Self-Mastery: Learning how to not be affected by others

Many of us spend our whole life a slave to the attitude, behaviors, and opinions of other people. We’re in a constant form of reaction from one moment to the next, beings jerked around like a puppet on strings, often crushed by a rude comment. If someone is hateful or sarcastic in some way towards us, it can throw us into a tailspin that can last for days, weeks, or even months. Someone with a bad attitude that’s also aggressive can outright terrify us, especially with all the mass shootings being staged and publicized around the world. Most people spend their entire life being shaped and determined by other people and the rules of society, usually without any direct awareness of how it’s happening or the reason why. Many people have completely lost touch with their soul and their real power to create in their life, and don’t even realize it.

One of the most basic forms of empowerment comes from a fundamental understanding of psychology and what it is that drives people’s behaviors. By coming to understand what drives other people’s behaviors, we can gain a better understanding of our own behavior in response to them. We’re all only capable of “bringing out in others” more of what’s “like us”. Whatever qualities we embody and express outwardly act to stimulate and bring out those same qualities in others as a natural response to us. Energetically, we’re always vibrating the same state of mind in everyone we interact with. We’re always in the process of mentally and emotionally influencing others to become more like us by how we perceive them and treat them accordingly.

Anyone who has been beat down and criticized as a child, either grows up to beat others down with the same type of criticism and mental attitude, or they remain super sensitive to anyone who has an attitude of criticizing them. The act of criticizing produces an equal and complementary reaction. The effect produced is always an expression of what caused it. There are no exceptions to this rule. The confusion tends to come when we only look at one side of the equation, instead of recognizing that everything operates as a whole pattern. All patterns form as a “dynamic” that’s holistic in nature and played out unconsciously through our basic perception, attitude, conditioned tendencies, and automatic behaviors.

Most people when being criticized or dealing with a sarcastic or mean person, focus almost exclusively on the person they perceive as doing it “to them”, rather than focusing on what’s happening inside of them as their own reaction. All energy, which is what emotional expression is, exists in a fundamental state of polarity as complementary opposites that move in-sync with each other. Anger, for example, provokes either and equal or greater response of anger, which escalates and intensifies it, or it causes a fearful response that backs down and becomes submissive. Any emotional response, whether sympathetic or antipathetic, nurtures and sustains the anger/emotion because both people are cooperating with each other in co-creating a joint reality out of the “active force” of anger. Any “reaction”, which comes in an immediate and automatic fashion that matches the energy being projected, is a basic form of control. Anytime we’re reacting, we’re being controlled by whatever it is we’re reacting to. The easiest way there is to control someone is through their emotions and the sensationalized realities they create internally.

 Every human being develops their own “mental paradigm” based on their formative conditioning. All of our initial conditioning takes place while we’re in a primarily unconscious state, and acts to literally “program” our subconscious as the “model” of reality we form from it. All of our values, beliefs, preferences, and initial (developmental) memories are instilled in us as kids through our family dynamics. As we become adults our basic personality and way of perceiving others and the world around us has been firmly established and we simply continue to live out of the same perceptions, tendencies, and relationship dynamics that we were a part of as kids. We continue to view the world and others the same way we were taught. In psychology we say that “we become one of our parents, and we marry the other one”. Whatever type of relationships was modeled for us as kids and that we played an active role in, becomes the same type of relationships we enter into and maintain romantically, socially, and professionally. We play out the same ideas over and over with different people and situations.

These dynamics become the themes that serve as a metaphor for our life. They usually involve ideas around our self-esteem (image of ourselves), such as not being good enough, not being worthy, not loved or wanted, being stupid, bad, ugly, and so on, which is why they ultimately serve as self-fulfilling prophecies that we wrap our identify around as adults. We “become” whatever we’ve been programmed psychologically to become by what we were told, heard being said about us, and how we were treated by those we cared about the most. These life themes become what we refer to psychologically as “core beliefs” that are like the nucleus of our mental model and spawn all of our other beliefs as being correlated to the same basic idea.

Dissecting Our Experience

In order to really grasp the significance of this idea, let’s take a moment and examine how it is that we create our experiences. While we tend to think that others are capable of doing something “to us”, when we examine the process closely, we can realize that we’re actually the one doing it to ourselves. We are in fact the sole creator of all our “experiences”. This idea is often confused as being our “reality” in the objective sense of what happens outside of us, when in fact how we experience what happens to us is an internal process that we perform and conduct “on” ourselves using our mind. Creating our experiences comes initially as an “unconscious process”, which means we do it naturally without any “direct awareness” of the fact that we’re actually the one doing it to ourselves. Due to the naturalness of the process, it usually completely eludes us. Yet in order to gain control over our own natural and unconscious processes, we have to form an understanding of them as a mental concept. So let’s turn our full attention inward and become aware of how we form our reactions to others.

When someone says or does something that’s offensive, hurtful, sarcastic, or mean, something that’s designed to get a rise out of us and place us in their control, we experience it as an intense internal stimulus that comes as an “emotional charge”. Once you experience the emotional stimulus, you instantly associate it to a memory where the same type of emotion and behavior was involved. Through association to a past event of the same kind, the same emotion and state are awakened and made active in you, bringing it out in you as a natural reaction. Your mind interprets “this” to mean the same thing as “that”, and you react in the present with the same emotional behavior as the past. We then act out the same behaviors and dynamics, and begin telling ourselves the same type of story about what it means about them and us in relation to them.

The story we tell ourselves as our thoughts and internal dialogue follow the same theme as our memory of the past. Emotions are always associated to memories we formed while in the same emotional state. Emotions are what drive and produce all of our natural and automatic behaviors. We’re most naturally and easily made to behave in certain ways through our emotions. Emotional memories give our subconscious the “pattern” it needs for producing automatic realities and behaviors that don’t require any thought, appraisal or decisions.

When we live out of our emotions we live out of the memories and conditioning of our past and continue to create more of the same type of experiences. We repeat the same patterns with the same type of people and relive the same type of experiences in new ways over and over. As we create our experiences, we simultaneously identify with them, and shape ourselves “through” our experiences. We once again replay the broken and worn out record that says we’re not good enough, worthless, stupid, not wanted, loved, blah, blah, blah, and due to the fact that we produce an “experience of ourselves” out of the emotional charge, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

From a purely psychological perspective, we only “react” to and feel hurt or threatened by those who are conditioned to the same type of dynamics as we are, and therefore naturally play the role necessary for acting it out. Whenever we’re triggered by someone’s behavior towards us, it’s actually providing us with a mirror to learn how to see things in ourselves that we’re normally not fully aware of. It’s showing us where we’re still living out of the illusions and pain of the past that we never came to terms with, identified accurately, or put to rest. It’s still alive and active within us because we haven’t gained any real awareness around it that brought self-realization. Due to the fact that we still maintain a belief around it as being true, we continue to faithfully act it out over and over with the right people.

A person’s attitude and behaviors stem from their mental paradigm and psychological complexes, and in reality, have nothing to do with us. When someone calls us stupid, it doesn’t mean that we are in fact stupid, but shows us that they were made to feel stupid as a kid growing up, and are now compensating by trying to make others feel stupid in order to somehow elevate themselves above them. The lower they make someone else, the higher they become in comparison. They’re unconscious beings who are used to verbally attacking others in the same way they were verbally abused. Their opinion, perception, attitude and conduct only serves to “reveal” who “they are” and says nothing meaningful about us . . . unless, of course, we let it.

When we take what others say and do personally by internalizing it, we actually believe what they’re saying and accept it as being true about us, especially if we grew up being called the same names. The reason we “react emotionally” is because we’re used to it and we’ve been treated that way in the past. When we react by being hurt or offended, we’re actually agreeing with them and may secretly feel it’s somehow true. That’s what a reaction is. We know how to play a role in the reality they’re creating, and so we cooperate by participating in making it real. For example, if you know you’re not stupid or dumb, and someone calls you that, it has no effect on you in the most basic sense; outside of the fact that you may think they’re being rude. Nothing gets stimulated internally and there are no memories of the same type that are necessary to produce and automatic and immediate reaction. Anytime we react to being called a name it’s because deep down inside we think it may be true.

Self-Observation and Realization

In order to understand this psychological process, simply observe your own reactions from a neutral and unbiased standpoint. Start by finding a place and time where you can have privacy, and sit calmly and fully relax. Then recall an event where you felt hurt or upset by something someone said or did to you, and reflect on it in slow motion. Slow it down and review it step by step. Recall what was said or done, how it was said or done, what attitude, emotions, and behaviors were involved, and what it was regarding. Then turn all of your attention inward and focus exclusively on your own internal process.

Recall the emotional charge as it entered your body, and notice where in your body it lodged and stimulated you. Notice the nature of the stimulus by describing it in sensory terms. Was it sharp and stabbing, did it give you a sinking feeling, or did it cause you to feel afraid or scared? Notice what emotion was activated in you, and while refraining from going into a reaction again or telling yourself a story about it that justifies your right to react the way you did, just notice and witness what you’re thought process was and what it seemed to be about.

Allow yourself to notice what it brought up for you. What memory of the past started playing out in the background of your mind. What is it that you begin telling yourself about what it “means”? Then allow a natural chain-of-association to form as any other related or similar memories or scenario’s that it acted to prompt. Notice and become aware of anything that arises in relation to this event. Resist the tendency to repress it in any way, explain it away, or justify your right to be hurt or upset, and just observe your own internal process from a neutral and unbiased perspective. Then allow yourself to realize that you’re actually the one “creating” the state of being hurt or upset. No one is thinking your thoughts or feeling your feelings for you. You’re actually the one “doing it” to yourself by how you’re using your mind and body. It may feel as if you can’t help it (which is what unconscious means), but just notice and watch what’s going on inside of you.

Once you gain true self-awareness around what’s happening and why, and you bring what’s happening unconsciously into conscious awareness, this awareness alone neutralizes its effect. At the same time, you can become aware of what it is in you or about you that you need to heal and transform. All true healing is psychological in nature, and comes only by shedding light on the hidden aspects of your own psyche. We naturally act to heal ourselves by becoming aware of the patterns as memories we incurred as children that are continuing to act out in our life by forming all of our natural perceptions and reactive behaviors. Through awareness of the fact that we’re the one creating the reality of our memories, we dissolve them, and they no longer play out in an automatic fashion. We can be around the same person doing the same thing, and it no longer bothers us. We perceive it in a matter of fact way and no longer engage with them in co-creating that reality for ourselves.

As a general practice, if you do this process of self-reflection anytime you’re being triggered into a reaction of some kind, it’ll help you to become self-aware and resume conscious control of yourself and what it is you’re acting to create. You can begin healing yourself and taking back your power to create in a more aware and responsible manner. As you begin neutralizing your emotional reactions to others and the events of your life, you take back control of your own life. As you start remaining calm and clear headed in relation to others, you can begin developing skill in using your mind and imagination in a more deliberate and purposeful way. As you begin creating from a conscious and self-aware state, you take over the process of facilitating your own growth and development. You take back and begin utilizing your soul’s ability to create yourself from a fully awake and aware state and in whatever way you want and decide to.

Becoming Self-Aware and Learning how to resolve your own Issues

One of the most primary ways we have of becoming aware of our own unconscious tendencies formed through our formative conditioning is by realizing that the outer world (and other people) exist in polarity with us and are always acting to show us parts of our self that can be difficult for us to see normally. The outer world is always acting to stimulate us internally and make certain parts of us active and expressive. As we’re stimulated by things, it provides us with a kind of mirror into the hidden aspects of our own psyche. Whatever we exist in polarity with as “shared aspects”, causes a natural reaction in us in response to them. As we react, we take on the same nature as whatever it is we’re reacting to. We take on the same qualities, emotions, and behaviors. As these qualities and ways of being are activated and brought out in us, it provides us with the opportunity to see what they are.

 The primary decision and attitude necessary to begin cultivating deeper forms of self-awareness, is the honest decision to do so, while simultaneously cultivating the ability to step outside of your own reactions and look at them from an objective and detached perspective. Once a reaction is triggered in us, we can remove our attention from what’s causing it and turn it inward instead. As we turn inward and begin observing the nature of our own reaction, we can clearly see “who we become” in relation with it. We can see what our own internal dialogue is and what type of script begins playing out in our mind. If we remain detached from it while simply observing it, we can see what lives inside of us that we’re often not fully aware of. We can see what it is we typically repress and deny about ourselves, while also recognizing that we become the “same as” as whatever it is we’re reacting to, and act to participate in playing out a certain type of dynamic. We become the same type of person and take on the same type of behaviors.

One of the fundamental principles of the universe is “cause and effect”. All cause as an action, stimulates and produces an equal or greater reaction of the same nature and kind. Like always serves to beget more of what’s like it. This idea can also be understood as the Law of Vibration, which basically demonstrates that whatever frequency something vibrates at, which transmits a form of signal, moves through and into physical forms and vibrates that same frequency in them. As it awakens and makes the same quality active by resonating with it, the two frequencies of a similar nature begin vibrating in harmony, ultimately forming coherence as an energetic unification. Once unified energetically, a coherent pattern is formed as an interactive dynamic that expresses to form a joint reality comprised of the qualities they share in common.

All of the unconscious content that exists in us without our direct awareness of it is simultaneously being projected onto the environment, allowing us to witness it with our conscious mind. But because we’ve repressed it and lost memory of it, we don’t realize it’s showing us unknown aspects of ourselves. The outer is always a projection as a mirror image of the inner that’s acting to produce it as our perception. A mirror image is an opposite reflection of an image. All of reality is composed of complementary opposites as masculine (outer) and feminine (inner) aspects of the same thing that act to stimulate each other. The inner acts to receive the stimulus of the outer, calling forth the same quality as a state of consciousness, and together produce an offspring as a reality. While we tend to think that “reality” is something that exists around and outside of us, it’s actually formed as a “field of information” that’s constantly being reformed into variations by the mind perceiving it. The inner and outer are extensions of each other as a polar and complementary relationship.

If you allow yourself to notice, you’ll realize that only certain people, attitudes, and behaviors cause a distinct reaction in you. Other people and activities are going on around you all the time that you don’t particularly even notice, let alone react to. When you do notice them for some reason, you view them in a neutral and detached manner that’s a kind of objective evaluation where you remain calm inside the whole time, and basically unaffected. This is because the attitude and traits they’re displaying are a part of our own awareness and not something that you’ve denied and repressed in yourself. They’re not a part of your conditioned and unresolved issues, so to speak. By realizing this, we’re provided with a powerful tool for self-healing and personal growth.

 The Practice of Self-Awareness

Begin by making the decision to unearth your own unconscious content, and set the intention to begin developing the means necessary to become self-aware. Anytime you get an emotional charge from someone or something, and you go into an instant reaction, realize what’s happening while refraining from reacting. As you refrain from reacting, remove your attention from whatever is causing the reaction, and turn it inward instead. Simply become aware of what’s happening inside of you. Notice what the reactive thoughts are, and what emotion is associated with it. Notice the dialogue that begins passionately playing out in your mind automatically. What story, script, or narrative starts running in relation to it. What behaviors are you prompted to go into seemingly without the ability to control them outright?

As you allow the unconscious content to surface and begin actively expressing, resist the tendency to justify your “right” to feel and act that way. Don’t fool yourself with the idea that you’re simply “giving them back their own medicine”, or “giving them what they deserve”. If you’re feeling hurt, just allow yourself to notice the urge to hurt them back in the same way, while continuing to allow the feelings to fully surface and play out in your mind while you “watch them”. Then allow yourself to notice who you become because of the story playing out in your mind. What memory as an imagined reality rises up within you that becomes the means for interpreting the current reality to mean the same thing as the past. What role do you take on in your own story about things?

If you have trouble doing this and keep going back to focusing on the other person, just catch yourself and return your attention inward. Focus exclusively on the internal processes the external stimulus set into motion within you. Don’t judge yourself in any way, or make yourself wrong, and remain as detached from it as possible. Remove yourself from “within the experience”, and reside in awareness outside where you’re watching it like a movie, where you’re not the main star, but simply one of the characters playing a role in a larger dynamic. Don’t try to control what’s happening within or change it somehow, just observe it as another person would.

Allow yourself to notice that anytime you’re reacting, you become like the person you’re reacting to. You take on the same emotions, attitude, and behaviors, and you begin cooperatively participating in creating the same type of reality as a joint experience. As you begin awakening to how it is that you’re always being shaped and determined by other people through the activation of your own unconscious content, and that every reaction is providing you with a mirror that’s reflecting back to you aspects of yourself that you’re unaware of, you can begin gaining awareness around the true nature of things.

Through the realization that’s obtained through the practice of observing your own mind and thoughts, you bring what’s operating to unconsciously in your life life into conscious awareness, where it’s resolved through the awareness itself and no longer acts to control you. The more and more you do this, the less reactive you become, and other people and events no longer act “on you” in an unconscious manner to control and determine you. As we become aware of what’s serving to create us through an unconscious state, we begin healing ourselves and cultivating a state of inner peace where we begin making conscious decisions in a calm and calculated manner as to “who we’re going to be” in any situation. As we let go of our tendency to create while in an unconscious state, we can choose what qualities we employ instead and begin creating our self and our life in an intentional and beneficial manner.

The Healing Power of Witnessing – Detachment, Relinquishing Judgment, and Mirroring

As a general rule, it’s very hard for us to ever really see anybody as they truly are, because just the act of perceiving another influences and distorts what’s being observed and interpreted as a means of creating an experience of it. All perception results from the relationship as an energetic interaction between the mind doing the observing and the object being observed. The mind of the individual exists as a vibratory structure of dynamically integrated patterns that forms a mental model (paradigm) that acts as the “lens” we look through to perceive everything else around us. As we observe something, we direct our attention onto and into it, and through a process of sympathetic resonance, influence it in terms of what’s stimulated and brought out in it in response to and relationship with us. As we conceive of something we act on it to alter how it “appears” to us, and by how we “remake it” by “blending with it” mentally and forming an interpretation of it that makes it out to be “like us” (of the same nature). Our mind as a paradigm (dynamic model) is formed by the integration of all of our life experiences that together consistently produce a congruent reality that has a theme inherent in it as a “type of story” we’re always in the process of telling ourselves about everything as a way of understanding it, and through our understanding form our experience of it. While we can’t necessarily produce or outright change material reality in the objective and actual sense, we’re always changing how it appears to us as our experience of it. Our model produces a natural set of criteria for creating consistent experiences through our beliefs, values, memories, and what we accept as being right and true based on our conditioning and what dynamic we were raised playing a natural role in. This criterion becomes the filtering system we look through as a means of instantly interpreting things through generalizations that we apply across the board, robbing everyone and everything of their individuality and uniqueness, and reshaping them instead to fit into our judgments about them. We form beliefs around our values that become preferences that act to distort and reshape everything we observe, perceive, and interact with to factually validate our judgments as being accurate and true. Because of our minds natural ability to transform reality through the simple act of perceiving it, we don’t realize that our most fundamental reality that we believe and imagine to be objective and fact based as neutral and a part from us, is actually a form of illusion as a distorted version of our own making. Anytime we interpret something to give it meaning, or tell a story about it that makes it mean something, we’re distorting facts and assigning the same qualities, characteristics and motives to others that we ourselves possess. The same criterion as a belief system formed out of values that we use to judge others, we’re simultaneously using to judge and shape ourselves in relation to our own projections and transpositions. When we mentally and energetically merge into and blend with others, seeing them and their experiences through our own model and interpreting them accordingly, assessing them as being wrong, misled, or incorrect, and needing to somehow retell the story of their experience in terms of how we would have handled or went about the same thing, we never see others “as they truly are”, but rather as “we are” through them. We remake them in “our image and with our likeness” as a way of forming a relationship with unconscious aspects of ourselves in them. As we judge others through our values and beliefs about them, we simultaneously create an experience of ourselves in contrast to them, or as being just like them. What we find repulsive and antagonistic in others, that causes a distinct and pronounced reaction in us, is a quality or trait that we also possess that we’re not fully aware of and have denied having somehow, repressed and failed to acknowledge, of shaped ourselves through opposition to it. We naturally “react” to the opposite and complementary quality in others that we ourselves possess, which is why we’re reacting. It stimulates us, activating and bringing out in us the quality necessary to play out a joint dynamic as a co-creation. As a general rule, we typically create ourselves in two basic ways, by becoming just like someone else, or by contrasting and becoming the opposite. But either way, they’re both roles in the same dynamic, and we require that dynamic in order to “know ourselves” and actively continue to create ourselves through a role in that dynamic. To detach from others, from our dependency on conditions, circumstances, and relationships as the means of knowing ourselves through others, and instead of projecting onto others by judging them then reacting to our own judgments, we self-reflect and become aware of the true nature of our judgments as something that’s alive and active within us, shaping who we are in a purely unconscious manner, we can begin gaining an awareness of aspects of ourselves that we’re normally not aware of. By withholding judgment and creating a sense of being separate and detached from others, while turning inward and observing the story playing out in our mind, we can begin realizing our own conditioning and the false illusions we’ve built around ideas that prevent us from seeing them in their origins as they truly are, without the need to transpose them onto others as a means of seeing what they are. We can know the hidden content of our own subconscious mind by realizing that it forms the basis of our perception of others and the world in general in terms of what we readily see, react to, and play an active role in mentally, emotionally, and behaviorally in co-creating. The entire outer world in terms of our “perception” of it and what we naturally see (without conscious intervention), is created by the subconscious mind, whose content is predominately unknown to us, and only comes into our awareness as feelings, emotions, or impulses towards or away from things. It comes into our awareness through the memories that are referenced and drawn up in association to outer emotional stimulus of some sort. Through the memory the outer stimulus acts to naturally invoke, we can see how it was instilled in us and continues to live within us in an attempt to be resolved through our ability to “witness it” as it plays out in a variety of ways, both internally through our imagination (where memories play out), and externally through our perception (looking through the lens of the memory) and natural participation in the dynamic it implies, while remaining detached from it. All that’s really required to heal a dynamic as a tendency that’s of an emotional origin (which all are), is the ability to view and observe it as it plays out in you from a detached, dissociated, and third person perspective. Where you don’t need to explain or justify it as a means of defending it. The awareness alone brings self-realization as becoming aware of what was previously acting out without your direct awareness, and it loses its grip on you and resolves the unconscious tendency. Once we become aware of something that we were doing in an automatic fashion, we catch ourselves as we begin doing it, and no longer feel compelled to engage. The conscious mind, which is the self-aware aspect of the mind that’s outwardly focused, has the ability to witness in a detached and objective manner, the mental impressions being reflected in the imagination, and the material manifestation of those memories being played out as unconscious motives in a variety of ways through our everyday life. By developing the aspect of ourselves that’s a part from the body and it’s emotional states, and isn’t dependent on the body for its identity, we can clearly see the illusions of the body as conditioned emotional states that keep us faithfully acting out formative conditioning in an unconscious and automatic manner as the very foundation of our experiences wrought through our perspective and perceptions of the outer world. Through the outward perception of our inward self, we form our “sense of self” within our own self-created experiences as a conscious relationship with unconscious aspects that together form our identity. Once we learn how to detach from the judgments and perceptions of our conditioning, and no longer merge and blend into the perceptions of others, remaking them to be like us as a result, we can act as a witness for other people as well. By relinquishing and stepping outside of all judgments (good and bad) and conditioned beliefs as a way of experiencing them, we can see them as they actually are. We can listen to their story about their experiences without needing to change it in any way or form an opinion based on it, and in doing so act as a mirror to reflect back to them the reality of their own making that’s a projection of their subconscious mind, showing them in very direct terms what’s active and playing out in them as subliminal motivations that they’re primarily unaware of. By acting as a mirror and sounding board, where they can hear their own story, often for the first time with full awareness and no distorting influence, they too can become aware of unconscious aspects, and through the realization of what previously deluded them, a natural healing takes place as an alignment between both aspects of the mind. The witnessing faculty of the mind is the aspect of ourselves that exists outside the consciousness of the body, both the subconscious and self-conscious, that’s not directly identified with the body and dependent on the body to know itself, and therefore can “see it” (the activity of the material mind) in a clear and objective manner. It “watches” the dynamic as a tendency played out in the imagination like a memory (movie), and how it manifests in a corresponding manner as external experiences. It’s the part of us that’s divine in nature and has its existence in the eternal realm outside of time and space, and acts to aid, guide, and comfort the lower self, confined within the body and determined by its unconscious conditioning as a form of bondage. This higher aspect of the mind provides us with the true means of healing when we employ it in an intentional manner. By relinquishing the tendency as a perceptual filter for judging others as a means of creating our experiences of ourselves through them, and remaining separate and detached, no longer needing to change how they appear to us, we can see others as they actually are, and through this same awareness, see ourselves as we actually are a part from them. Through the higher faculties of the mind to witness the unconscious creations of the lower mind, healing spontaneously occurs for both people through the same act of awareness. The true key to all healing of the soul, mind, and body, is self-awareness and the realization it brings in terms of what’s really going on in every moment as a creation of the material mind. By using our higher mind to witness our lower mind, we act on ourselves to heal ourselves. The way to overcome the laws governing the lower planes, is to rise above it and work by way of the laws governing the higher plane, which serves to “orchestrate” and organize the activity of the lower planes. By using this same faculty to witness the creation of other people’s minds, the realization it brings allows them to heal themselves, and heals those same aspects in us, because at the level of the higher mind, not located within a body, the “soul” exists in a unified state of shared memory as a part of the “collective unconscious” or “mass consciousness” based on archetypes that form the basis for all of our personal creations out of thematic ideas. Just through our ability to truly see an aspect in another from a detached and objective state, allows us to see that same aspect in ourselves, and again, through our ability to see it without the veil of an illusion, dissolves and resolves it “in us”. It only remains intact because we’re unaware of the fact that it’s a self-created illusion of our own making. Projection is an Absolute Science – “Unveiling Hidden Aspects of the Subconscious Mind”

The idea of “projection” can be difficult to understand in the practical sense because most of us have no real awareness of our own subconscious mind, and the true nature of denial and emotional suppression. As a general rule we naturally tend to perceive ourselves as being separate and apart from others and our environment. We don’t realize in the most basic sense that we’re actually the one creating our perception of both. To fully understand the power of this idea requires a basic knowledge of the nature of the mind and its ability to create all aspects of our reality as being “subjective” in nature. Our perception of the outer world is a direct correspondence to the hidden and unknown aspects of our inner world. Both the inner and the outer world is a product of our mind and is produced by the same mental paradigm as the “perceptual lens” we filter everything through in order to experience it.

What we call reality “exists” only as we perceive it. All perception is reality. There’s no set or generic definition for what we call “objective” reality, because no matter how you go about it, it’s always the result of someone’s perception, and doesn’t exist outside of the mind that’s creating it. What’s being observed outwardly and the mind doing the observing inwardly are a part of the same event as a dynamic and fluid interaction. Our mind literally influences the matter around us, altering and shaping how it “appears” to match our ideas and beliefs about it. Our mental paradigm is a field of energy that vibrates at a certain frequency, and is comprised of a dynamic series of correlated patterns formed by a “self-organizing mechanism” that simultaneously “reorganizes” everything else to be of the same structure, likeness, and behaviors.

Our mind is 3-fold in nature. We have 3 aspects, levels, and functions of our mind that act in unison to produce both the internal and external reality that correspond and correlate to each other as complementary opposites. The same “pattern” as a holographic reality exists on different scales, levels, and degrees of complexity simultaneously. All ideas and qualities or characteristics exist as polar opposites that form a gradient scale between positive and negative extremes of the same idea or thematic reality. Nothing exists as independent of everything else, but rather as the result of the relationship it forms with everything else. In order for an idea as an experience to play out, we have to have people that play opposite roles that contrast, correlate, and relate to each other as the necessary dynamic to create the desired experience.

All experience comes as a form of story-line as a dynamic theme that’s produced by our character and the behavioral dynamic we’re conditioned to that is constantly playing out as an outer event. We can only know “good” by relating and contrasting it to its opposite as “bad”. We only know and can define “hot” by how it exists in relationship with “cold”. So in order to experience and define ourselves as something specific, we have to enter into relationship with its opposite characteristic. Opposites (of the same idea) attract, stimulate each other, and serve to call forth into expression its opposite and complementary characteristic. In order to experience and know ourselves as courageous, we have to compare and contrast ourselves to the opposite as cowardice. Both are formed by a response to fear, and exist as a choice we make as to how we’re going to respond, or what kind of experience of ourselves we’re going to create by way of it.

Our mind operates according to the law of polarity and only exists in relationship with itself (same frequency as a dynamic pattern) in everything else (Dyad). Our subconscious mind is fully functioning and creative without our direct awareness. It’s the part of the mind that we share with all of the natural world and animal kingdom known as instinct, intuition, and morphic resonance, or what we’ve come to call the collective unconscious. It performs all automatic biological functions of the body in a constant and continuous manner, produces emotional-chemical responses as an interaction and communication with everything around us in our environment, and is what acts to form what we call our “perceptual lens” as a series of mental filters that we filter information through, restructuring it into personalized versions of reality.

Our mind exists as a field of information structured by accumulated memory that vibrates at a certain frequency that has a dynamic, multidimensional pattern inherent within it as a form of “theme”, that also has what we call a self-organizing mechanism that reorders all matter as energetic essence into the same type of pattern on a larger scale as an interaction and relationship with it. We all vibrate to a certain frequency that has a quality of conscious, character, and theme inherent in it. We “resonate with” (bring out and reconfigure) that same reality as a dynamic pattern in everyone and everything else, changing how it behaves and “appears to us”. We change it to be of the same qualities, thematic reality and behavioral dynamic that we are so we can continue telling our story in a consistent and congruent manner. We reform everything to be of the same nature as we are. We “see” and exist in relationship with everything as a way of fitting it into our story about things, and in doing so, change not only its form as its appearance, but its nature in terms of the meaning we assign to the behaviors it displays as a way of experiencing it.

We never see others or the outside world as it actually is, a part from us, but rather as we reform it to be “like us”. We remake everything to be of the same nature, character, mind-set, attitude, behaviors, and “story” as a vibratory pattern, as we are. The object being observed and the person observing it, are a part of the same event. Matter “literally” responds (resonates) to the consciousness of the mind observing it, and morphs (shifts) to match it in vibration. What we expect and believe to be true, we literally create by how and what we perceive in any situation. We only notice, abstract, and use to compose an idea what matches our perception and expectation, configuring it into a new form with modified characteristics that are complementary to us and match our intention. We literally act on all material objects (matter is passive and fluid) to activate (turn on) and bring out certain qualities (complementary to our own), while deactivating (turning off) others, remixing it, changing the appearance and behavior of others and the entire material world as a cohesive and congruent whole. We’re always directly influencing others and the natural world through our intentions, thoughts, emotions, and actions.

All ideas that play out as dynamics of some sort to create a reality as an experience, exist as a whole pattern with multiple roles, as well as conscious (aware) and unconscious (unaware) aspects that act on each other to attract, influence and reform, while simultaneously repelling, comparing and contrasting, and together play out a shared dynamic as a fundamental form of self-expression that simultaneously self-creates through its own outer, co-creation.

We are conditioned (tuned and developed) to certain themes and dynamics, as whole patterns that form the basis for creating a reality that require complementary roles in order to play them out. The entire outer world is composed and organized by the subconscious mind as our outer energy field that encompasses and permeates the body, while extending quite some distance outward, blending with everything else and forming our perception of the outer world as the complementary opposite of our inner, self-conscious world of sensory, brain and heart oriented thinking and feeling. The outer world is structured by the “content” of the subconscious mind, most of which is unknown to us at the conscious – aware level, and reflects back to us hidden aspects of ourselves that are covertly operating to create our experience of reality without our direct awareness.

By realizing and becoming aware of our perception and judgment of others we can see aspects of ourselves that we’re normally unaware of. What we see that what’s outside of ourselves and in others, is a direct reflection and projection of our own subconscious mind. This is how we can become aware of aspects of ourselves that normally remain hidden from us. Once we realize that our entire perception of what we call reality is a product of our mind (both of our self-conscious and subconscious) that exist in polarity to each other as inner and outer, self and other, all of which are of the same “nature” as a vibratory frequency and quality of consciousness that shapes matter into thematic patterns, we can begin seeing ourselves and our life in a new light.

Denial

Anytime we’re made to feel guilty, ashamed, or humiliated in some way, we deny those emotions and behaviors, and suppress them. Whatever we deny and repress, stays alive inside of us, and continues acting in our lives at the subconscious level to create our experience of reality. We create an illusion around them as a series of stories that makes them “seem different” than they really are, or as a means of defending ourselves against them as a way of proving we’re not like that by making others out to be like that instead. This is why most people have trouble seeing, recognizing, and understanding their own projections, because they’re in denial about them, even to themselves. Whatever we deny having as a character trait, we project onto others, see it in them, and then judge them and react to it. We can come to know our own unconscious aspects because we have a pronounced reaction to them in others. All reaction of any kind, good or bad, comes through resonance – being of the same frequency as its polar opposite. Like always produces more of what’s like itself.

Likewise, we develop what we call our “issues” around our own denied aspects and the dynamics we’ve been conditioned to. If we’ve been called a liar, and made to feel bad or wrong for doing so, and were punished and made to feel ashamed of ourselves, we suppress those emotions while deny being a liar to ourselves and others, while simultaneously projecting that idea onto others and see them as being the one lying to us. We continue lying while telling ourselves a story about it that makes it seem different, so we convince ourselves that we’re not lying at all. We justify our “right to lie” based on our reason for doing it. Anyone who has an “issue” with people lying, or outright profess themselves to be honest and truthful by making a point out of it, and then tell stories as memories of some sort where lying, deception, and betrayal were a main theme, have an absolute tendency to lie, deceive, and betray themselves, and are usually perceived by others as being a liar. They go into denial about it by building stories around it as defensive mechanisms that make it seem like something else. They tell themselves a story as a form of illusion that either gives them the right to lie, or that justifies their right to do whatever it is they’re doing. Then of course we have what we call “white lies”, little lies, fibs, or lies as a means of being polite and tactful so that you’re not hurting people’s feelings. So we develop “degrees of lying” that tend to candy coat it so it doesn’t seem so bad.

A person who has trouble trusting others, is untrustworthy themselves. They’ve been conditioned somehow by participating in a dynamic where “trust” was a main theme, and are therefore “imprinted” with that pattern, where they can play any role in that dynamic based on what role the other person they’re in relationship with plays. They go into relationships expecting deceit and betrayal of some form, look for it constantly, and can interpret any number of behaviors to mean the person is untrustworthy. They’re constantly suspect of the other person, accuse them of things, and have a tendency to spy on and investigate them by snooping in their stuff, checking their phone, and any communication methods, secretly following them, or always looking for evidence of some sort that can be used to prove they’re untrustworthy. All of these acts make the person themselves untrustworthy, deceptive, and betraying the trust the other person had in them.  This usually happens without them ever seeing it that way because they’re telling themselves a story about why they’re doing what they’re doing that gives them the right to do it without it meaning that they’re violating the trust of the other person. The reality is that they’re the ones that can’t be trusted and they attract and enter into relationship with others who will fulfill that same dynamic as a shared reality.

Whatever character someone automatically assigns to another person as a form of what we call “value judgment” (what most people mean when they use the term judgment), or judgment that’s not based on the nature and actions of the person themselves, but more of a classification of sorts that fits them into a category, is showing us traits that we ourselves possess. We’re looking through the “lens” of that quality and seeing it in everything else while simultaneously acting to bring it out in people or situations by how we act and interact. We’ve developed mental filters that accentuate and bring out certain qualities (that match our judgment) while ignoring or downplaying qualities that counteract, disprove, or don’t fit our idea about them. We remake people in our own image to be a part of the same character traits, behavioral dynamics, and life theme as we are. We see them in a way that allows us to keep telling our story about things in a consistent manner.

This is the “self-organizing” ability of vibration to influence and organize matter into “patterns” that have distinct characteristics, behaviors, and themes in them produced by the meaning we give things. Our criteria for judging others is a product of our own consciousness and mental paradigm. We act as a magnet to attract those who share the same tendencies and who are programmed to the same behaviors who cooperatively participate in acting out the same type of idea as a shared experience. Whatever pattern we’re programmed with, we are always playing every role in that dynamic, and switch back and forth in complementary positions. We both initiate and act to set the dynamic into motion, while stimulating it in the other person and they react in a like manner, giving the same idea back to us where we experience ourselves as being on the receiving end or the victim of our own self-initiated tendencies.

One of the best ways to recognize your own subconscious or “shadow” aspects, is to pay attention to your own thoughts as the stories you’re always in the process of telling yourself about others and the events of life, while reflecting on where those stories came from. What relationship or event as a memory of the past is that story based on? If you could see yourself as having the same tendencies while making them out to be different by how you explain or justify them, what would they be? Reflect on what role you’re playing in a familiar dynamic or theme. One that you’re used to playing, know how to play, and have play many times before. Allow yourself to realize that the entire outer world is being “viewed through” the lens of your mental paradigm (both conscious and subconscious) which determines “how it appears to you”, and that what you’re seeing in others is the same aspects that you yourself possess. Most of which you’re not fully aware of because you’ve built an illusion around them. Allow yourself to notice that the same “behavior” and act is involved, only made different by the story you tell yourself about “why” you’re doing it that makes it “seem” different.

We can only work with what we’re aware of and “own” in ourselves. Projection is how we are able to see the content of our own subconscious mind so that we can begin working to heal and transform it in an intentional and deliberate manner. The only thing we can truly change in life is ourselves. By changing ourselves, we change the world around us. By recognizing our own conditioned tendencies as themes acted out through behavioral dynamics that we naturally act to initiate and participate in, we can begin exercising our creative ability through choice and will to deliberately develop ourselves by transforming existing character traits into new ones.

We know when we’ve healed ourselves of conditioned patterns when we no longer see those same character traits in others as a basic, automatic, and generalized perception. As we change ourselves internally, the way the world outside of us appears changes as a direct correspondence. Other people always act as a mirror for us, reflecting back to us hidden character traits and tendencies as our automatic perception of them. When we no longer share the same traits with another, we lose interest in them and no longer find them stimulating. For this reason, as we change, so do our relationships and the story we’re always in the process of telling by how we perceive, interpret, and live our life.

Spiritual Guidance – Psychics, Spirit Guides, and Our Higher-Self

The idea of spiritual guidance, like all things, means different things to different people, so in order to talk about it in a meaningful way, we have to start by defining it. Spiritual guidance indicates receiving information about something that concerns us from a non-local source other than ourselves. We’re asking for guidance from what is sometimes an unknown or somewhat ambiguous source. In the most natural sense of what we could call “ongoing guidance”, we’re always resonating with and drawing in information as ideas from the ether as the unified field that we’re all submersed in and an active part of. This information in the truly spiritual sense exists as archetypes (whole ideas) that come as scalar energy (unified form) that has both acoustic and optical (dual) properties, and as it enters into our mind, unfolds as a feeling that spontaneously  produces an inner voice and mental impressions as expanding on an existing idea, revealing what was previously hidden aspects, that come as the result of a “transmission of information” as realizations of some sort.

In the purely spiritual sense, we are given the ability to self-create through choice and free will, and are we are ultimately fully responsible for all of our own creations. The individual right to make decisions and willfully bring them about as a reality that provide us with experiences of our own creation are NEVER violated in the spiritual sense because they can’t be. We are only capable of “accessing and drawing in” information that we act as a natural receptor for through resonance. All information from the spiritual realm of pure energy as archetypal ideas in their potential state, come as realizations around ideas that present us with new opportunities to decide for ourselves. It (information as an outside source) never makes decisions for us, “tells us” what to do, or gives us “point blank answers” to questions. Answers as guidance come through a form of coincidence, introspection, and synchronicity as a chain-of-association, that provides us with new insight around something that brings what was previously unknown elements into full awareness where we gain instant clarity around them, and through the newly acquired awareness we naturally decide.

Any questions and inquiries are directly linked to the answers in the environment around us. Just by wondering about something and thinking about it in an in-depth manner, forms a kind of gravitational field to the answer in everything outside of us. Inquiring about something internally as a true desire to know, sets an intention in place as a vibratory frequency (all thoughts form electromagnetic fields) that resonates with that same idea in everything else, giving it prominence where it stands out, we notice it, and as we place our attention on it we draw it into our mind by thinking about it, and as a result gain new information regarding it. Everything in what we call the “spiritual realm” is energetic in nature (pure consciousness) and requires a local mind and a material body in order to be “received and interpreted” as a coherent part of our personal reality.

We can’t act as a conduit for something we don’t honestly have a desire for, what our mental paradigm won’t allow us to comprehend, or that doesn’t already exist as a form of memory. Whatever we have memories around, we think about and create as conceptualizations in our imagination (memories are replayed and relived in the imagination), programming us to the frequency of that idea as a form of theme, and we become magnetized to it in everything around us, drawing in and interacting with that same idea as it exists in our environment. We can’t obtain or act as a channel for anything we can’t conceptualize, comprehend to the point of forming and internal representation of, or that’s not a part of our soul’s memory in terms of similar experiences.

The only thing that can “come to us” is what’s of the same nature (memory) as we are. When something doesn’t come naturally, it’s because it’s not meant to. It’s because we’re not ready for it in terms of maturity and growth, or where we’re at in a greater process as a phase and stage of our life, or we’re simply not of the same idea in terms of our constitution (frequency), and therefore don’t act to attract and absorb it as an idea that that has the potential for becoming a reality. We only “receive” what we ask for through a desire and imaginary thought process. We only find what we “look for” and intentionally seek out. We only penetrate an idea, or open closed doors through a constant form of action taken on an idea that we’re presented with. When we sit back in a state of limbo not taking any affirmative action because we’re not sure of anything, waiting for stuff to magically come to us, we don’t act as a magnet for anything. All things only come to us when we decide and take action on those decisions, which opens up a means for new things to come into play through the activity itself.

All knowledge is acquired through a desire and connection to it and through constantly pursuing and engaging in the activity of acquiring it by becoming one with it experientially. We only obtain what we have a love for, connection to, and strong desire for. Whatever we form an internal representation as living concept, becomes a frequency that we act to program ourselves with, and we become an antenna and magnet for it. A thought that’s imagined with intensity (turned into a sensory reality) forms an electromagnetic field as a vibratory frequency that has a self-organizing mechanism inherent in it. This organizational mechanism acts to attract and naturally bring about more of that idea as an experience that allows us to gain deeper and deeper forms of self-realization. We don’t need to ask “anyone” for our own answers, we simply have to tune into our own thoughts and feelings regarding it, form a strong desire for it by associating positive and compelling emotions to it, setting an intention and desire for it, then pay attention to any form of associated ideas that come to us from a variety of sources in our immediate environment. As associated ideas come to us we intuitively recognize them as a form of inspiration that brings realization into the true nature of the idea. This realization “is” the guidance.

When we turn to other people as professed “psychics” or clairvoyants, asking for information about ourselves and our life, we’re opening ourselves to a large array of what can be very deceptive or incorrectly interpreted information. Psychics work by reading the energy around you which comes as feelings that form a mental impression as symbolic metaphorical images, which are sometimes accompanied by a voice as the meaning of the images. These mental impressions are a form of memory that’s imprinted in your aura (mind-field) as thoughts that you dwell in repetitively with strong emotions or that are of an intense nature. While it’s possible for anyone to literally “read someone’s mind” by forming rapport with them, and seeing their mental impressions or “hear” thoughts as more of a feeling, it still has to be interpreted in terms of what it means, and when this happens, you’re now working out of the psychics mental paradigm, and who knows if the interpretation is going to be accurate or not. As anyone knows, observing a situation from a detached perspective and not really able to identify with it, as opposed to being “in the experience” having it as a part of a larger congruent reality, can be very different.

When you rely on someone else to tell you what your answers are and what your direction in life should be, or what decisions you should make in different situations, you’re literally letting them take control of your will, your life, and your soul’s destiny. You’re relying on someone to “know” for you, instead of knowing yourself. The entire goal of the soul within the material realm is to become self-aware, and to gain deep realization into its true nature and ability to willfully self-create. This only comes by self-reflecting, turning inward and recognizing your own feelings, becoming aware of your true nature, what you feel a strong love for and connection to, and making decisions based on that.

True inner guidance comes by connecting to our self on a higher plane, through what’s called our “Higher-Self” or “Superconsciousness”. This aspect of ourselves (notice this is always plural) exists on a higher plane that’s “above this plane” and therefore able to see it in its entirety, while simultaneously acting as the choreographer for it. Our Higher Self communicates with us through our own inner voice that’s being used by a different authority, and nearly always takes on a parental attitude of teaching us by discussing things with us, allowing us to gain deeper insights into them, or as a lover that’s exceedingly intimate and is a fundamental part of us that always has our best interest in mind, while knowing everything about us. In this relationship there’s never a self-serving agenda involved, no errors in thinking or perceiving, and all guidance as answers to our inquiries come as experiences that expand our awareness around things, providing us with the information we need to make a clear decision with full accountability as to what they’ll produce.

All of our actions, which come as a continuum of feelings, thoughts, and emotions that create a reality by living out a story about it, are creative in nature and we incur karma because of them. All actions produce an effect of an equal or greater magnitude. The decisions we make, and what we do because of those decisions, form who we are as a person and imposes a direction on our life. Whenever we look outside of ourselves to someone or something else, whether an actual person or “spirit guide”, looking, not for insight around ideas, but for a decision to be made for us, we throw fate to the wind, and sell our soul by becoming a channel for others to command our will. As a general rule, we should NEVER give our will over to another by letting them make decisions for us, or tell us what to do, and therefore “control us” as a result.

What’s commonly referred to as “spirit guides” or “ascended masters”, can mean a variety of things based on what system a person has been trained under, and what they’re actually “connecting with and accessing” as a result. But all are “entities” of various sorts that are usually metaphorical in nature as mythological gods, wise people who have gone before us, or even animal spirits that represent qualities and characteristics as behaviors that are ideal for performing natural operations. Angels and daemons, for example, represent individual qualities and characteristics that only perform certain operations, and are not composite beings that have free will. Humans are the only beings within the material realm that are imbued with the ability to choose and the will to actualize that choice as an experience of reality. As we choose, we set a reality into motion that creates and gives us a certain type of experience as the result of our choice. If we don’t like it, we’re free to make alterations or new decisions to change it, and if we do like it, then we keep going and continue creating more of that reality. Either way, the choice is ours.

What many people refer to as “God”, is in reality, our Higher-Self on a higher dimension, that we’re intimately connected to, and who knows the divine plan of our life that was laid out as a pattern before we were ever born into a physical body. The whole purpose of our physical existence is to live out as an experience the pattern of our karma, which was created in whole before we were ever born. Choice and free will is not a fact or an illusion, but rather something that was decided and willfully set into motion from a higher plane as the enactment of our accumulated decisions as an ongoing creative process. Karma, is what we call the “absolute law” because it works out of vibration, which automatically produces the pattern of that vibration as a reality that provides us the experience of it. We only truly learn (form and develop) through experience, which forms all of our memories. Our paradigm as our mental structure or “model of the world”, is formed through accumulated memories that are all integrated to form a harmonious cohesive whole. This life and all that proceed out of it are based on vibratory frequency as an indigenous pattern. There’s no getting around or side-stepping this. Whatever frequency we vibrate at determines the pattern we naturally form as our “perception” of ourselves, others, and the world in general. Our life is the way it is because it’s how we perceive it, and the relationship we form with ourselves in everything else, that forms a consistent story line, that we live as a consistent outer experience.

Every decision we make, moment by moment, that determines our actions, is creative in nature. We willfully (intentionally) act out our decisions, turning them into reality as the expression and experience of them. When we give other people the right an ability to make decisions for us, we surrender our creative power within our own lives, and give it to others to create for us. Any decisions and action taken on that decision renders karma (cause and effect). Only humans are gifted with the ability to self-create by making decisions for themselves and acting out those decisions to produce an experience of reality that simultaneously creates them by way of that experience.

The animal kingdom, and even the divine kingdom outside of humans (as far as we know), don’t have the ability to choose and self-create through those choices to develop new qualities and characteristics that alter or determine their destiny. This is purely a human gift based on the “fall of angels” who acted collectively to create the human race, giving us multiple qualities and composite characteristics. We are complex beings formed out of “unique combinations and dynamic formulas” that we are in charge of producing, rather than singularities as single qualities that always act to perform the same operation in an automatic and routine fashion. We are composite beings who can direct our own development and how we naturally express to create realities based on the accumulative experiences gained from our choices and the reality those choices produced as an experience that forms our soul’s memory, out of which we continue to make decisions and form similar experiences as an ongoing evolutionary process.

Forgiveness – The Key to Spiritual Healing

The most basic principle that’s operating all the time, in every aspect of life, is that whatever we “blend with energetically” (mentally, emotionally, or physically) we “take on” and integrate as a form of “shared” consciousness. We most often take on other people’s energy due to the fact that it impacts us in some way. The nature of the impact it has on us determines what type of story we start telling ourselves about it as a way of making it mean something. As we give meaning to our experiences we begin building our identity around and by way of them. We’re always in the process of shaping ourselves by way of what we think about, dwell in obsessively, and give life to inside of us by replaying it in our mind as a memory. As we co-create an experience with someone or an event of some kind, we form an interpretation of it through our very “perception” of it. As we think about something creating an inner reality out of it, we’re simultaneously creating our “self” through that reality by identifying with our own self-created experiences.

How we interpret something gives it the meaning and significance it has for us, and forms the basis for what type of reality we create in our mind that replaces the “actual” objective reality with a “subjective” one, making it personal. Reality itself, as events, behaviors, dramas, situations, conditions, and so on, have no meaning in and of themselves, but merely become the basis for forming meaning by how it’s interpreted by the individual perceiving it as a means of “experiencing it”. While we can reasonably conclude that we don’t create or manifest other people or outward situations, we absolutely create “how we perceive and thereby experience them”. Our experience of reality is a personal creation formed exclusively in our mind as the natural creative power of our soul.

All of our experiences that have a significant emotional impact of some sort, become our primary memories as interpretations of the events of our life. As we create our own memories, we simultaneously create ourselves by way of our own creations. The memories we accumulate over a period of time become “themes” out of which we create all of our present experiences to be of the same nature and meaning as our past experiences. This “theme” as a certain “type of meaning” forms the basis for our perceptual lens that we consistently look through in order to see the same thing in everyone and everything by how we interpret it. As we consistently form the same type of  experiences over and over, we continue telling the same type of story about things, and create a consistent and congruent version of reality as a result. As we perceive and experience the outer world by processing it internally through the commentary we form around it as imaginary thoughts,  we create a “sense of ourselves” through our own story, and shape ourselves by way of it.

Whatever we continue to give life to by replaying memories over and over, we continue to use to define ourselves, and we tune and magnetize ourselves to that theme as a life-drama, where we’re constantly attracting it and being attracted to it. This “attraction factor” isn’t a product of the conscious mind, per say, but rather of the subconscious mind, which means it’s energetic in nature, based on vibratory frequency and operates in our life without our direct awareness. Whenever we meet someone of the same vibratory frequency, who will naturally act to co-create more of the same type of experiences, they stand out, we notice them, and have a reaction to them. Due to this, we naturally begin gravitating towards each other, and eventually end up in an actual interaction of some sort where a relationship forms – as a friend, colleague, companion, lover, etc. – and we act together to form a joint experience of the same thematic nature that we share in common.

The meaning we give things, like the mind itself, is 3-fold in nature, and creates on three levels and scales simultaneously. Whatever meaning we give something, means something about others, the way the world is in general, and about us in relationship with it. As we perceive and form an interpretation of other people’s behavior, we’re perceiving ourselves through or by way of that same interpretation. As we perceive others to be, we simultaneously perceive the world to be the same way as a larger version or as the stage in which it all takes place. Whatever it means about a specific person it means about “the way people are”, and about the way the world is in general. As we form “generalizations” about the meaning of life it serves to form our expectations and what we naturally look for in all situations. We form mental and emotional filters that skew our ability to accurately see in an objective manner. We only see and respond to what matches our model of the world, and fail to recognize what doesn’t. All the while, because these are our own creations as our thoughts and emotions, we’re forming ourselves to be of the same nature and likeness, as a response or defense, and as an interaction where our themes are always playing out at the unconscious level. Our perceptions form our “criteria for judgment”, and are used equally to judge ourselves through our perception of ourselves within our own story about things.

So when we enter into a relationship or become a part of a situation, where natural events and behaviors take place, and we filter them through our mental paradigm and interpret them to mean something so we can experience them through a story-line, we act “on ourselves” through another or greater reality, and continue shaping ourselves through a primary for of self-expression produced by our mental paradigm as a filtering system. Through mental and emotional filters, we sort through and select only some of the elements involved, while completely excluding and ignoring others, we embellish and accentuate some, while downplaying and explaining away others, and change what’s emphasized based on the means we’re shaping it to, and by completely reorganizing and reformulating it, we create a personal version of what happened and why, that we live out of as a means of using it to define and determine us as a certain “type of person”.

Because this is a natural function of our mind, and we do it automatically without intentional awareness, we form an idea that others are doing it “to us”, instead of “cooperating and participating” in helping us do it to us. Relationships we form with others provide the basis for acting out certain types of drama that are self-perpetuated at the subconscious level, and act as a mirror for allowing us to see what’s operating in us that we’re unaware of. Not as singular events within larger ones, that we grab onto and begin obsessing over as what we imagine we need to forgive in the other, but as dramatic life themes that we’re always in the process of playing out in all areas of our life without actual awareness of what we’re doing and why. So to think that someone “did something to us” that we’re having trouble moving past because we can’t seem to let it go and continue dwelling in it as a form of suffering and mental anguish, and fashioning ourselves by way of it, is a self-created illusion that’s delusional.

We are the sole creator of all of our experiences. We attract to us the fulfillment of our own thematic dramas in others and the conditions and circumstances that are ideal for playing them out. As we play them out, both unconscious and conscious aspects are at work, and we’re constantly sensing the underlying motives at play, and making constant decisions as adjustments based on what we’re sensing is necessary to keep it playing out. As we sense the underlying motives of others, we realize those same motives in ourselves as the complementary component which is what keeps us drawn in and actively participating in it. We justify things in whatever way allows us to “glaze over”, ignore, or build it into an “agreed upon lie”, and we keep on going with it. We agree to maintain the relationship knowing, that in order to do so we have to compromise ourselves, agree to ignore or accept certain things that we shouldn’t, and continue allowing certain things that we don’t like, and we keep telling ourselves whatever it is we need to in order to do that through a form of negotiation. We begin lying to ourselves and building an illusion as a lie in place of the actual reality as the objective truth.

Then an event of some sort with a strong emotional realization takes place, and shatters the illusion to the point where we can no longer maintain it, and we have to face it. We can’t pretend any more. We can’t call it what we wish or want it to be, but rather have to accept it as it actually is. This moment of shattering a lie, comes as betrayal, disappointment, dishonesty, violence, grief, shame, disgust, and so on, that not only reveals the truth we sensed and negotiated all along, but also as what breaks the bond and creates a disconnect that can no longer be remedied by pretending. In these moments we have to face the truth, but the truth is not what we think it is, the truth is coming face to face with the truth about ourselves. The realization that we we’re sensing what was going on all along and chose to negotiate away our integrity and lie to ourselves in order to maintain it and willingly continue playing it out. We come to the realization that “this type of stuff always happens to me”, because this is the way people are, and the way the world is. Usually, without ever realizing that it came about because it’s the way we are. We were willing to participate by compromising ourselves, not through clear rational thinking and objective observation, but through emotional attachments, inner compulsions, and a strong sense of need that we blindly mistook for love and trust.

The only actual betrayal was to ourselves by our self. The only real dishonesty came by first being dishonest with ourselves. The wounds we encountered were ultimately self-inflicted. The only disgust and hatred was because of what this means about us. But all of this is very hard to accept, and even harder to own, and thereby realize that the only forgiveness involved, is our ability to stop projecting onto others, and use it instead to gain self-realization of our own unconscious tendencies, and begin working on ourselves to rectify and redeem ourselves. The only person that truly needs to be forgiven in our own life creations is ourselves, because we’re the ones negotiating its terms within ourselves.

In this sense to forgive is to forget, not only the other person involved in the co-creation of a self-produced drama, but also to quit living out of memories that act to ultimately produce our experiences in the present to be of the same nature as our experiences of the past. To realize that relationship of all kinds between our inner self and the outer world simply acts to show us parts of ourselves that we’re normally unaware of. To gain knowledge of ourselves as it’s being reflected back to us by others as an interaction that’s of a “cause and effect” nature. To see in ourselves our own methods for negotiating away our morality in favor of a desired illusion about things. To be able to realize our own motives for “selling our soul” to another, submitting and allowing ourselves to be controlled by agreeing to remain unconscious in order to maintain the relationship.

Everything we perceive as happening to us, is actually happening “by us”. We are always creating our experiences by how we look at, interpret, and cooperatively participate or contrast and refuse to participate. We’re only attack-able or able to be hurt to the exact extent that we attack and hurt ourselves by not being willing to see the true reality going on beneath the surface, and therefore never learning from our own experiences. All experience is designed to bring self-awareness that allows for deeper realizations around the awareness. To perceive needing to forgive another for what they did to you, is showing you that you’re choosing to remain unconscious of your own creative power and part in things.

When we learn to use all of our experiences as a mirror where we remove our focus from the other person or event, and examine ourselves in relation to them, we become more aware of our own internal processes and what it is that motivating those processes. We can come to realize how we negotiate and manipulate situations as a way of co-creating them. We can come to realize in very definite terms, that the very people we imagine we need to forgive for the pain and suffering they caused us, we should actually thank for the realization they allowed. We can come to realize the truth about ourselves and begin embracing our creative power to effectively bring what we were previously unaware of into the full light of day, where we can begin working with it to correct it, not in the outer situation, but in the inner situation producing it. In the spiritual sense of the mind and soul, those who cause controversy and serve to challenge us in very distinct ways, are worthy opponents that cooperate in creating the joint experiences necessary to learn by. As we learn, and we apply what we learn to create, we grow and develop ourselves as the means for spiritual healing.

What Reactive Behaviors are showing you about Yourself

In order to understand this idea, we have to look at the nature of a reaction, and what’s actually happening when we react, as well as what it means to “heal” in the sense that it’s being used here. Someone who acts to stimulate you into a reactive state because of how they’re being, what they’re doing or saying, or how they’re treating you, shows you areas about yourself, that you still remain unaware of,  either through denial, repression, or conditioning of some sort. Anytime we begin reacting, we switch into a form of auto-pilot, and literally go unconscious to what’s happening and what it is we’re actually doing. We’re being “controlled” by the person or idea that’s eliciting an immediate reaction in us. Because of this instant, automated factor, we not only create out of an unconscious state, but we do so by repeating patterns born out of memory of the past, which is what gives us the pattern necessary to act out in an automated fashion, requiring no awareness or thought process on our part as to what we doing and why, let alone realizing the consequences we draw to ourselves while in the illusory state.

Reactions come through associations of some sort that instantly references a memory where the same type of idea was being played out (which is the triggering mechanism), where we pull it out, superimpose it over the current situation using it to perceive it through, making it about the same idea, and act the same way we did in the memory, by making what’s happening in the present mean the same thing as the past. Our mind registers that “this” is the same as “that”. Because we make it mean the same thing, and therefore react in the same way, we can be triggered into a blind reaction by a behavior, tone of voice, a feeling, an attitude, an emotional state being demonstrated around us, the words being used, or through an idea being played out that we have strong emotional ties to that form what we call our “issues”.

Reactions can be both of a good nature, stimulating positive emotions that bring about pleasurable experiences, or of a bad nature that stimulate negative emotions that are painful and violent, and ultimately destructive in nature. But no matter the nature of the experience it causes, it comes as being controlled by whomever or whatever is causing the reaction, and going unconscious in our own life and acting in a way that creates our experience, shapes us by way of our own self-created experiences, and renders a like reaction to our actions as a chain reaction, where what we do in a reactive state becomes the cause for producing an equal or greater reaction in others, which becomes self-perpetuating and gains momentum through escalation. This is the most basic form of repeating the past in the present, or being a product of our conditioning and what we call karma, and the basis for all “sin” as creating while in an unconscious state and unaware of what we’re doing, and therefore creating in error.

The opportunity being offered anytime we’re feeling stimulated inside to instantly react to something outside of us in a pronounced and intense manner, is it allows us to see what idea as a conditioned memory is still alive in us, able to be activated and repeated in the present, causing more of the same ideas and situations as in the past. In shows in what ways we are controllable by outside forces, and how we keep repeating the past in the present as a means of determining our future. It allows us to see what our karma is as unconscious tendencies that we repeat over and over without any actual realization of what we’re doing. It allows us to see things about ourselves that we don’t normally see or recognize, because we’re covering them up or justifying them (as being real) through the story that we keep telling ourselves about them that make them seem real and true, and therefore justify our right to feel the way we do and “keep” them.

By realizing this ability to show us aspects of ourselves that we remain unaware of, where we build an illusion around it through the story we tell about it that makes it appear different than it really is, we fail to own it or be able to regulate it through awareness and willful action. If we completely remove all attention from the outside source causing the reaction, and instead place all of our attention on what’s happening inside of us that has nothing to do with what’s happening outside of us, we can see a process that takes place, instantly forming a “version of reality” that we systematically superimpose over the present situation as a means of instant interpretation that has a whole, preprogrammed pattern of behavior inherent in it as what we did before when the same thing happened to us. If we refrain from actually reacting while still letting the process that’s going on internally continue while observing it, we can notice what memory we associate to it, reference in relation to it, and use as an automated program for repeating a past idea by acting it out. We can notice what begins running through our mind as a story we start telling ourselves “about” what’s happening and what it means about us, other people, and the way the world is in general. Through reactive behaviors we repeat the patterns of the past in the present and they set the basis for our creating more of the same idea in our future. If we turn all our attention inwardly while allowing the reactive state to continue playing out in us, we’ll get a very clear idea on what areas in our life still remain unresolved and alive inside of us, that we’re continuing to create out of.

Through awareness alone, we can see our own internal process for how “we create” the reactive state as a means of cooperating with the same quality of consciousness in the present that we did in the past. We can witness what we’re doing to create our reactive state. Nobody ever “makes us” do anything, they just provide the stimulus for us to do it to ourselves. We create the inner state which produces the outer behavior as what we call a reaction that’s compulsive in nature. Nobody ever really controls us, we simply fail to be able to control ourselves, and in doing so, allow ourselves to be controlled by others. Because we imagine that something’s being done “to us” by another, we claim no responsibility for our own actions, and instead blame it on the person causing it. Blame itself is an illusion, because our internal state is always being conducted by us, and whatever is being done to us, is being done by us through a lack of self-awareness as to who’s doing the doing. So by becoming aware of what memories we have associated to reactive tendencies, and how our memories of the past continue to define us by shaping our experiences in the present, we can neutralize the “triggering mechanism” as an emotional charge, and in doing so, consciously decide how we want to perceive and respond to whatever is happening in the present moment, with full awareness of what we’re doing and what will result from what we’re doing.

Most of our memories as our primal conditioning are created by the mind of a child ingrained with a certain nature, predisposition, temperament, and tendencies, as an “interpretation” of events and activities in order to make sense of them, which comes by way of the meaning we give them that fashions the story we begin telling ourselves about them as a result. This story, formed from the imagination, intelligence and emotional state of a child, forms our “core beliefs” as the reality of our story and what’s required to sustain it, which is a personal creation as an illusion, which continues into our adulthood, where we continue perceiving reality according to our childhood story. Our beliefs shape our reality, not in the literal sense of the external elements themselves, but in terms of what we see and don’t see in any situation and how we interpret it to give it the meaning it holds for us as the means of experiencing it, while shaping our identity by way of our story about things. In this way, our memories, which are formed largely through an imaginary process of storytelling based on not knowing the true reality or other facts to what’s going on and only viewing it from “our perspective”, becomes our programming as our perceptual lens and mental filtering system, which forms the basis of all our perceptions of what we call reality, which is in fact a subjective experience of an outer objective reality. In this way our beliefs replace “actual” objective reality as an illusion that becomes a delusion, because we live out of this illusion as though it was true and thereby making it true for us.

As we witness the whole process that’s taking place within us, and being conducted by us, while shutting off all reference to the outside conditions and circumstances prompting the internal process, we can see clearly the illusion of it. We can see what we’re doing to ourselves to create the emotional state of the reaction. Through this self-awareness of the true reality of the situation, neutralizes the emotional charge as the triggering mechanism, dulling

the compulsiveness, and in that moment of calm where their used to be a storm, we realize we have a choice. We can choose how to first perceive it in a new light from a new (mature) perspective by staying in the present with what’s actually happening now, and how we want to respond accordingly. What originated as a thoughtless, knee jerk reaction, becomes a thoughtful relaxed response. In this way, the only thing that has changed, is that we took control of our own internal process instead of forfeiting it to others. We move from being “other referencing” to being “self-referencing”. By becoming aware of what we were previously unaware of, it loses its grip on us, and we find ourselves easily taking control of what was previously out of control.

Once we realize that our “perception as an interpretation” is actually something we do with our mind as a process of association and referencing the past with the present, we can actively engage in incorporating new models and paradigms necessary to form new types of experiences. We can literally take control of our own internal mental processes and direct them in an intelligent and deliberate manner by learning how to work by way of the laws as natural processes of the mind to create reality as a personal interpretation of what originates from a neutral set of events, completely devoid of personal meaning. Things only mean what we make them mean. Meaning is something we assign to material things as a way of interpreting them through a story about them as a way of experiencing them while simultaneously fashioning ourselves by way of our own perceptions. We can realize, that any time we experience being controlled by somebody else through a reaction were forming to them, we can realize that what’s actually happening is we are failing to take control of ourselves and turning over that right to another by remaining unaware of our own internal experience as a creative process. As we become aware of how we create our experiences, and we learn how to take control of our own internal processes, we come to a place where we no longer react, and instead remain relaxed and calm inside, and able to think clearly through an isolated state of inner peace. By taking control of our own mind, we exist in a constant state of introspection, that once we master, forms inner peace as self-awareness, responsibility, and competency in regards to our own self-creation and soul evolution.

All Perception is Self-Perception – Projection, Energetic Entanglement, and Morphing

What we Think of Others is a Reflection of Ourselves in them

 

The true nature of what we refer to as “perception”, like consciousness itself, is still largely a mystery in scientific terms. We ask “what is perception”, and how do we form our perceptions? Perception is a product of the mind formed through our paradigm or the mental structure of our mind which is the lens we “look through” to “see”. Our mind literally reformulates everything to match our mental model, making it perceivable as a consistent version of an outer reality that’s translated through our inner reality to be of the same nature, meaning, and significance. We fit everything into a consistent theme as a way of making sense of the world. As a way of understanding it by how we describe it, explain it, justify it, and build it into our story about things in a way that makes sense to us.

The statement that we are one with everything around us, is a literal statement, but not in the way most think. While we share and are constantly exchanging the same particles, molecules, and substances with everyone and everything around us, we’re also exchanging consciousness, and energetically merging with it, becoming one with it, and reforming it through our mental perception of it. We never really see things as they actually are apart from us, but as we remake them through our experience of them. Each person that’s apart of the same event, situation, or observing the same object will experience it differently, and in a way that’s unique to them. This is because we only “see” and recognize in everything else what matches our paradigm, and is brought out in it through the resonating activity of our attention being directed at it, that only vibrates similar aspects of it, reordering it into a new form with the same qualities (consciousness) of our mind. Attention, as directed and concentrated consciousness vibrates at a certain frequency, and is always resonating with what is of the same frequency in everything else, and calling forth what matches it into an active state, while causing other qualities to recede, become passive and latent, reshaping the appearance of things. How things appear to us is a product of our own vibratory frequency as our mental paradigm.

The outer world shape shifts to match the inner world that’s perceiving it. All material matter has the energetic potential to appear different to everyone (the individual mind) that perceives it. Matter itself possesses consciousness as psychic qualities that are always interacting and transforming through induction and repulsion of everything else around it. We change the vibration of a substance just by observing it. Our vibration as a mental paradigm or pattern, enters into the same vibration as a quality in everything around us, and effects it by remixing it’s dominant and recessive qualities, changing how it appears by reformulating its inner state. In this way, the observer and the object being observed are apart of the same event, and can’t be meaningfully separated out. Our perception of others and outer events are a direct reflection and expression of our own mind. We “see” in everything else what’s in us, because our mind is the one doing the seeing. The qualities we see in other things are the qualities that we ourselves possess that we project onto them, then perceive them through. If they possess qualities that we don’t, we fail to see or recognize them, or make them out to be something else instead. We transform their character to match ours by how we reform them in our imagination. We describe, explain, and tell stories about them that have nothing to do with them, and everything to do with us.

Likewise, every reaction we have to another, is an interaction with ourselves (same characteristics) in them. They possess the same qualities that we do as a dynamic pattern, and the “reaction” is the experience of resonance, or what we call stimulus. We only resonate (react) to the same vibration in another, which not only transforms us to that vibration by making those qualities active and dominant, but transforms them equally to the same qualities and behaviors, which form the basis for the interaction as the outward display of the shared pattern as a behavioral dynamic. Whenever we come into relationship with someone or something else, an immediate pattern emerges as a type of dynamic that becomes the nature of the interaction in an ongoing fashion. Once we realize this, we gain a valuable tool for self-recognition and realization. Anytime we’re forming a distinct interpretation of another person, we can ask ourselves simultaneously, what does this show me about myself?

Our mind, in the most basic sense consists of the conscious (self-aware) and subconscious (unaware) mind. As we go through life, based on experiences in which we were heavily judged in some way as being bad, wrong, not good enough, stupid, guilty, belittled, shamed, and so on, which causes us to deny the things about ourselves being used against us, while also repressing the memories associated with them. While these tendencies are being denied on the surface we still possess them internally, where they become internalized and formed into complexes that we continue to express by projecting them onto others (looking through them to see the same thing in others), and judging them just as harshly, if not more so, than we were judged. The dynamics of repressed issues continue playing out at the subconscious level where we’re not directly aware of what we’re doing, and we continue to produce the behavior and attract those who share the same issues and tendencies, and will cooperate in acting them out in a subliminal manner. Because they’re hidden from our own awareness through a denial of having or being them, they remain hidden from our own awareness of ourselves, yet we readily see the same traits and tendencies in others and continue living out the drama that ensues from them, we can become aware of them in ourselves through simple self-reflection.

Once we become aware of the fact that we’re always projecting onto others and seeing in them the same character and tendencies that we have or were conditioned to as children that we’re in denial of, we can use it as the tool for self-development that it offers, and anytime we’re having a strong reaction to someone, or judging them harshly in some way, we can ask ourselves, “if I could see this same behavior, attitude, or tendency in myself . . . what would I see”? Why am I having a reaction, what emotion got triggered, and what idea or memory comes immediately to mind as I react to it? Why does it bother me so much? What is it “about them” that bothers me? If we refrain from actually reacting outwardly, and simply sit with the feeling we have inside and simply observe it, while allowing our reaction to continue internally playing out, we can begin seeing in ourselves what it is that we’re being shown through the other person or event that’s taking place. What are they acting as a mirror for?

Just as “what another person thinks of us, has nothing to do with us”, likewise, what we “think of another person has nothing to do with them, but is all about us”. Our reaction, shows us what our own issues are that’s causing the reaction. How we judge others (through the nature of the reaction) is in the same manner that we were judged. How we act, or treat them, is the same way we were treated while being judged in the same way. We employ the same emotional state, behaviors, tone of voice and attitude, and often even use the same words. As you witness your own reaction from a detached state, as if watching yourself from the perspective of someone else, who or what does it remind you of? If you we’re on the receiving end of your own outward behaviors and attitude, how would you perceive yourself? What kind of person would you see yourself as, and why? Learn to penetrate it through a raw form of honesty, and as you begin gaining awareness of what has been operating in you without your direct awareness, gain realizations around it. See it in yourself as clearly as you can, and “own it”. Don’t continue to justify it or try to explain to yourself “why” you’re like that (usually blaming it on someone else), and just be present with it.

Self-awareness is the beginning steps to healing at the spiritual and psychological level. To begin realizing how your own subconscious mind is operating, allows you to understand what’s happening and what you’re doing, and you can begin working with it in a conscious manner. Become clear on the fact that whenever you’re reacting to someone or something, it has nothing to do with them, but is being “created internally” by you. We can only change what we’re aware of and fully own. Just the awareness itself starts the healing process and begins dissolving your attachment to that memory or idea whenever it’s being played out in your present situation. Self-realization is the key to personal growth and emotional healing.

Our mind exists as a paradigm that forms a unified expression as a personal reality through a natural form of storytelling. As humans, we’re always in the process of telling a life story by how we talk about our past, impacting events of our life, our perceptions of other people, how we reflect on things, our reactions, and various underlying motives and personal agenda’s as behavioral dynamics that we’re naturally prone to and readily engage in. We’re always revealing our character by how we talk about things. The voice(s) in our head as our thoughts, are always talking to us about things. They’re explaining, describing, judging, making fun of, ridiculing, criticizing, complaining, correcting, or just rambling on about nothing in particular. We have the same type of thoughts over and over throughout our lifetime, and while the context of our thoughts may change as our outer circumstances change, the attitude, perspective, and theme of our thoughts remain consistent and cohesive. We may use different outer elements to tell the story, but it’s the same “type” of story. No matter what our outer circumstances or situation, we form our perception and interpretation of it as the means for experiencing it through the role we play and our own story about it.

As we go through life, we develop a certain personality and character that forms the basis of our experiences, out of which we develop our identity. Who we are in any relationship or situation, determines the role we play and how we interact to reshape everything in order to continue telling our story about things. Our story, as a cohesive outer reality is based on, or comes as the expression of our mental paradigm. Our model of the world (mind’s structure) has a self-organizing formative mechanism inherent in it that transforms the outer reality to match the inner reality. Our mind’s energetic structure is the culmination and integration of all our experiences, what we’ve been taught, beliefs, values, morals, preferences, disposition, temperament, emotional states, attitude, and so on. All of these combine to form a singular reality that expresses all of them in a congruent and harmonious fashion. Our paradigm, as a dynamic living pattern forms into a kind of genre and theme, which demonstrates our vibratory frequency or energetic essence.

The best way to recognize your own story, is to learn how to move out of the experience of your story as being fully associated with it, or “in” it, and step into an objective perspective that’s dissociated, and simply “observe” it, while relinquishing all need to judge it or justify it, and instead simply witness it as if watching it play out on a movie screen in your mind. Move out of the position of being in the story as the main star or character, and see yourself as playing a role in a greater story in which you’re simply one of the characters. Always resist the tendency to explain why you feel the way you do or justify your right to be that way, and simply watch it from an unbiased perspective and a neutral attitude. As you talk and are telling someone “about you” (your past, or something someone did to you, what you’ve been through, etc.), after you tell them, simply stop and reflect for a moment and listen to what you said as if you were the other person. Then ask yourself, what does this mean about me? Who do I become because of this story?

This practice will give you insight into parts of your nature that you’re normally not fully aware of. It’ll help you to begin gaining realization around your own issues and tendencies. It’ll help you recognize how you were conditioned by your upbringing, whether you adopted the same patterns being acted out in your family dynamic, or formed patterns that came from rebelling against them and trying to be the opposite of them. In order to work consciously and intentionally with anything, we have to become aware of what’s really happening, and how we are always the ones creating our self and our life experiences by what we tell ourselves about it that gives it meaning, and we have to be willing to give up our story in order to train ourselves to begin telling a new one. By telling a new story we’ll systematically transform our character and identity. By changing our story, we take creative control of our self and our life, and use our will to reshape our mind and form a new pattern (change our vibration), and learn to express in creative new ways.

Karma and the Law of Cause and Effect – Changing Reactive Behaviors

Karma can probably be most clearly understood as the law of cause and effect, or action that produces an equal or greater reaction. Karma is the fundamental activity of our life, which is either repeating a pattern as a natural tendency or unconscious behaviors, which produces a like effect as a reaction or immediate consequences to our actions, or it comes as a willful and deliberate act that we’re fully aware of and do intentionally. Most karma originates from conditioning of some form, where we’re trained to behavioral dynamics of some sort as the emotional dramas being played out around us that we’re a part of, and ultimately learn to participate in and cooperate in repeating as a kind of life theme that produces a consistent experience of reality. Once conditioned with a thematic life pattern as a type of experience or story that we naturally act to tell by the perceptions and relationships we form with everyone and everything else, we go through most of our life (or lives) forming and playing a familiar role in the same dynamics, over and over, through all areas of our life, usually without any real awareness that we’re the ones creating it.

 

The patterns we form as a thematic story is a natural product of our mental paradigm, and the emotional states we live out of as a general rule. All patterns are the result or expression of “states of consciousness” or mind-sets that form our everyday thoughts, and determine what we’re capable of seeing (perceiving outwardly) in any situation, and what we’re not. Those who share our thematic patterns and behavioral dynamics (of the same frequency) standout, we notice them, gravitate towards them, and they effect us or cause an internal–emotional reaction in us. Those who are of a different frequency or behavioral dynamics, don’t stand out, we don’t really notice or pay attention to them, and we can exist in near proximity of them for extended periods of time without ever interacting with them. Anyone that we share karma (life patterns) with, we tend to easily form a relationship with, and they participate in acting out the same type of story with us. While we can play any role in a dynamic, we tend to favor one while remaining largely unconscious of the others, and are most compatible with those who will play the complementary role, allowing us to remain largely unconscious of what we’re cooperating in creating.

Anytime we get caught up in a strong emotional charge of some kind, and have a strong reaction to something, we’re in the process of acting out karma as automatic and repetitive behavior that we do without thinking about or having any realization around before we do it. It’s thoughtless behavior produced by an emotional charge, which literally renders us unconscious. When we live out of a volatile sea of emotional states that keep us in a constant reactive state, or always thinking about and dwelling in what “someone else is doing”, while losing all awareness of what we’re doing instead, we can live the better part of our life out of an unconscious state, and simply repeat past patterns over and over. This is the fundamental nature of karma.

 

To get off the “karmic wheel” of fate and fortune as haphazard, knee-jerk reactions and mindless emotional drama, we have to begin gaining control over our own mind and senses, and refrain from emotional reactions of all kinds, while self-reflecting instead. As we refrain from outwardly reacting, which keeps us only conscious of the other person, and we become aware instead of what’s happening inside of us “as” the reaction itself that produces automatic behavior by accessing a memory associated with the emotion that’s activating it, and the type of behavior being displayed outside of us. It’s the emotion that enters our body, stimulating us with that same emotion, and the memory as a similar event that we have directly associated to it, that basically says “this (the present) is the same as that (the past)”, and we react in a like manner.  By doing this, we create in the present the same realities and experiences as the past. We act the same way, and create the same behavior, which not only produces the same type of experience again, but draws to us the same consequences or reactions to our behaviors. Once we “do something”, we can’t undo it, and it sets into motion a whole series of consequences, some of which are immediate and intense, others which extend over longer periods of time and are more subtle and gradient. Some consequences we recognize and own, others come later and can mystify us.

To break the patterns that bind us, we have to become fully present in the moment, become aware of any emotional charges while refraining from reacting to them, then shift our attention inwardly to observe what’s happening inside of us. Notice what the emotion is, where and how we feel it in our body, what memory immediately comes to mind in response to it, and the story we start telling ourselves about what’s happening. Because like always stimulates what’s like it, we can become aware of aspects of ourselves that we normally aren’t fully aware of or are in denial around for some reason. When we remove our attention from the outside stimulus, which is merely serving to awaken the same reality within us, and we pay attention instead to what’s happening inside of us, and we simply self-reflect on what process begins simultaneously unfolding as a whole idea, and we realize the nature of our reaction, and we “observe” our own inner experience. Just the awareness alone brings what we are unconscious of into conscious awareness. The awareness alone is enough to break the reactive pattern as a tendency, because we can catch ourselves as we’re doing it. Once we become aware of our own tendencies, and no longer react to them when being displayed by others, we can consciously choose our own behavior in response to them. We can decide what to do from a calm and relaxed inner state. By doing this, we transform old karma by producing new karma in its place as new patterns activated by the same outer stimulus.

 

When we’re in full control of what we do, and we’re not being controlled by outside forces, we become conscious creators in our own lives, and we respond from a thoughtful place that acts to cause an entirely different reaction. We can neutralize a strong emotion being projected towards us by another by deflecting it instead of absorbing it, while simultaneously initiating a new one to take it’s place by counteracting it, and changing the persons state to match ours. In this way, we can become self-determined and act as a positive influence for those who aren’t. We can transmute our karma as old reactive patterns into new patterns of awareness and intentional action that’s aware of the consequences our reactions produce and as a form of consciously creating.
