Personality, Identity, and Ego – Our Main Tools for Transformation

The personality, identity and ego have a tendency to be used intermittently, and their actual meaning can remain somewhat obscured or vague. This may be due to the fact that they “emerge out of each other” as a natural growth process of becoming. While our personality is related to our bodily consciousness or subconscious mind, and is developed in a completely unconscious (automatic) and spontaneous way in childhood, our identity naturally begins emerging out of or as an extension of our personality when we move into adolescence, and begin building a relationship with the outside world beyond our close knit family unit, and begin thinking for ourselves. As we begin problem solving and reasoning, and as we begin developing our sense of self by what roles we naturally take on and begin playing in group situations, we begin consciously developing our identity through the choices we make, what we’re willing to experiment with, and by how we feel when having certain kinds of experiences. Though in most spiritual scripture, the term “ego” is the same as “identity”, in our modern usage of the idea, the ego has become associated with forming our identity out of an association to purely material things, and is more accurately referred to as the “false ego” or “alter ego”.

 
Our personality gives us our basic characteristics and tendencies as natural behaviors and way of being in the general sense. These develop naturally as children based on the relationship we form with everything around us and how we’re stimulated through a cause and effect, action – reaction type of process. Once this initial stage of development has taken place, it sets the basis for the next stage of development to spontaneously emerge and begin taking shape. As we form relationships with other people, activities, ideas, situations, and so on, more of our inner self is brought out and expressed by how we interact, what we say and do, what roles we begin naturally taking on, what parts we begin playing in a larger whole, and how we sense ourselves through our own experiences. Some ways of being we like, and so we develop them by moving deeper into them, others we don’t like, and so quit doing them while trying something else. Our teenage years are about experimenting with our ability to create ourselves, and as we approach and move into our twenties, our basic identity is in place as far as how and where we see ourselves, what roles and situations we naturally gravitate towards, and what relationships we natural form through resonance. As we create our experiences, we identify with them, and they serve to shape us in terms of our being.

 
This process of identification continues as we move through life, and the ego is naturally formed as an extension of our identity based on how we begin forming our identity around material aspects that we use to form our self image. As we dress a certain way, we feel a certain way, and form it as a part of our personal style. As we drive a certain type of car, we get a sense of ourselves by way of the car as an image we begin forming of ourselves. The house or apartment we live in is related to a certain neighborhood, social and economical status, racial group, etc., and fashions our self-image even further. As we move through life we’re steadily accumulating material possessions and playing certain roles that we continue to identify with and become the basis of “who we are” as an image we form of ourselves, and we become dependent on them. We enter into various relationships that bring out certain qualities in us, and make us consistently feel a certain way, and we sense ourselves by way of these feelings, and they continue to fashion us.

This aspect of our identity built out of material possessions and our desire to acquire more, or the need to begin exercising control over others through the status we achieve by way of material possessions, forms what is typically referred to as the ego. The ego is a false identity and self-image that produces a false reality that becomes a delusion, because it’s temporary, always subject to changing, and can be taken away or lost, which would cast us head on into a full fledged identity crisis. We wouldn’t know who we are or what to do without them. It would lead us grasping desperately for any form of security we could find. We would be out of our element, in a brand new position and situation with no memory to fall back on, and no longer possess any real form of power and control. When we identify with the material world, we bond ourselves to the material plane, and become “mortal” in nature in the sense that our “self” dies with the body, and our soul seeks life in another body in order to continue living.

 
In most spiritual traditions the term “identity” and “ego” are considered synonymous, and have essentially the same meaning. Our identity is the faculty we use to function and operate in the outside world as the roles we naturally play. It’s only within Christian or religious applications that we find ideas of “killing or destroying” the ego. In spiritual traditions, every part of the whole is a valuable and necessary part, and plays a key role in the overall development of the soul within the body. Every aspect of being plays a specific role in our whole being. You can’t kill or destroy any one part, without simultaneously destroying or disrupting all parts. The idea around the ego as identification with the body and material world is to “transform” it. We can transform it through intentional use of our mind and what we choose to identify with. Whatever we identify with we align ourselves with and draw on as our basic source of power – our inner self or true being – or an outer source by identifying with material possessions that we use to create an image of ourselves in place of who we really are. We use this false image to present ourselves as being important and superior somehow, not through our “actual” character void of material attachments, but by flaunting and over valuing our material wealth.

 
To transform the ego is to change what we associate and identify with. If we choose instead to identify with our Higher Self, the spiritual world or God, then we move into being one with our true identity that always comes from within and is based solely on “who and how” we’re being in any moment. It doesn’t rely on attachments to the material world, and is a source of strength that we possess no matter what our outer circumstances are. We begin operating out of our center of being in terms of our true nature, which remains consistent and is available to us all the time, and can never be taken away from us by another, unless of course, we allow them to. By always drawing on our inner source of invisible powers, we become associated with our spiritual essence, and nourish our immortal self, which transcends the death of the body and remains intact in the invisible realms of the spiritual plane.

The secret of our ego / identity is that whatever we associate with, we become like in nature. By associating and identifying with something, we move into it and merge with it, embody the same qualities, and take them on by expressing out of them, creating our experiences of ourselves, and shaping ourselves by way of them. We alter our vibratory frequency by working directly with our identity. Whatever identity we employ and exist out of, determine how we’re being in every moment and what type of story we act to naturally tell. Our identity is our character which forms all of our behavior, and how we enter into relationship with everything else. When we’re getting our identity from outside means, we’re always in the process of trying to control and manipulate them. We form strong attachments to outcomes and how others need to be in order for us to be okay. We’re literally being controlled by the very thing we seek to control. When we shift that mentality, and draw only on an inner source of being, it doesn’t matter what others do, and we have no need to quest after power, because we already possess it.

 
To identify with our Higher-Self is to focus our attention on “states of being” as qualities of consciousness. We embody and become those qualities and express through them to create in the world by how we enter into a new kind of relationship with it, and act therefore to directly influence it. Instead of saying that when I dress a certain way I feel confident, you become confident as a way of being regardless of how you’re dressed. You ask yourself, what does it mean to be confident, how would I feel if I was confident, and how would I act? What would my posture be? How would I think and talk? You develop the idea of what you’d have to be and do to “appear” confident. You then model those behaviors, practicing being that way, which makes you feel that way. If you continue to intentionally model being confident, by pretending to be, it starts becoming natural and not only acts to completely transform how you think and feel, but how you act naturally to influence other people by how it changes your “cause and effect” relationship as a natural interaction that takes place between you. In this way you cultivate that quality within you and it becomes a natural part of you. As you begin feeling, thinking, and being confident in all areas of your life, it transforms your identity by how you sense yourself and what kind of person you are. Whatever you allow to express through you, you become the same as.

 
When we develop ourselves by cultivating inner qualities we synthesize them into our being, and they remain a part of our eternal self. The quality of consciousness we possess creates the nature of our experiences which become the memory that makes up our soul. Our soul is built up and developed by the memories it acquires through the experiences of the body. At the death of the body and the material possessions we acquired, only what is an essential part of ourselves are carried forward and maintained. Our sense of self based on our body and our position and possessions, dies with the body. By identifying with the material world, we resonate with it, maintain a strong connection to it, and fail to ascend. Because we bond with our material identity, we continue to reincarnate on the lower planes of the Earth, and fail to utilize the power of our material existence to grow ourselves internally by consciously developing our character to a virtuous state and a higher level of vibration. When we identify with the spiritual plane, we form ourselves to be like it in consciousness, resonate and bond with it, and naturally ascend to it after we shed our material existence.

Changing Your Vibration through the Law of Polarity and Cultivating the Art of Attention

Our vibration is our mood or mental state that’s determined by or comes as the expression of feelings, moods, emotions, and behaviors. Whatever we focus on, give our attention to, and think about, modifies our state accordingly. Our will naturally directs our attention, and whatever we place our attention on and think about, changes our vibration as our state of mind. By cultivating the “Art of Attention” by means of exercising your will, you can learn how to control and determine your mood and mental state. It’s pretty easy to notice that what we give attention to and think about creates how we feel as a correspondence. How we feel sets our mood as a kind of tempo and determines what type of things we continue focusing on that are of the same feeling-mood that multiply and amplify it. Whatever mood we’re in determines how we experience the events of our day and what aspects of it we notice, pull out, and use to create our overall experience of any given event or situation.

 
All vibration is movement of conscious energy between poles of opposites. These poles exist as opposite qualities: hot – cold; happy – sad; love – hate; fear – courage; health – illness, and so on. Any mental state and its opposites are merely two poles or extremes of the same thing, separated only by degrees of variation that moves us from one to the other. We can transmute one state into another through a practical understanding of the Law of Polarity. We change our state by first deciding to, then willfully directing our attention to its opposite quality. Don’t waste your time trying to fight, kill, or stamp out a mental state, but instead learn to cultivate its opposite mental state. If you’re possessed by fear, don’t take an attitude of trying to fight the fear, but instead cultivate it’s opposing quality of courage, and in doing so, fear will disappear.

Attention is singular in nature. We can only focus on and give our attention to one thing at a time. Thought we can move from one thing to another, but at any given moment we’re only capable of focusing on and being fully aware of one thing at a time. Whatever we place our attention on and begin thinking about, we develop into whole realities just through thinking itself. Thought is creative and constructive in nature, and by placing our attention on something and beginning to think about it, we build whole realities around it by how we think about it. The mind is the builder and creator of reality. If we’re giving our attention to negative feelings, we grow only the realities that match and express the negativity, propagating and growing it into multiple experiences over and extended period of time. Likewise, by focusing only on the positive in terms of what we want to create and use as the means of creating our experiences out of, we form realities that are positive in nature, while growing and multiplying them.

 
To kill a negative quality, concentrate on the positive of the same quality, and the vibration as a mental state will gradually change from negative to positive, from undesirable to desirable, from destructive to constructive. Whatever aspect of a quality or mental state we focus and concentrate our energy on, we polarize ourselves to. If we focus on the negative, we become polarized to it, and vibrate at that frequency, creating our life experiences out of that state, and ourselves by way of our own self-created experiences. If you have an illness or disease, don’t concentrate on fighting the disease, but rather creating health in its place, and once health is established, the illness disappears. Whatever we give attention to and concentrate on, we give life to, and we energize and vitalize it and participate in actively creating it by thinking about it.

Whatever we focus on, think about, and imagine as realities or experiences, we align ourselves with, and become a co-creator of that reality. Whatever ideas or memories we choose to nourish and feed with our attention, we use to consciously create our experiences by way of the quality as a state-of-mind that idea produces. Our state of mind has very distinct realities inherent in it, and when we employ that state we act to faithfully create that type of reality as a personal experience. When we’re feeling scared, we focus on what’s causing us to feel scared, think about it in scary terms, run scenarios through our mind of possible realities that will result from it, amplifying and increasing the fear, and tuning ourselves to the vibratory frequency of the fear. This frequency as our mental state, becomes our “perceptual lens” that we “look through” and perceive (see) only what’s of the same vibratory frequency (nature) and can be imagined (remade) in such a way that it systematically produces more of the same fear. Like begets more of that which is like itself. Whatever vibratory frequency we tune ourselves to as our mental state, we become the channel for producing more of the same type of experiences. That quality of consciousness enters into us, becomes us in mind and body, and forms the means through which we perceive and create ourselves by way of it.

 
By changing our focus to one of courage, bravery, and confidence, and cultivating that feeling within us, imagining ourselves acting courageous, we begin feeling different, thinking different, and seeing in a different way. We imagine ourselves being courageous and confident in whatever situation we’re facing, and in doing so, fear no longer exists in us. It’s no longer a part of our reality. It disappears. We become tuned to the vibration of courage as a mental state, and not only experience all of life from this perspective, but also sensing ourselves “as” courageous and begin identifying with that experience of ourselves.

 
By understanding the Law of Vibration and Polarization – we have the formula for learning to use our will to regulate our attention and what we choose to concentrate on. By working consciously with the Law of Polarity we can change our mental state at will, and change our vibratory frequency as a result. By changing your polarity you master your mood, change your mental state, set your disposition, and build up your character from that perspective and through that quality. All pairs of opposites exist in degrees as a variation or gradient range that moves from one to another like a sliding scale. Our mind may be transmuted from state to state; degree to degree; condition to condition; pole to pole; vibration to vibration, through active and deliberate use of our will.

By changing our polarity, it not only changes what we see in our others and our environment and how we are influenced by our own perceptions, but also determines our ability to influence others and our environment. We directly affect our environment through our mental state. What we attract and feel attracted to is based on our mental state. How we influence others by our interaction with them, whether silent and energetic or actual, is produced by our mental state, which activates that same mental state in them, which is why we tend to only interact with those who share the same mental state. Our mental state not only determines our reality and what we naturally connect with and interact with all around us, but also determines what we bring out in others, and what reality we serve to co-create by the very attitude through which our behaviors come.

 
Our mental state as our vibratory frequency has a distinct patterning to it as qualities that form characteristics and our disposition as a perspective and tendencies, which sees only what matches the inner state doing the viewing, and determines how we form a basic interpretation of what we’re seeing that reforms it to be like us. To be a product of our vibratory frequency as a mental state that produces an equivalent outer reality. Not in objective and actual terms, but in subjective and experiential terms. Our vibratory frequency determines what stands out in our environment, what we notice and what elements we abstract and use as the basis for telling a story about that matches our mood and serves to express it, giving us a channel for bringing the inner feelings into the outer world as it’s equivalent in form and personality.

 
The most fundamental use of choice and free will comes through what we ‘choose” (whether consciously or unconsciously) to place our attention on and bring to life by thinking about it. As we think about something, whether an idea, memory, wish, or as a means of anticipating something, we merge into and become one with it in mind and body, and serve as the vehicle through which it comes into the world as our reality. Our focus and attention is what directs the spiritual forces as a projection that awakens and draws into us whatever we’re stimulating with our awareness and thought. We merge into and become united with whatever we think about and serve to give it life through us, as us. We become the channel for whatever mood we embody, and the thoughts themselves form the pathway between the inner and the outer that brings the imaginary inner world out into the outer world as a correspondence, by first vibrating to the mood and the form we give it through our thoughts, that stimulate that same vibration in everything around us and allows us to only perceive in everyone and everything else only what matches our vibration and thought-forms.

By understanding the power of our own mind in creating our experience of reality while creating us through the same mental state, we can learn to take control of our own mind by simply learning to be selective in what we give our attention to, think about, or actively engage in. We can begin by becoming aware of what we tend to focus on and give life to by nurturing it with our attention and allowing it to grow in us like a seed unfolding into a full-fledged reality that we mistaken for real, and whenever we’re thinking about something we don’t want to become, willfully redirect our attention onto what we do want to give life to instead and have as a part of our personal reality.

 
Allow yourself to notice that what you focus on and think about determines how you feel and what mood it puts you in. Along with this realization, notice that you can change your mood by simply changing what you’re focused on, giving your attention to, and thinking about. Change your focus, and you change your mood. Change your mood and you change your experience of reality. Change your experience of reality and you change your sense of self, and how you perceive yourself by way of your own self-created experiences. By learning to consciously direct your attention, you can create your state, regulate your vibratory frequency, and become self-determined. By removing your attention from people and ideas, they no longer exist as a part of your world or experience. By placing your attention on what you do want to become one with and create in your life, you take the most fundamental step in the art of self-creation and begin facilitating your own transformative process by mastering your own mind.

Taoist Philosophy – Principle of Action through Non-action

While many feel somewhat confused by how the Taoists state things, and believe that it’s not logical in nature, and while that may be true, what it’s really doing is stating something from a perspective that most aren’t used to looking through. Because of how this idea is stated, “action through non-action”, it’s often misinterpreted to somehow mean a meek and passive behavior, or the ability to resist certain actions through a form of self-control, or perhaps through the release of desire and attachment, and not being provoked to take action in relationship to what goes on around us. Yet, what this is really referring to is our actions not coming as a willful act, or as something that’s not natural and spontaneous, but rather deliberate and formed out of discipline, motive, or intention of some sort. Our will, when directed outward, as an intentional and deliberate act that goes against our inner nature through a form of resistance that seeks control of some sort, is karmic in nature. Instead of having to use our will to direct our behavior because it’s not natural and spontaneous, we use our will instead to cultivate our inner nature which produces our outer actions in a completely natural fashion. We act “on ourselves” to cultivate in us certain qualities and traits that form our basic character, out of which all behavior and actions come in a completely natural way. Because of this naturalness, our actions appear effortless.

 
The basic principle underlying Taoism is the Principle of Yin-Yang, which represents the Dyad as the primary idea inner and outer aspects of our nature as governed by the Feminine and Masculine aspects of our mind and body. It’s our inner nature or soul’s essence that naturally produces our outer behaviors in an immediate and flowing manner. The way to control our actions is not by attempting to willfully override our own tendencies, but rather to develop our very nature as our subconscious-yin mind to develop the character traits as qualities of consciousness that spontaneously give rise to all our outer actions in a natural way.
Likewise, the outer actions and events that we’re being influenced by, serve naturally to activate certain qualities within us in response to them. Through the Law of Action – Reaction, or Cause and Effect, the outer only has the ability to stimulate in us what’s there to stimulate. People and events can only call forth in us what already exists in us to be activated and serve as the pathway for outer expression as our actions or reactions, which comes in an automatic and instantaneous fashion. Instead of taking an attitude of refraining from the reactive behavior or by inducing our will to redirect our behavior, we use our will on ourselves instead operating by way of law to transform our inner nature by cultivating and developing virtuous qualities that come to form our subconscious, feminine aspect of our inner nature, in which only positive qualities exist, and negativity (anger, hate, greed, etc.) can’t be activated so there’s no need to “hold back” or control our own behavior, while the quality whose behavior we’re refraining from still rises in us, fills and possesses us, transforming our inner state to that quality. So even though we resist the behavior we still possess the consciousness that makes it necessary to exercise constant control over ourselves. We are still the conduit through which that quality has life, and in unguarded moments, we’ll still produce the actions of that quality of consciousness while incurring the karma that ensues from it. By purifying our inner nature, we don’t have to intentionally take action, but rather respond in a totally natural and spontaneous manner.

Mind

Through an understanding of the Yin and Yang Principles of the Feminine and Masculine aspects of ourselves, which represent our subconscious, body oriented mind as our inner nature and the source of force that prompts and motivates all outward expression as a fluid and natural outpouring; and our masculine aspect of our will and ability to take direct and intentional action, and instead of operating one against the other, we can use one to operate ‘on’ the other. We use our will on ourselves as a disciplined practice of virtuous qualities that develop our character accordingly, which naturally determines and produces all of our outward behaviors as a spontaneous and creative expression. In this way, all of our behavior is natural and effortless. We’re not resisting ourselves or preventing a state that has risen in us from outwardly expressing, but instead, we have abolished the state and the actions associated with it altogether, so it’s not in us to be activated, and never rises in us or is capable of expressing through us. In this way we work in harmony with the law instead of against it. Our masculine aspect provides the seed as an intention that our feminine aspect receives and grows into a practice of some sort, which becomes spontaneously expressed by our outer masculine aspect as our offspring. In this way we act on ourselves to develop ourselves, instead of being developed by others through our reactions to them.

 
Through disciplined use of our ability to choose, the will to engage in devoted practice necessary to cultivate our character by habituating virtuous qualities, in the presence of which negative ones no longer exist, building them into mind and muscle through practice, so they become a natural part of who we are and how we act. Through Yoga and disciplined arts that train the body to postures, states, and movements, we program our own mind-body system with natural qualities and behaviors that become spontaneous and effortless. Through meditative practices we can develop our own mind and character through the unified motion of the Yin and Yang within our own mind and inner nature.

 

 

Points to remember:
• The inner and the outer are in a constant relationship and interaction with each other. One stimulates in the other the same quality.

 
• All outer behavior and actions are created by whatever is active in our inner state. Whatever quality is activated becomes the basis for outward expression.

 
• You can only activate in someone what’s there to be activated. If the quality being expressed outwardly doesn’t exist “in” a person, the outside force has no affect on it.

 
• All outer behavior results from and is the expression of our inner state. One is an extension of the other.

 
• To change our behavior or actions, we have to change the inner state that’s acting to naturally produce it.

 
• By working with our inner nature, and cultivating our character, we can directly control and determine our outer, natural behaviors.

 
• Our behavior flows naturally from our inner state as a natural and spontaneous expression that comes without effort.

 
• We act from our subconscious mind without effort or intentional thought. The way to produce effortless and spontaneous action is by developing the inward state out of which it naturally arises.

Principle of Vibration – How Vibration becomes Reality

While many of us have seen how vibration as sound creates geometric patterns in elements like water and sand, many don’t fully realize how something as seemingly complex as reality is created by way of the very same vibratory frequencies. One way to understand this is by understanding the difference between a vibration and a frequency, or “range of vibration”. As well as the fundamental principle that governs the behavior of energy as resonance, sympathetic induction, and coherence. While vibration forms distinct patterns in the elements of the physical plane of material substances, it also forms patterns on the plane of light as photons, which we experience as the ghost-like substance that shapes ideas into images and living realities in our imagination, which is the formative and reality generating aspect of the mind. Vibration forms any matter or surreal substance into patterns as shapes, ideas, or objects. A cluster of vibrations or interlaced sequence of vibratory frequencies creates an array of images and interrelated ideas as a cohesive and greater reality of a multitude of patterns.

 
Vibration is the very foundation as the primordial energy of consciousness that permeates and creates on all levels of existence simultaneously as a dynamic series of interrelated correspondences and analogies. A frequency as a range of vibration clusters together similar vibrations that form a class, kind, type, or species, as the nature of the form that emerges as the expression or offspring of the vibration. Frequencies form a classification as a family or kind, that all share the same basic group of characteristics and a similar personality or behaviors. Form always determines function, and anything with similar physical characteristics or properties also function and behave in a similar fashion. All laws and principles in general are classified and represented by form as a geometric shape that gives it attributes and properties in certain measurement and proportion that naturally produce specific behaviors, functions, or operations. So the behavior and nature of someone reveals their vibratory frequency.

In all of Nature and the Cosmos as we know it, nothing is at rest, everything moves, everything vibrates. The differing manifestations of matter, which in its most primary form is photons as light or essence, is energy, mind, and spirit, all of which result from varying rates of vibration. The scale ranging from pure spirit and the subtlest energy down to the densest material object is vibrating at a specific rate (speed). The greater it’s vibratory rate the higher its position on the scale from high (invisible or translucent) to low (solid) manifestation. Spirit and matter are different degrees or extremes of the same thing. Matter itself does not contain consciousness or energy outside of what it draws into it from its environment through the invisible space around it. The subtle energy as consciousness is what either organizes or changes matter forming a unified body through a form of coagulation, or activates a growth process that manufactures matter as a regenerative process.

 
While lower life forms vibrate at a specific rate based on their kingdom, species, or kind, humans have a higher capacity of consciousness as creativity and can tune themselves to vibratory frequencies by how they use their minds to draw into them vibration as qualities of consciousness through their power of will and imagination and their ability to willfully direct their attention and form intentional thoughts as imagined ideas. The mind has the ability to direct and influence matter through its ability to shape astral light into thought forms that introduce a specific vibration that modifies the overall system as a correlation of corresponding vibrations of the same kind of reality. Our mental state is how we act to modify our physical state. Our mental state produces realities as the pattern or idea inherent in the state as a frequency.

The differences between various manifestations are due to varying rate and mode of vibration. Vibration is created by the movement between poles of opposites, where spirit is at one end and matter is at the other. Between these two poles are millions and millions of different rates and modes of vibration. All energy and matter are but modes of vibration and the mind is likewise, a field of energy as a mode of vibration or “state” that shapes and effects matter with that same vibration and quality of consciousness. While the rate of vibration may be seen as the form matter takes on, the “mode” imbues it with a form of personality. The mind is a form of subtle energy that’s formed from the Ether, which is what we call the universal mind in which all vibration exists in a state of pure potential (ideas not yet formed), and can be drawn on by any material form through the mind which inhabits that form, that’s of the same vibratory frequency through resonant induction.

 
A potential idea is a seed for a possible reality that’s drawn into the individual mind which naturally acts to modify the vibration of the idea by adapting it to the model of the mind, while simultaneously influencing the matter of the body, which is always a direct correspondence to the mind or soul that inhabits and animates it. As these vibrations of pure potential, not yet brought into form are introduced into the human mind, they’re shaped into concepts as imagined forms and possible realities. Every vibration as a pattern is an objective idea that provides the seed for producing a reality based on how its shaped in the mind of the individual conceiving it, and though it’s shaped into a unique variation of that idea, it holds true to that idea as one of millions of possibilities for creating that idea as a living reality that can be experienced in sensory terms.

The pattern as a self-organizing structure inherent in the vibration, while forming geometric patterns when sound vibration is used, in its silent form, when received by the higher intelligence of the human mind, it forms light-essence into a pattern as an idea for creating a reality as a personal creation. It shapes the vibration as an idea into a light form as an internal representation of an outer material reality, or phenomena. How it’s shaped or grown in the individual mind is based on the current frequency of that mind, which also has a distinct personality to it, and determines how it’s reformed as a unique variation. So while we all have the ability to tune into and draw into us ideas from this unified field of mass or universal consciousness, we’re only capable of drawing into us what’s of the same frequency or within close range of our frequency, and reshape it to match or correspond to our overall frequency as a theme, that personalizes it.

 
We can also intentionally use our mind to tune into a certain frequency by how we think and what type of ideas we focus on and contemplate, and use to form internal realities by how we imagine them. This energy which exists in polarity of positive and negative aspects as degrees between two extremes of the same quality, can be used to tune us to a higher frequency by consistently focusing on and thinking about positive, constructive, and beneficial ideas, that build up our frequency, increasing our vibration and what we’re able to conceive of and draw into us as a channel for the expression of the reality inherent in the vibration. As we increase our thoughts to a positive higher vibration, until they become natural and normal, or what we think about in a routine sense, we move ourselves along an invisible scale from lower to higher vibrations increasing our frequency and what we’re capable of acting as the channel for bringing into the world as a corresponding reality.

The way a vibration becomes a reality as the pattern or formative force inherent in it, is through the faculty of the imagination as the three-dimensional thoughts that birth the pattern by shaping astral light into a thought-form. Our imagined thoughts are also the natural means for tuning ourselves to a higher vibration by directing our attention and purposely contemplating certain ideas as our general thoughts while simultaneously removing our attention from other types of thinking and imagining that are either petty and meaningless, or outright destructible and harmful, either to ourselves or to others. Our will is our thinking. Whatever we think about we will by bringing into form, first through the thoughts themselves by imagining them, and forming internal dialogue around them, then by speaking and communicating through them, while forming a belief around them. Anything we can imagine as real is also believable.

Spiritual Guidance – Birthing Our Higher Self within Our Lower Mind

The idea of spiritual guidance is a little bit different for everybody because it’s based on what we’ve been taught and accepted as true, what we’ve come to believe about ourselves and the nature of reality, and our own personal style which simply emerges naturally through practice. When we bring an idea into practice, we not only develop our own personal technique for doing things, but we engage in the principles governing it, and naturally move through steps or stages of development that naturally ensue as a form of growth process. These stages of development come as an active and progressive process where we tune into the invisible realm of consciousness that underlies and operates through the physical realm, that develops an intuitive awareness around things that are normally hidden or not recognized, that tend to come more as signs, symbols, messages, coincidences, and synchronicities as a chain-of-association where we begin seeing the interconnectedness that underlies surface appearances.

 
This stage, usually brought on by tuning into a higher form such as God, our Higher-Self, Angels, Spirit guides, Masters, and so on, operates out of a basis of perceived separation (us and them), and usually involves “asking” of some form. This starts the ball rolling, and begins developing our intuition by recognizing and sensing invisible forces of consciousness, that bleed through surface appearances and comes as a “feeling” about things that connects it to other ideas through the “nature” of the feeling, or reveals to us hidden aspects being disguised in material objects, and more significantly, in people. This stage is very inspiring and motivates us through the sense of magic that it contains. It engages us in a mystery with a sense of curiosity that brings new realizations that forms a fascination around things. This is the stage where we begin connecting to the inner nature of things as a form of soul-to-soul communication that comes as direct experience that brings a realization as recognizing and perceiving its spiritual nature.

Through this initial stage of praying and asking that brings answers through realizations that begin exercising and developing our ability to perceive things intuitively, introduces us to a whole new realm of reality. It also begins introducing us experimentally to the idea of interlaced parallel dimensions and a hierarchy as kingdoms, which define “whole” realities that are inherent within even greater realities. It initiates the realization that at a higher level of consciousness that sees the reality that we’re within as a “whole” rather than a segmented part, can also “orchestrate” the events of our life based on the principle of choice and will, which is really a form of vibration and resonance. We begin realizing that while we may view praying as an intentional act that we take a moment, stop what we’re doing, and concentrate on an idea that we’re dealing with or want, and consciously ask for it, in reality, we’re in a constant form of prayer through our very thinking, what we talk about and tell others, and most importantly through our emotional states and the behaviors they produce that not only form our interactive quality, but are also a form of cause and effect that draw to us direct, and often immediate consequences. The Higher Powers cannot act on our life by bringing us what is not equivalent to our quality and level of consciousness, but rather acts through us, as us. This usually comes as a notion about something, an idea that pops into our head that we start thinking about, a mental impression that starts coming to us on a regular basis, or we simply start getting a feeling about something, but either way, it’s up to us to allow it to come through us, and to act on it, rather than dismissing it or blowing it off, ignoring it, or changing it by adapting it to our story about things, or we doubt it as being a fantasy or “self-generated” thought born out of wishful thinking.

 

 

This stage, like all stages of growth, plateau’s, and seems to loose its punch. This usually comes as a feeling like we go through “dry spells” where we’re no longer receiving guidance, are no longer experiencing intuitive awareness, and life seems to return to it’s mundane and ordinary status as unremarkable. Sometimes people become dependent on what they experience as “spirit guides” of some sort that are separate from them and tell them what to do, or give them guidance as a communication of some sort. When this happens, and we become fully invested in a reality of “separateness”, where we continue to perceive ourselves and “another”, we either stay in this experience and become a form of surrogate or channel for another spirit to use in order to act and create in the physical realm, or we move into a stage where though the intuitive awareness remains and has become apart of our normal experience, we feel as if we’re no longer being “guided”. This is because we’ve developed our inner abilities as our higher capacities to realize what we need to guide ourselves through more of a willingness to act on our intuition with complete faith even though we often don’t know why or what it will result in, or where it will act to ultimately lead us.

We are given the challenge of fully accepting the spiritual realm as the true reality that’s always transparent and never lies. It can also come as a void because what it shows us requires us to move beyond our comfort zone, act in contradiction to a belief we hold, or the fact that it only comes through being present and never shows us the outcome or holds the promise of a wish fulfilled, but comes as more of a momentary realization that requires us to act on it in the moment that it comes as an automatic response, by becoming one with it in motive and action, and in doing so, the next prompt or impression comes out of the experience of moving into ideas as the systematic unfolding of a larger idea given to us one step at a time. If we realize intuitive impressions but don’t act on them or willingly penetrate them by stepping into them, they don’t continue to unfold, because of course they can’t. We don’t use them as the guidance they’re intended for, because we’re not sure of where they’re leading us or why. Sometimes we can’t tell the difference between an actual “sign” and something that we’re simply making up in our mind as a form of fantasy because we don’t know how to discern the difference. Other times we don’t like where they seem to be leading us, and so we don’t go, and then continue to ask for more guidance.

 
At other times the reason guidance appears to stop is because it’s evolved beyond the idea of separation from ourselves, and into the idea of birthing our Higher-Self by becoming one with it in body and mind. Just as the subconscious mind emerges out of the higher conscious, and the self-conscious mind emerges out of the subconscious mind through a birth and growth process, our higher mind (re)emerges out of our individual mind as our “self”. It emerges as an aspect of ourselves that we allow to rise in us (by inviting it in), as us, and become us in consciousness and through an altered perspective. We fully allow our spirit to be “in us”, and acting as one with us. We create our “sense of self” as our Higher Self. In order to do this we have to become aware of the different aspects of our mind and how they feel as a mode of functioning.

 
The experience of our Higher Self has a very mature quality to it, that’s strangely non-personal, and has a distinctly objective holistic awareness that sees us as playing a part in a larger dynamic, and directs our awareness and behavior to serve the greater good of everyone involved, rather than our own personal needs. It takes on more of a parental perspective where we see our life as a movie or story being played out where we’re NOT the main character, but simply one of the characters playing a role in a greater idea. Because of this non-personal quality that’s not working out of a personal belief-system or agenda, it moves us into a role that we don’t normally know how to play. It has a feeling of absolute knowing as intuitive awareness of whole patterns where our actions are geared towards becoming a neutral and universal force that influences the greater drama being played out by how we interact with it and the quality of consciousness as a state of mind that we employ while doing so. It has a benevolent quality, not as emotional sentiment or piety, but in terms of recognizing the karma being played out and honoring people as they are within our own life, without imposing our will on them, but rather by acting on them in a way that encourages insight as self-awareness of the consciousness they’re living out as patterns. It’s suggestive and demonstrative rather than opposing or challenging. It works through a masterful knowledge of the subconscious mind and how to introduce ideas like seeds that are willingly taken in, allowed to take hold, spawning whole thought processes as the formation of inner realities that shift their awareness, allowing them to see new things that alter and expand the patterns they’re currently acting out at the subconscious level.

We are brought to a point in our own development where we’re shown that the next step is to actively merge into and become with our Higher-Self, which is the source of our true spiritual guidance. This unity that no longer perceives it as “out there”, and therefore requiring communication as prayer and asking as a means of receiving, becomes instead about self-awareness, employing this higher level of consciousness, and experiencing it through a direct, heightened awareness of things that’s emerged in the present and never distracted or preoccupied with time as a constant engagement in imagined realities as thoughts of the past or future. In the spiritual realm time doesn’t exist as a property and our only awareness is in the present moment as a form of singularity that’s intimately connected to everything else. It doesn’t act by re-imagining the past over and over, detached from the present like our lower self which resides “in time” and lost in illusions of its own making. Our Higher Self doesn’t even necessarily “think” in terms of internal dialogue, but rather is involved in the experience of the present and our immediate environment. Its language is feeling oriented and emotional, rather than words and redundant dialoguing that consumes the imagination with fantasies rather than intuitive perceptions of the present.

 
Once we make this transition, and begin actively birthing and giving precedence to our Higher-Self, we no longer ask for guidance, but simply tune into it through our inner feelings about things, and we no longer allow other people’s emotions to enter into us and control us by altering our state to match them, but instead sense their emotions objectively as a form of realizing their quality of consciousness as their mental paradigm, where we can see them as they actually are, instead of blending with them by taking on their emotional charges and cooperating in acting out the drams that ensue from them. When we become immune to other people’s emotions, opinions, and projections, a whole new awareness and reality begins forming that creates a quickening as a transformation that changes forever how we perceive life and how we sense our self by way of our perceptions. We begin creating ourselves out of this higher, mature awareness, and as we identify with our own experiences, it transforms us from the inside out. Our identity is transformed through our experience of the outer world which gives us a new sense about things and our role in playing out a larger idea from a detached perspective, and we become a different person as a result. We become one with God, and become god-like. We lose our personal sense of the world and our endless struggle to find our place in things, and take on more of a non-personal, universal, and neutral position where we no longer identify with our body or personality, but form our identity as our Higher Self which resides predominately in the higher, spiritual realm. Through this process, we spiritualize our lower nature transforming it to a higher level of consciousness.

Our Vibratory Frequency is our Soul’s Essence

The term vibratory frequency is used a lot to describe ideas around ascension or spiritual awakening, without really explaining what it means or how to actually alter your vibratory frequency as an intentional act or form of self-development. In order to be able to work with anything in a conscious and deliberate manner we have to have a fundamental understanding of it in practical terms. Through an inherent understanding we can either employ methods or create methods of our own for working on ourselves to facilitate our own growth, and alter our level of consciousness which “is” our vibratory frequency.

 
In order to understand vibration, we have to look at the nature of energy itself, not as a form of electricity, although electricity is a form of energy, but in terms of the “subtle” energy that permeates all of life and the universe as a whole, which is a very dynamic form of consciousness, often referred to as “life-force” that forms a synchronistic step-down process that in-forms and animates matter through specific characteristics as a “quality” of consciousness. Consciousness itself exists as a dynamic configuration of various attributes and qualities that form characteristics. Vibration as a quality of consciousness forms patterns as a form of accumulated memory, that “in-forms” matter with corresponding qualities and behaviors.

Vibration as a state-of-mind emanates corresponding realities through a form of projection and mental filters, as a natural expression of that vibratory frequency as a dynamic matrix of various forms of memory all created out of the same quality as a “theme”. The vibratory frequency as the core or essential nature emanates and projects onto the environment and others forming our perception of them through the filter of our mind, which reforms them into the same image (basic pattern) and likeness (dynamic qualities and behaviors) as itself (resonance alters vibration and restructures it forming coherence). In other words, we reshape others to be like us by how we interpret them through the story we tell about them. The “story” we tell is the offspring of a larger pattern as an “over-all theme” which “is” our vibratory frequency in the most practical sense. Vibration as a quality of consciousness forms our character which is ideal for telling certain types of stories, which are dynamic patterns that are altered forming endless variations based on how we adapt it to a variety of situations and circumstances. While the elements being used to tell the story may change, the story itself holds true to a consistent theme. Vibrations as states have whole realities inherent in them. These vibratory frequencies as living patterns are often referred to as “spheres of consciousness”, which symbolize the Monad.

 
Vibrationally speaking, we can only enter into other spheres of consciousness that are of the same vibratory frequency, and naturally lend themselves to forming the same thematic structures. We can only perceive ourselves (what’s of the same nature) in others. Resonance which awakens and vibrates the same frequency through energetic sympathy in others, enters into them and affects them by stimulating the same qualities and bringing them out through the nature of the interaction itself, which develops both people into a new pattern (interference pattern) based on the qualities they share in common.

Vibration produces certain types of experience as it’s expressive component, that then become memory as a form of programming that builds itself out of more of the same vibration, amplifying and increasing it. Change the nature of the experience that forms a new kind of memory, which exists at both the mind and cellular level, and you form a new structure accordingly. We can only work directly with our vibratory frequency through our state of mind as a basic mood. All experience emerges as a direct correspondence to our mood. Our state determines what type of thoughts we think, what realities we form in our imagination, and the emotions we experience in reaction to our own thoughts. By cultivating and working intentionally to create the proper state of mind out of which we experience life through the stories we tell ourselves about it, we work directly to alter our vibratory frequency. By holding a certain state or mood consistently and creating our experiences out of that state, that we then identify with and become new memories which begin building up through an accumulative affect, we can literally alter, and hopefully raise our vibration through use of our will as intention action.

 
Because we are held within a certain vibratory range, most change comes in a gradual way as a form of progression. When we begin forming an awareness of what our state of mind is in the general sense, we can also begin realizing why our life is the way it is, and we can decide on what type of changes we want to make, and what mind-set that reality would naturally flow out of. Our state of mind is basically created three ways, each of which acts to unify the other two. Our state is created by what we focus on, what we tell ourselves about what we’re focused on that gives it meaning, and what we’re doing with our bodies as our physiology. These three aspects are always in-sync with each other. Change any one of these, and you change the other two automatically, to form a unified state.

 
If you feel as if you can’t control your thoughts and what you give your attention to, then you can work by way of changing the story you’re telling yourself about it, or by changing your physiology. Change what you’re doing with your body. Notice that the body is always a direct and proportional reflection of the mind. Positive states have behaviors inherent in them. Employ those behaviors, and you alter your state accordingly. By becoming active, energetic, expressive with your hands and body gestures, or how you hold yourself in general, your posturing, you feel different, sense yourself in a different way, and alter your state of mind to match it.

So the most direct way to alter your vibratory frequency is by learning how to manage your own mind in terms of what you are focused on, channeling attention into, how your thinking about it in terms of what you’re telling yourself about it that makes it mean something, and how that’s reflected in your body language. While we may think that we have no control over these in the direct sense, because they are largely unconscious and automatic in nature, the fact of the matter is, we do have control. We just have to realize we do, and begin practicing “choosing” and intentionally creating our mood by how we’re using our own mind.

 
By becoming aware of our different moods, and what strategy we’re employing as a means of producing those moods, we can develop a strategy for intentionally producing whatever state of mind we want to based on what type of experiences we want to create. Then, by taking control of what we focus on, how we look at what we’re focused on, and what we’re doing with our body, we can intentionally control our own state of mind, and in doing so, work consciously with our vibratory frequency and the type of realities as our personal experiences that we live out of and act to create as a result. By recognizing our own tendencies and what type of story we’re always in the process of telling ourselves, and living out by how we act and how we influence other people to embody the same mood, we can begin working consciously in our own lives to learn how to tell a new story. One that we want to tell and one that we want to use to intentionally change our memories to produce a new way of being in our own lives. In doing this, we alter our vibration and evolve our soul into new forms of expression breaking old karmic patterns.

A New Paradigm: Viewing Health from the Perspective of Principles

What we call modern Medicine in our Western society, has for the most part been taught to approach everything from a left-brain, separate and analyze each part as if it’s separate and independent from all other parts, while emphasizing some parts as significant (whole in themselves), and others as insignificant, or we simply ignore them altogether because of course we haven’t quite figured out what they actually do, or what role they play in the whole biological process. We then abstract from the whole only what we deem to be the important aspects, and concentrate them somehow (mega doses), or recombine them with other formulas that they don’t naturally exist within as part of a dynamic process as a synchronized series of laws that perform entire processes within our body when ingested.

 
We form synthetic, artificial products in place of whole foods, which naturally contain the complete workings of a whole physiological process, then enhance the artificial food with chemical additives for taste, texture and preservation (increased shelf life), and fortify them with the synthetic version of singularly extracted vitamins, in what we deem a healthy combination, without ever seeming to realize that the body, which is a biological life form, can’t digest and assimilate artificial food properly, and many of the substances in whole foods that we ignore and discard are necessary for utilizing all the other nutrients in the food in order to be properly absorbed and assimilated.

We are taught only to look at vitamins, calories, salt, sugar, fat, etc., which is in reality an ignorant response to ignorance. What we need to do, is employ our right-brain ability to look at everything as “whole systems” that contain everything it needs to not only produce the chemistry it’s made of, but also digest and utilize all the nutrients within the food. By eating whole foods as “actual” vegetables, fruits, grains, and seeds, we are not only getting everything we need to produce homeostasis in our body, but we won’t be getting any of the added chemicals, which is what’s causing all the health problems. We don’t get illness, disease and cancers from natural whole foods found growing and naturally produced in Nature. We only get them from artificial, processed, synthetic, chemical based additives, which, in our natural environment, we’d never eat.

 
So the first rule to creating health is to eliminate processed foods, and create a natural diet based on whole foods grown organically, without pest-herbicides, or chemical hormones and antibiotics. Cooking and preparing food is a basic life skill that everyone should know and participate in. Learn how to cook and make things from scratch. To take this a step further, take up the art of gardening and learn how to grow your own food. Not only is it pleasurable, relaxing, and gives you a means of getting out in the sunshine and exercising, but you also have the peace of mind of knowing exactly what you’re eating, and confidence in the fact that you’re acting to consciously create your own health!

Learning to Relax: The Art of Managing your Emotional State

One of the first things we need to realize when working to change conditioned tendencies and habits of any kind, is that we don’t have to ‘stop’ something, but rather begin ‘doing’ something else. So to say things like “stop stressing out”, “quit worrying”, or “just relax”, don’t mean anything in the truest sense, because we’re not telling them “how” to do it, or “what” to do instead. Just as you have to learn how to quit thinking in terms of what you ‘don’t want’, and focus on what you ‘do want’ instead, when changing any behavior or practice, we simply direct our attention into a different activity and concentrate on doing it, knowing that in doing so, we’ll give ourselves a new behavior to do in place of the behavior we’re eliminating. All creation and transformation begins by learning to control and direct our attention into what we want to do, rather than what we don’t. We don’t ever quit habits, but rather transform them into new habits.

 
The first component to learning how to systematically relax your body is by learning to breathe correctly. While this idea has a funny sound to it, because it’s something we all do naturally and therefore are hardly ever instructed on ‘how’ to do it, comes by becoming aware of the power of our breathing, and the relationship it has with all other mental, emotional, and physical functions of our mind-body system. Just by focusing our attention on our breathing, turns our attention inwards and we become centered in our body. By first taking a couple of deep breaths, regulates our breathing, which can then be allowed to fall into a smooth and consistent rhythm. By breathing deeply, extending into the abdomen, we influence all major body systems with the same rhythmic motion, synchronizing them. When we inhale deeply, then pause in a slight hesitation, before exhaling, then slightly hesitating again before drawing in our next breath, prevents us from hyperventilating, and also introduces a form of timing, that calms the mind and relaxes the whole body by way of the same double count. Draw in, relax, release, and relax.

 
You’ll notice that just by regulating your breathing in a conscious way, simultaneously calms your mind, releases emotional tension held in the body, and slows your heart rate down. As your heart rates drops to a relaxed state, your blood pressure drops with it, and more tension is released. If your mind starts drifting away from your breathing, simply redirect your attention back into the rhythm of your breath and become present once again in your body. As you continue breathing in a relaxed pace, bring your attention to how different parts of your body feels. Get a good sense of anyplace in your body that your holding tension of some kind.

Then, become aware of your feet, place your attention on your feet, and set the intention to relax them, and gently, but firmly tell them to relax. Feel them relax. Tell yourself, my feet are relaxed. Then become aware of your calves, and mentally direct your calves to relax. Repeat the same process to relax your lower legs. Then, repeating this process move systematically through your thighs, hips, abdomen, lower back, up your spine to your shoulders, into your chest, yours arms, shoulders and neck, up the back of your head, your ears, jaw, face and eyes. Systematically using your mind to relax your whole body. If you notice at any point that some part of your body already relaxed is starting to tense back up, simply stop and relax that part again, then pick up where you left off. Once your whole body is relaxed, just take a moment to notice how it feels. Be present with the feeling of your body, and sense yourself in a fully relaxed state.

 
Allow yourself to notice that as your body relaxes, so does your mind. Your mind is in sync with your body. They share the same feeling state. You feel a distinct calmness and inner peace throughout your entire being, and just allow yourself to notice . . . how good it feels . . . to relax. Give your full attention to this feeling of inner peace, and relish in it for a bit. Then, move your attention outward, expanding into your peripheral while staying centered in your body, and simply ‘feel’ everything around you. Notice how it feels to be there, to be present “in it” and a part “of it”. Notice the things around you, while refraining from “thinking about them”, and instead simply notice how they feel as you give them your attention and how that feeling resonates in your body.

 
Notice that when you calm your obsessive thinking, and focus on how it feels to be present with life, that time seems to stand still, your awareness expands out away from you, and you become intimately part of the space around you. When you’re no longer focused on listening to your own thoughts, and blend into the silence outside of you, you begin realizing that there’s a whole reality going on, that, for the most part, you’re completely unaware of, because you normally exist primarily in the reality produced by your own thinking and imagining mind. And while you hear the sounds around you, which are outside of you, you simultaneously feel the pulsation of your own heartbeat and feel an inner silence that brings a strange feeling of contentment and inner peace. Content . . . to just BE.

 
As you continue to practice this, starting with a couple of times a day, you’ll begin noticing that you not only feel better and have more energy (tension requires a lot of energy to maintain), and that you can concentrate deeper and for longer periods of time, but that you aren’t experiencing “negative” emotions nearly as often. This is because most emotions, particularly negative ones, form tension in your body. Notice that whenever you experience strong emotions, your whole body tenses up, with distinct concentrations of tension and strong sensations in particular parts of your body. You can work to control and regulate your emotional states just by learning to keep your body in a relaxed state. By managing your physical state, you simultaneously manage your emotional state to be equivalent, and you also manage your thoughts.


Notice, that when you feel relaxed, you have a tendency to feel positive (or neutral) emotionally, and your thoughts which are normally produced by others, environmental influences, and your emotional states, slow down, become relaxed and take on a somewhat pleasant quality. Also allow yourself to notice that some emotions actually produce a relaxed state, specifically feelings of love, beauty and grief. So as you begin releasing tension from your body, and develop the ability to maintain a relaxed state consistently, you begin naturally experiencing more pleasant emotions and the type of thoughts that go with them.

 
Start off doing this practice for short periods of between 5 and 15 minutes, once or twice a day, and begin using it to go to sleep at night. The more you do it, the easier it gets, and the quicker you can enter the full state of relaxation. By practicing for 4 to 6 weeks, a couple of times a day, it’ll become natural to you and you’ll be able to induce the state at will in an instant fashion. The more you do it, and the easier it gets, you may notice that you start extending the length of time naturally (relaxing feels good). Do whatever comes natural that you’re comfortable with doing. Once you’ve been doing it for awhile, and realize how good it feels, you’ll start doing it more often. You’ll begin using it like a tool for “self-management” anytime you feel stressed, anxious, or having a strong emotional event of some sort. The more present and relaxed you become in your life, the healthier and happier you’ll be in the most general sense.
