Self-Mastery: Learning how to not be affected by others

Many of us spend our whole life a slave to the attitude, behaviors, and opinions of other people. We’re in a constant form of reaction from one moment to the next, beings jerked around like a puppet on strings, often crushed by a rude comment. If someone is hateful or sarcastic in some way towards us, it can throw us into a tailspin that can last for days, weeks, or even months. Someone with a bad attitude that’s also aggressive can outright terrify us, especially with all the mass shootings being staged and publicized around the world. Most people spend their entire life being shaped and determined by other people and the rules of society, usually without any direct awareness of how it’s happening or the reason why. Many people have completely lost touch with their soul and their real power to create in their life, and don’t even realize it.

One of the most basic forms of empowerment comes from a fundamental understanding of psychology and what it is that drives people’s behaviors. By coming to understand what drives other people’s behaviors, we can gain a better understanding of our own behavior in response to them. We’re all only capable of “bringing out in others” more of what’s “like us”. Whatever qualities we embody and express outwardly act to stimulate and bring out those same qualities in others as a natural response to us. Energetically, we’re always vibrating the same state of mind in everyone we interact with. We’re always in the process of mentally and emotionally influencing others to become more like us by how we perceive them and treat them accordingly.

Anyone who has been beat down and criticized as a child, either grows up to beat others down with the same type of criticism and mental attitude, or they remain super sensitive to anyone who has an attitude of criticizing them. The act of criticizing produces an equal and complementary reaction. The effect produced is always an expression of what caused it. There are no exceptions to this rule. The confusion tends to come when we only look at one side of the equation, instead of recognizing that everything operates as a whole pattern. All patterns form as a “dynamic” that’s holistic in nature and played out unconsciously through our basic perception, attitude, conditioned tendencies, and automatic behaviors.

Most people when being criticized or dealing with a sarcastic or mean person, focus almost exclusively on the person they perceive as doing it “to them”, rather than focusing on what’s happening inside of them as their own reaction. All energy, which is what emotional expression is, exists in a fundamental state of polarity as complementary opposites that move in-sync with each other. Anger, for example, provokes either and equal or greater response of anger, which escalates and intensifies it, or it causes a fearful response that backs down and becomes submissive. Any emotional response, whether sympathetic or antipathetic, nurtures and sustains the anger/emotion because both people are cooperating with each other in co-creating a joint reality out of the “active force” of anger. Any “reaction”, which comes in an immediate and automatic fashion that matches the energy being projected, is a basic form of control. Anytime we’re reacting, we’re being controlled by whatever it is we’re reacting to. The easiest way there is to control someone is through their emotions and the sensationalized realities they create internally.

 Every human being develops their own “mental paradigm” based on their formative conditioning. All of our initial conditioning takes place while we’re in a primarily unconscious state, and acts to literally “program” our subconscious as the “model” of reality we form from it. All of our values, beliefs, preferences, and initial (developmental) memories are instilled in us as kids through our family dynamics. As we become adults our basic personality and way of perceiving others and the world around us has been firmly established and we simply continue to live out of the same perceptions, tendencies, and relationship dynamics that we were a part of as kids. We continue to view the world and others the same way we were taught. In psychology we say that “we become one of our parents, and we marry the other one”. Whatever type of relationships was modeled for us as kids and that we played an active role in, becomes the same type of relationships we enter into and maintain romantically, socially, and professionally. We play out the same ideas over and over with different people and situations.

These dynamics become the themes that serve as a metaphor for our life. They usually involve ideas around our self-esteem (image of ourselves), such as not being good enough, not being worthy, not loved or wanted, being stupid, bad, ugly, and so on, which is why they ultimately serve as self-fulfilling prophecies that we wrap our identify around as adults. We “become” whatever we’ve been programmed psychologically to become by what we were told, heard being said about us, and how we were treated by those we cared about the most. These life themes become what we refer to psychologically as “core beliefs” that are like the nucleus of our mental model and spawn all of our other beliefs as being correlated to the same basic idea.

Dissecting Our Experience

In order to really grasp the significance of this idea, let’s take a moment and examine how it is that we create our experiences. While we tend to think that others are capable of doing something “to us”, when we examine the process closely, we can realize that we’re actually the one doing it to ourselves. We are in fact the sole creator of all our “experiences”. This idea is often confused as being our “reality” in the objective sense of what happens outside of us, when in fact how we experience what happens to us is an internal process that we perform and conduct “on” ourselves using our mind. Creating our experiences comes initially as an “unconscious process”, which means we do it naturally without any “direct awareness” of the fact that we’re actually the one doing it to ourselves. Due to the naturalness of the process, it usually completely eludes us. Yet in order to gain control over our own natural and unconscious processes, we have to form an understanding of them as a mental concept. So let’s turn our full attention inward and become aware of how we form our reactions to others.

When someone says or does something that’s offensive, hurtful, sarcastic, or mean, something that’s designed to get a rise out of us and place us in their control, we experience it as an intense internal stimulus that comes as an “emotional charge”. Once you experience the emotional stimulus, you instantly associate it to a memory where the same type of emotion and behavior was involved. Through association to a past event of the same kind, the same emotion and state are awakened and made active in you, bringing it out in you as a natural reaction. Your mind interprets “this” to mean the same thing as “that”, and you react in the present with the same emotional behavior as the past. We then act out the same behaviors and dynamics, and begin telling ourselves the same type of story about what it means about them and us in relation to them.

The story we tell ourselves as our thoughts and internal dialogue follow the same theme as our memory of the past. Emotions are always associated to memories we formed while in the same emotional state. Emotions are what drive and produce all of our natural and automatic behaviors. We’re most naturally and easily made to behave in certain ways through our emotions. Emotional memories give our subconscious the “pattern” it needs for producing automatic realities and behaviors that don’t require any thought, appraisal or decisions.

When we live out of our emotions we live out of the memories and conditioning of our past and continue to create more of the same type of experiences. We repeat the same patterns with the same type of people and relive the same type of experiences in new ways over and over. As we create our experiences, we simultaneously identify with them, and shape ourselves “through” our experiences. We once again replay the broken and worn out record that says we’re not good enough, worthless, stupid, not wanted, loved, blah, blah, blah, and due to the fact that we produce an “experience of ourselves” out of the emotional charge, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

From a purely psychological perspective, we only “react” to and feel hurt or threatened by those who are conditioned to the same type of dynamics as we are, and therefore naturally play the role necessary for acting it out. Whenever we’re triggered by someone’s behavior towards us, it’s actually providing us with a mirror to learn how to see things in ourselves that we’re normally not fully aware of. It’s showing us where we’re still living out of the illusions and pain of the past that we never came to terms with, identified accurately, or put to rest. It’s still alive and active within us because we haven’t gained any real awareness around it that brought self-realization. Due to the fact that we still maintain a belief around it as being true, we continue to faithfully act it out over and over with the right people.

A person’s attitude and behaviors stem from their mental paradigm and psychological complexes, and in reality, have nothing to do with us. When someone calls us stupid, it doesn’t mean that we are in fact stupid, but shows us that they were made to feel stupid as a kid growing up, and are now compensating by trying to make others feel stupid in order to somehow elevate themselves above them. The lower they make someone else, the higher they become in comparison. They’re unconscious beings who are used to verbally attacking others in the same way they were verbally abused. Their opinion, perception, attitude and conduct only serves to “reveal” who “they are” and says nothing meaningful about us . . . unless, of course, we let it.

When we take what others say and do personally by internalizing it, we actually believe what they’re saying and accept it as being true about us, especially if we grew up being called the same names. The reason we “react emotionally” is because we’re used to it and we’ve been treated that way in the past. When we react by being hurt or offended, we’re actually agreeing with them and may secretly feel it’s somehow true. That’s what a reaction is. We know how to play a role in the reality they’re creating, and so we cooperate by participating in making it real. For example, if you know you’re not stupid or dumb, and someone calls you that, it has no effect on you in the most basic sense; outside of the fact that you may think they’re being rude. Nothing gets stimulated internally and there are no memories of the same type that are necessary to produce and automatic and immediate reaction. Anytime we react to being called a name it’s because deep down inside we think it may be true.

Self-Observation and Realization

In order to understand this psychological process, simply observe your own reactions from a neutral and unbiased standpoint. Start by finding a place and time where you can have privacy, and sit calmly and fully relax. Then recall an event where you felt hurt or upset by something someone said or did to you, and reflect on it in slow motion. Slow it down and review it step by step. Recall what was said or done, how it was said or done, what attitude, emotions, and behaviors were involved, and what it was regarding. Then turn all of your attention inward and focus exclusively on your own internal process.

Recall the emotional charge as it entered your body, and notice where in your body it lodged and stimulated you. Notice the nature of the stimulus by describing it in sensory terms. Was it sharp and stabbing, did it give you a sinking feeling, or did it cause you to feel afraid or scared? Notice what emotion was activated in you, and while refraining from going into a reaction again or telling yourself a story about it that justifies your right to react the way you did, just notice and witness what you’re thought process was and what it seemed to be about.

Allow yourself to notice what it brought up for you. What memory of the past started playing out in the background of your mind. What is it that you begin telling yourself about what it “means”? Then allow a natural chain-of-association to form as any other related or similar memories or scenario’s that it acted to prompt. Notice and become aware of anything that arises in relation to this event. Resist the tendency to repress it in any way, explain it away, or justify your right to be hurt or upset, and just observe your own internal process from a neutral and unbiased perspective. Then allow yourself to realize that you’re actually the one “creating” the state of being hurt or upset. No one is thinking your thoughts or feeling your feelings for you. You’re actually the one “doing it” to yourself by how you’re using your mind and body. It may feel as if you can’t help it (which is what unconscious means), but just notice and watch what’s going on inside of you.

Once you gain true self-awareness around what’s happening and why, and you bring what’s happening unconsciously into conscious awareness, this awareness alone neutralizes its effect. At the same time, you can become aware of what it is in you or about you that you need to heal and transform. All true healing is psychological in nature, and comes only by shedding light on the hidden aspects of your own psyche. We naturally act to heal ourselves by becoming aware of the patterns as memories we incurred as children that are continuing to act out in our life by forming all of our natural perceptions and reactive behaviors. Through awareness of the fact that we’re the one creating the reality of our memories, we dissolve them, and they no longer play out in an automatic fashion. We can be around the same person doing the same thing, and it no longer bothers us. We perceive it in a matter of fact way and no longer engage with them in co-creating that reality for ourselves.

As a general practice, if you do this process of self-reflection anytime you’re being triggered into a reaction of some kind, it’ll help you to become self-aware and resume conscious control of yourself and what it is you’re acting to create. You can begin healing yourself and taking back your power to create in a more aware and responsible manner. As you begin neutralizing your emotional reactions to others and the events of your life, you take back control of your own life. As you start remaining calm and clear headed in relation to others, you can begin developing skill in using your mind and imagination in a more deliberate and purposeful way. As you begin creating from a conscious and self-aware state, you take over the process of facilitating your own growth and development. You take back and begin utilizing your soul’s ability to create yourself from a fully awake and aware state and in whatever way you want and decide to.

Developing a Moral Code of Conduct as the Practical Application of Universal Law in Order to Regulate Yourself

  One of the most profound practices that have been largely abandoned in our modern era is the practice of developing a moral code of conduct as standards that we hold ourselves to as the means for governing ourselves through all kinds of situations. While many have been taught to adopt the moral values laid down for them by others as “rules for living their life” in order to be a “good person”, it’s actually something that we all do for ourselves based on how we want to be. This is because only we are truly responsible for how we live our life and who we become by way of our own actions. Only we can decide what’s right and wrong for us in terms of our perceptions and the behaviors that result from them, and how we act within our own life to create. As sovereign beings born with the ability to create ourselves, only we are responsible for whom we become as an individual.

       There’s currently a gross misconception being cultivated around all ideas of what it means to actually discriminate and use our ability to make accurate evaluations as somehow being prejudice, because these ideas are only being viewed from a negative context with a specific agenda in mind. One of the primary differences between what we call our lower and higher nature comes as our ability to think for ourselves and make our own decisions as to whom and how we’re going to be. This doesn’t come as making a decision as to what ideas formed by others we’re going to choose to accept as our own so we don’t have to figure stuff out for ourselves, but rather through our ability to reason, analyze, and evaluate ideas in order to see what their morality is in terms of the actions and outcomes they produce. The foundation used for creating our own moral values comes through our ability to both recognize and comprehend universal laws and apply them intelligently to our everyday life as the means of creating ourselves and determining the path our life takes.  

         Many people look to religion and the laws of society as the means of acquiring ready-made moral values, and we all acquire the moral values of our family through our formative conditioning as children. Many have been taught by religion that we’re not born moral beings, but rather born into a life of sin as our lower, animal nature of pure instinct. Where our greatest challenge is resisting our own impulses and being seduced into doing things we don’t really want to. Yet the idea of a moral code used to monitor your own behavior originated in a much more objective and intelligent form as guidelines that we created for ourselves through the recognition, understanding and conscious application of Universal Laws. Laws are what unify multiple dimensions of feelings, thoughts, emotions, and actions to produce a single reality in order to consciously create at the spiritual or energetic realm of pure consciousness. It’s a tool used for developing ourselves to a higher level of consciousness as the use of absolute truth inherent in the Laws and Principles themselves.

       If we look at the story of Moses and how he acquired the 10 Commandments, we’ll realize that he originally received the 10 primary universal laws that were engraved on sapphire tablets. But when he descended from the mountain to deliver the Universal Laws as a means of guiding the people, he saw that they we’re engaging in “pleasures of the flesh” and were not capable of receiving (comprehending or utilizing) the laws. This made him angry and broke the original tablets and went back up the mountain where he then translated the laws into commandments as “rules” engraved on ordinary stone that could be given and blindly followed by those who didn’t have the ability to understand higher laws and use them as the means of governing themselves. He then tried to lead them out of slavery (metaphor for ignorance) where they were being governed by others through the inability to comprehend higher knowledge, where they wandered aimlessly in the desert for 120 years, still unable to guide themselves.      

       What we think of as our spiritual nature is of a substantially higher level of consciousness that has the ability to create itself by way of the practical use and thorough understanding of higher laws of the mind, which are used to shape our morality. All spiritual development comes as moral development that’s produced through our ability to decide for ourselves what’s right and wrong, and based on our decision willfully direct our own actions as the means of creating ourselves. All universal laws provide us with the keys to operating our own mind-body system as the means of creating ourselves by way of our own hand. The higher soul is bestowed with the creative capacities necessary to govern and direct its own growth and development. Who we become is something that only we can determine through our own perceptions, decisions and actions.

       How we choose to live our life, what beliefs we buy into and how we conduct ourselves as a result, is constantly reforming us as a direct correspondence and determines “who” and “how” we become by way of our own actions. We’re not required to “believe” in higher knowledge in order for it to be true, because it’s always true in every situation in terms of how things operate, whether we’re aware of it or not. Our moral code is what we use to direct our behavior and use in order to remain fully conscious in situations that normally render us unconscious or tempt us in some way. Unconsciously we simply live out of whatever morality we we’re taught and trained to as children that comes more as feelings rather than a clear thought process. We engage in activities of various sorts without ever really questioning it in terms of “what type of person” we become due to our actions. Consciously, we form our moral code of conduct out of our understanding of Law that provides us with intuitive instructions for how to create ourselves at both the conscious and subconscious levels. We use the higher capacities of our mind to create ourselves from a fully conscious and self-aware state.

        As a higher soul bestowed with self-awareness, realization, the ability to choose for ourselves, and the will to actualize our choices, we are all fully responsible for our own conduct and who we become by way of our own actions. We can never rightfully blame someone else for our own misgivings and bad decisions, even when we were persuaded, seduced, or emotionally enticed in some way. Once we realize what universal law shows us in terms of how we act on ourselves to shape ourselves by producing the events of our life through our decisions as to what we cooperatively participate in and what we don’t, we’re provided with a powerful set of tools for shaping ourselves as a moral and intelligent being.

       The idea of stepping fully into our power as a sovereign being capable of guiding our own actions through intelligent decisions can become even more confusing through the misconception that after we die we’re going to be “judged” by some higher being and then eternally punished for all of the mistakes we made while unaware of what we were doing. Many people buy into this idea even though it defies reason and has no real purpose. The only being that’s going to judge us after we leave our lower nature (body consciousness) is our self (higher-self) on a higher plane that comes as more of a “life review” that allows us to see the results of what was in fact “cause and effect relationships”. We review our life in terms of the growth we incurred through active use of our higher capacities and the results we created while caught up in emotional illusions of some kind. Our life review brings awareness to the karma we created that sets the basis for the lessons to be learned in our next life. It shows us how we created ourselves out of fundamental errors in our thinking and being.

Primary Universal Laws of Creation

       To begin this journey into a fully conscious and self-aware state, we have to look at the most primary law of creation, often referred to as the “parent law” or the “sexual principle” that forms the very foundation for all life in the entire material world. This is the Law of the Dyad, also called the Vesica Pisces or “womb of the universe”. This is the point where all things come into being, and where all things of the spirit are transformed. Our spirit as our higher soul is eternal in nature and already exists in a self-created state that evolves itself based on whatever it enters into relationship with that’s of a similar nature. Naturally, when we’re talking about a higher plane and the aspect of ourselves that reside naturally on that plane, we’re referring to the mind and our energetic nature that’s void of a physical body, and is what incarnates into the body as the means of experiencing itself by how it expresses using the body. This is the aspect of ourselves that has no beginning or ending within the material world because it originates on a higher plane (dimension) that exists outside of time and space.

The Vesica Pisces birthing reality

          The Vesica Pisces is formed by the regeneration of the Monad that then separates from itself and projects outward in order to form a perception of itself as another. The Monad is represented by a sphere of energy as a field of information that’s polar (electromagnetic) in nature and both expands and contracts (principle of respiration) at the same time within the same space. It forms the experience of the self (within the body looking out) and the outer reality of the self, which are both produced simultaneously by the same mind and soul on different levels and scales. The same pattern (vibratory frequency) is used to create both (inner and outer) as a kind of metaphorical theme that’s sets the (outer) stage necessary to act out certain ideas allowing the opportunity to gain new realizations regarding who’s the one actually creating both. All reality as we’re capable of knowing it only comes through our perception of it. We perceive others and the entire outer world to be “like us” in nature because our mind is what’s creating it all as a projection of known and unknown aspects of ourselves.

        As multidimensional beings, once we enter into a body we have both a lower nature, which is unconscious and instinctively driven through emotional states, and a higher nature that’s intelligent and intuitively driven, and always utilized through various forms of self-control and our ability to regulate ourselves by harmonizing both of our natures as the means of self-creating. Energetically, we only resonate with what’s of a similar nature to us, and whatever we enter into and maintain a relationship with through shared qualities we become more like in terms of the qualities being actively expressed and how we’re being as a result. As we absorb the consciousness of another through the interaction that takes place, we blend with it and begin vibrating in harmony with them, conducting ourselves in a similar manner. They act to stimulate qualities in us that we then use to express and create through the activities that naturally ensue from them. Because this is all happening at the unconscious level, meaning naturally and automatically without our direct awareness, we don’t always realize what’s going on and how it is that we’re being transformed by the consciousness of another.

       As we participate in the same type of behavior, we produce experiences of our self that transform our identity to be more like that of the person influencing us. All actions produce a correlating reaction of the same nature. Through our conduct we draw specific and immediate consequences to ourselves through another fundamental Law of Cause and Effect. Like always acts to produce more of what’s like itself. Whatever we align ourselves with and become like in attitude and behavior, we use to shape ourselves by modifying our original vibration to form a new pattern as our mental paradigm (shaped out of experiences). Whenever we engage in the same activities of another, becoming more like them in nature, we simultaneously form a similar destiny. Whatever energy we take on as a perception that produces certain types of behavior, determines who we are and the path our life takes by how it serves to organize the events of our life as a dynamic, interrelated series of correspondences. The same act, undertaken for different reasons, still produces the same ripple effect as the consequences of our actions and what they mean about us.

       All of reality evolves out of the Parent Law of the Dyad as a new combination (relationship), and is what forms the Triad as its offspring. The Triad represents the reality of the new combination (inner and outer, self and another) formed within the mind and imagination that gives rise to the electromagnetic field as a vibratory frequency for forming an equivalent outer reality of the same nature. Our inner model forms our perceptual lens that we look through in order to perceive the outer world to be of the same nature as we are. All ideas formed in our imagination provide us with a preview of the reality they’ll create, and when played out as a whole experience or scenario, will give us insight into the reality they’ll produce as a series of consequences. Whatever we participate in creating through our actions create not only our outer reality and life situation, but also our inner reality and experience of our self. It’s not what we say that matters, but rather what we do. Our actions always reveal us as they serve to define us.

       Out of the Triad, birthed within the womb of the Dyad as a passionate conception, the Tetrad is formed as a “mirror image” or reflection of the Triad. Whatever we imagine with vivid sensory detail we create as a template for producing as an actual experience of reality. This is how we seed the subconscious with an idea that we want it to create as an outer reality of the same nature. On the spiritual plane of the mind and soul thought itself as an imagined experience of reality is the same as action on the lower, material plane. It’s how we produce something out of nothing. All ideas made into an internal reality within the mind are produced by the soul, and act to express the diverse matrix of ideas that make up the soul as a mental paradigm or vibratory frequency. This is why it’s not enough to simply refrain from taking action on ideas, but rather not forming them in the imagination to begin with, because we’re still actively creating ourselves spiritually by way of our own thoughts by becoming “one in spirit” with the idea. Any thought dwelled in passionately is being gestated and grown and will eventually be expressed outwardly through actions of some kind.

       The Law of Vibration shows us that all things that are of a similar nature vibrate in harmony with each other and are compatible in terms of co-creating. Whatever frequency we vibrate at, forms our internal nature as a specialized pattern or theme, and determines what we resonate with in the world around us. As we begin resonating with a similar frequency, we are drawn into it and it into us (sympathetic induction), where we mutually influence each other and form a new vibration as the combination of shared qualities. There’s no such thing as being influenced by someone who’s vastly different from us. When we’re stimulated by (form a natural reaction to) people and ideas that we perceive as being of a completely different nature than we are it’s because they’re appealing to unknown (denied and repressed) parts of us that we haven’t been able to successfully integrate and bring into expression in an appropriate and acceptable way.

       What we deny and repress, and eventually become unaware of having, still form a natural part of our outer environment and serves to mirror back to us our own hidden aspects. All denied and repressed (disowned) parts of us came by way of how we judged ourselves as being “bad or wrong” somehow, usually according to how we were taught to judge ourselves by others, and allow us to once again access those parts of ourselves and make new decisions as to how we’ll appropriately incorporate them into our natural behavior as the means of expanding our ability to self-express in new ways. All repressed parts of ourselves came by how we accepted the values and beliefs of others, rather than consciously deciding for ourselves. As we accept the morals of others as our own, we create ourselves by way of their decisions and perceptions, and shape ourselves to be like them. When we do this, we’re living out of our lower nature that lacks true self-awareness of the ability to think for ourselves and create ourselves based on our own conclusions, evaluations, and decisions about the morality of things.

       While most of us have been taught that certain actions and behaviors are always bad and should always be refrained from, the fact is that all behaviors are specialized in nature and appropriate within the right context. Our behavior is only inappropriate when used in the wrong way and for the wrong reason, or when it doesn’t produce the outcome we intended to produce in doing it. All actions create realities as consequences within the material plane and are undertaken for a specific reason. Whenever we react to someone else’s actions, we become the “effect” and create out of an unconscious state. Violence is considered good or bad based on the reason it’s being employed and situation it takes place in. If it’s initiated as the means of hurting someone or taking something from them that’s rightfully theirs, then it’s wrong, bad, and destructive. If it’s used to defend ourselves and our loved ones against the aggressive acts of another, then it’s appropriate, good, and the right thing to do.

Making up Your Own Rules for Creating Yourself

       As higher, sovereign and creative souls, we have the natural capacities of our higher mind to create ourselves in a willful and deliberate manner. By understanding the universal laws that govern the higher and lower planes simultaneously through natural processes, we can gain the means for developing our own moral code of conduct. We can design our own system of values that we use to regulate ourselves from a fully conscious perspective. We can become clear on what our standards are that we use to evaluate our relationships in terms of what we want to blend with and become like in nature. We can decide from a clear state of mind, unclouded by emotions and conditioned issues, what qualities and characteristics we want to embody and use to create ourselves and our experiences. We can realize that in every moment we’re making all our decisions by asking ourselves one primary question, “who am I?” How am I going to be in this moment and in relationship to this idea?

       Our moral values involve “qualities” as states of mind that we embody as a “way of being” and use as the means for self-expressing. They involve ideas like honesty, loyalty, integrity, compassion, kindness, generosity, courage, respect, devotion, justice, honor, and so on. Developing a moral code comes by thoroughly thinking about what you know to be right and wrong as your own conscience, and setting guidelines for yourself as standards that you don’t violate under any circumstances. They’re the rules you make up for yourself that prescribe to righteous behavior. They define the type of person you’re creating yourself to be and provide you with the means to do it. They’re what you use in situations where you’re being emotionally triggered into unconscious behaviors, or are being tempted in some way by something you know you don’t really want to do because of who you’ll become by doing it. They provide you with moral guidelines as standards for yourself that you use in making all your decisions as to what you’re going to participate in by becoming it. A moral code provides you with the means for regulating yourself and consistently evolving yourself to a higher level of understanding.

How to Create Moral Values as the means of Directing your Lower Nature

        What we refer to as our lower nature is our body consciousness as our subconscious mind. All perception and natural behaviors are produced by the subconscious, which is also the same mind as the collective unconscious that governs the entire material world of Nature. The subconscious acts as a passive receptor for the suggestions and commands of the higher, conscious mind, which acts to seed it with the reality it wants to use as the means of creating itself. The subconscious doesn’t know the difference between an actual reality and an imagined one, because they’re both actually created in the same way through the faculty of the imagination as described in the Law of the Dyad.

       Our subconscious doesn’t have the ability to make decisions as the means of directing itself, and when not being willfully directed by the conscious mind, creates out of memory, instinct, and illusions formed through emotional states. It doesn’t know how to process a “negative”, or being told what “not to do”, and works to create whatever “picture it’s given” as the reality it’s being directed to create. For this reason all guidelines have to be stated in the positive as what “to do” and how to be, and not in terms of what not to do. As you’re forming an image in your mind of what you don’t want, it simply sees the image as a directive and acts to create it in an automatic fashion without a conscience. It’s only the conscious, self-aware mind that has the ability to decide what it wants to create and how wants to be outside of the conditioned and instinctual nature of the body.

       For this reason, all ideas given to it as an internal representation for creating, have to be formed as “what to do”, what quality to employ in place of automatic behaviors, and how it wants to be as an experience of itself. We shape our identity by how we exist in relationship to everything else. The relationship we form not only exchanges energy and ideas with another, but also gives us a sense of ourselves as a particular type of person. As we act either consciously or unconsciously to create our experiences, we simultaneously create ourselves by way of how we associate and identify with them. Whatever quality we’re embodying as a means of expressing and experiencing ourselves, determine who we become as a soul and what type of experiences we act to naturally create more of.

Understanding the Nature of Relationship and our ability to Discriminate

       Naturally, the type of person we become through our own conscious acts also determines the nature of our relationships and what we act (decide) to attract, repel, and transform. If we decide, for example, that we’re going to be a loyal person, it doesn’t mean that we stay loyal to those who aren’t loyal themselves, or remain loyal to those who turn their back on us during difficult moments, or outright betray us somehow, but rather maintain the ability to discern the difference, and end our relationship with them when we realize they don’t warrant our loyalty. When we realize that they are of a poor character, or have different values than we do, we also realize that our continued relationship with them will only stimulate and bring out in us the same type of attitudes and behaviors, creating more experiences of disloyalty. If you’re truly a loyal person, then you won’t willingly maintain a relationship with a disloyal person. If however, you’re creating an illusion of yourself as being loyal by contrasting and being hurt by a disloyal person, you’ll maintain the relationship in order to continue acting out the drama involved, which is what you’re really using to create yourself.  

        If honesty is a moral value for us, and we’re in relationship with someone who is dishonest and has values that justify lying, then we don’t argue to try and change them or make them see their faults (according to us), but simply acknowledge their tendency to be this way, and end our relationship with them as a result. Like always produces and acts to create more of what’s like itself. Whatever morals we set for ourselves, sets standards and guidelines for what type of relationships we naturally form and maintain with a sense of awareness. If we value honesty, yet tolerate lying, and are willing to stay in relationship with a dishonest person, then our value as a standard for ourselves becomes dishonesty. Whatever we tolerate and allow through the relationships that we maintain in a consistent fashion sets the standards as a type of experience and moral character that we use to create ourselves to be of a similar nature.

       If we realize we’re doing this without direct awareness of what we’re doing and why, then it provides the mirror for us to look at parts of ourselves that are operating in us unconsciously. It shows us where there’s conflict between the unknown and chosen parts of us. It shows us how we’re working against our self in being able to make conscious decisions for how we’re going to be and what kind of person we are. If we choose honesty as a moral value that we use to direct all of our own behavior, that means that even in the moments when we find ourselves tempted to lie for whatever reason, we make our self be honest instead. We use it to discipline ourselves and hold ourselves to our code of honor as an honest person. We use it as the means for guiding ourselves in moments when we’re triggered into an unconscious state as an emotional reaction or where we feel tempted because of the nature of the situation at hand that ultimately results in being dishonest.

         Even in the event that we find ourselves being dishonest for some reason, we can self-reflect on what caused it, and make the necessary corrections to our own actions. If you can justify your right to be dishonest (telling a white lie so you don’t hurt someone’s feelings) and therefore give yourself exceptions to your own rule, then it’s not an actual “moral value” or true standard. In this case you can either use it to correct your own perspective and perception of the situation or you can eliminate it as a moral value. This doesn’t make you wrong or a bad person for being dishonest, it’s simply how you’re choosing to conduct yourself as a certain type of person, and reveals your willingness to create an illusion in place of what you know to be true. As you make a decision to allow yourself to be dishonest, you’ll naturally attract people who are also dishonest (where it’ll be accepted as part of the relationship) and co-create situations that are based on lying. Either way, it’s how you’re using your own will to create yourself as the type of person who participates in creating whatever reality results from it.

The Unified Nature of Things

       Likewise, when we set a standard for ourselves as being honest, especially to ourselves, we use that anytime we find ourselves in a situation where we’re being tempted to lie, and force ourselves instead to be honest. All values exist as a “system of values” (rather than independent of each other) that all play off of and are interdependent with each other. One produces and acts as complementary to the others. In being honest we demonstrate integrity, which is honorable, warrants respect, and makes us trustworthy. Likewise all people who are honest and therefore have integrity also command our respect and we come to trust them. If we’re willing to lie in the right situation, then we lack integrity, are not trustworthy, and are seldom respected by others once they realize we’re lying. So our moral values and standards, like our beliefs, exist in a unified state as a dynamic system. One value produces, validates, and maintains all of the other ones through the relationship they form with each other. Just as our beliefs are formed out of a whole system of interrelated beliefs that together form all of our perceptions and how we interpret the events of our life to give them meaning.

       Whatever values we hold and the standards we set for ourselves as the means of governing our own conduct through our higher nature, becomes the most prominent means of creating our self from a fully conscious state. It’s how we step outside of our conditioning where we were created by others while in a predominantly unconscious state, and act on ourselves to transform ourselves to a higher idea. All spiritual development comes through our moral development and our ability to be self-determined through our own choices and actions. It comes through our ability to form correct perceptions of ourselves by the mirror others provide, and make actual decisions about how we’re going to be in relationship with everything else. It comes through realizing who we are and how we’re being in the most ordinary sense. We’re able to let go of the illusions we were conditioned with through our upbringing, and step into the realm of self-awareness where we realize we can direct our own mind and actions in a deliberate and precise manner by using our will to discipline ourselves in acting out our decisions. When we wake-up in the midst of the reality created from an unconscious state and begin seeing things in a new light, we become clear on the fact that in every moment we’re making the decisions as to who we’re going to be, and begin consistently imposing a direction on our life as the one who’s consciously creating our own destiny.

Understanding the Nature of Emotions and how we Create Reality out of Unconscious States

  We can gain a clear understanding of the nature of emotions and how they work in our life to control us by simply observing what happens when we experience an emotion and have a reaction as a result. Emotions are the natural forces of the material world that are designed to produce automatic behaviors that don’t require thought or a decision. They are what operate the “instinctual field” that governs all living beings of the natural world that don’t possess the higher mental capacities of self-realization, thought, discrimination, and will that are necessary to self-create. Emotions themselves are invisible forces that are constantly being generated, transmitted, and received within the atmosphere of the material plane, also referred to as the astral plane. Emotions are always associated to memory of some kind and are an animating force that works through the etheric body of the astral plane to stimulate the subtle organs (chakras), which then stimulate the Endocrine glands of the physical body, producing a whole series of chemical messengers that change the energetic state of the whole body to match the emotion. We can think of emotions as being the language of the subconscious mind which forms the unified field of the material world, and is what unites and serves to orchestrate the instinctual behaviors of both the animal and plant kingdoms, of which we as humans are a natural part. Emotions are always associated to memories, which are what produces the patterns for automatic behaviors in animals that all reside in and live out of a primarily unconscious state that lacks self-awareness and the ability to create in a unique fashion. The memory used by the animal kingdom is universal in nature, and used by all members of the same species to produce the shared behaviors of that species, whereas humans have the creative ability to produce their own memories as a personalized version of the universal memory that governs all of humanity.

The Relationship between Thought, Memory and Emotion Only humans have to ability to “think” as a way of producing the imaginary reality of our thoughts as internal representations that form personalized memory of various forms that’s used as a “thematic template” for creating a corresponding outer reality as an illusion that simultaneously produces all of our natural behaviors. All of what we call “intelligence” exists as organized fields of information that form patterns of reality as memory. A memory is produced as an interpretation of an event that gives it meaning as the expression of the emotion being experienced during the event. The meaning we give something forms a kind of theme that can be applied to any number of situations as the perceptual lens and filtering system that provides us with an instantaneous means of interpreting events to all mean the same thing. The meaning something has as a feeling it gives us forms the basis for the story we tell ourselves about it that creates how we experience it. We don’t ever form memories as the recollection of factual details of the event itself (unless we set out with the specific aim of doing so), but rather by forming a story as a “type of experience” based on the emotion we were experiencing at the time. Self-made memory as a unique account of an event is always formed out of an emotional state, and is only “accessible” and able to be recollected from that same emotional state. The memories we naturally reference and use to form our thoughts and perceptions are directly correlated and a by-product of the emotional state we were in at the time we formed them. We act as an energetic tuner and receiver for thoughts and memories that are correlated with and produce the realities of our emotional state. If we’re in a positive and uplifted state, we access and use memories formed out of that same state as our perceptual lens for creating more memories of that same kind. If we’re sad and depressed, we dwell in past experiences that were sad and depressing, and think about things that give us more of that same feeling. Our “emotional state” becomes our perceptual lens for perceiving the present to be of the same nature as the past. All states of mind are self-perpetuating and act to multiply and produce more of the same states through the experiences they serve to propagate.

The Collective Unconscious of Humanity What we call the material world is produced and governed by a unified field of the subconscious mind as the collective unconscious of humanity as it pertains to our mammalian body and personal existence. The entire natural world of the plant and animal kingdom is unconscious in nature, and is operated by emotional impulses that produce natural (automatic) behaviors. The subconscious mind, which is the aspect of the mind that connects all of us, is emotionally driven and functions out of universal memory that’s tuned into the state of mind and consciousness of the individual, downloading it with certain types of information as collective memory. As humans we experience this as random thoughts that come to us seemingly out of nowhere, but that are so similar to our normal thoughts that we mistake them for being our own. Different species and types of animals tune into the memory within the collective unconscious that provide it with self-knowledge and instructions for living as its natural instinct. They don’t have to be taught or accept the belief of someone else, or have the ability to create personal beliefs in place of actual knowledge, but instinctually know what to do in order to live and survive from birth. Animals don’t have a self-conscious mind and the ability to create in an individual manner apart from their species and kind, and all form the same behaviors that only differ in the sense of the personality they possess in how they perform them. All dogs, for example, act like a dog, though they have their own unique personality that makes them distinguishable from other dogs in “how” they do the same behaviors. Instinct comes as universal memory that provides the intelligence and animating life force for creating, orchestrating, and maintaining an incredibly diverse Eco-system in an automated fashion that all live and function in harmony with each other. Emotional charges as impulses and passions are what serve to activate the memory necessary to produce automatic, natural behaviors, that don’t require and form of realization, calculated decision, thought-process, or will to carry out. All behaviors of the animal kingdom are produced and driven by natural impulses as emotional charges that are being transmitted from one being to another and throughout the atmosphere as a form of telepathy. What Distinguishes Humans from Animals What separates us from the animals is that we have the ability to create our own memories in our imagination by how we emotionally interpret the events of our life to give them meaning. We take a universal idea as a theme and use it to produce a unique version as a personal reality that forms our soul’s memory and makes us unique and different from everyone else. While our thoughts, which are associated to individually created memories, are somewhat unique and different from others based on how we interpreted the events of our life to create them, the emotions we share in common are universal in nature and experienced pretty much the same way by everyone. Emotions weren’t originally designed to be “brought into our thinking” as the means of creating illusions as personal realities that form our memory base, but merely as a form of instinct that aids us in our ability to live and survive within the instinctual world by giving us automatic behaviors as instant reactions. The other unique ability we have as humans that sets us apart from the animal kingdom is we have the ability to generate and produce our own emotional state based on what we focus on and think about. Emotion typically comes in two ways, one as a transmission from one person or being to another where it’s absorbed and taken on, and as a response to our own thoughts. Whatever we focus on and think about automatically produces our emotional state as a correspondence. Thought and emotion are always connected, and one serves to form and determine the other. Likewise, whatever memories we dwell in produces in us the same emotional states we were in when forming the memories. We have the ability to “choose what we focus on” and direct our own thoughts to intentionally keep ourselves tuned to certain emotional states. Whereas animals are purely impulse driven based on the present events of their life and what behaviors are the most beneficial and appropriate. Instinct as universal knowledge on the higher plane of consciousness comes to us in the material plane as intuition. When we intuitively sense something through a feeling about it, we perceive its inner nature and character as a form of “knowing” that comes without a cognitive thought process. We know the true nature of someone or something without knowing why or how we know. It comes in an instantaneous and automatic fashion as a realization that forms a mental impression in our imagination, similar to how we play out a memory as the means of creating an experience, except it’s not of a personal nature and not generated or formed by us. The entire material world of “formed beings” as a dynamic ecosystem is formed out of and animated by various forms of universal memory.

Energy as Emotion and Patterns for Automatic Processes Memory, whether universal in nature as an archetype, instinctual as the basis for life, or personal as our own creative ability to produce personal versions of reality, comes as an organized field of information that’s stabilized into a fixed pattern. While we commonly hear that all “things” vibrate at a certain rate, meaning energy as a material object or being exists within a certain level and quality of consciousness, the fact is all material objects are formed out of memory as an electromagnetic field that’s contained in DNA, the subconscious mind, and the soul, all of which form union and combine with each other based on shared memory. This unification of shared memory is what acts to form a unified field as a pattern that produces a vibratory frequency. All material form is a mental construct formed out of memory that vibrates at a certain frequency. The mind itself exists in a potential, unformed state, and is the medium that uses a universal archetype as a thematic idea for shaping matter into a pattern that then generates and emanates an electromagnetic field as a frequency. We know that a frequency contains a pattern and a self-organizing mechanism that serves to organize information into a formula or configuration as a living being, while often failing to realize that it’s the mind that produces the frequency by how it forms an “internal representation as the etheric double” that acts as a spatial map for organizing and structuring matter. As we form an internal reality as a thought-form, we magnetize it by drawing in the equivalent emotion, which acts to produce the activity as a vibratory frequency that transforms it into an actual outer reality of the same nature. All reality is formed by our “perception of it”, which comes by way of a filtering system that reorganizes the information available into a pattern that matches our memory, making it appear different to us.

       Through our ability to construct material forms in our imagination, we produce a form of virtual memory that gives the subconscious mind the pattern necessary for organizing the outer into a similar idea. The imaginary reality we form as an internal representation, whether out of an actual memory or universal one that’s not based on an actual experience, is a form of “request” for an equivalent outer experience. As we feel, think, and imagine the reality of our thoughts, we tune ourselves to the emotional state of that reality and it acts as a receiver and generator for more of the same type of realities. Whatever we think about in a consistent and emotionally intense way forms our perceptual lens that we look through and use to form our experiences by how we interpret the information that’s available in any situation to form our perception of it. This process also works in reverse, and anytime we absorb and “take on” an emotion that’s being projected and transmitted through the atmosphere by another, it acts to adjust our emotional state to be equivalent to it. Once our emotional state is tuned to the same frequency, it determines how we act, what type of memories we use to form our interpretations, and what type of things we think about. We form a “coherent state” and act to co-create a joint reality out of the same state. As we express an emotion by coupling it with a memory as a correlating idea, it produces an instant experience that amplifies and gives us more of that same emotion. In this way, our state of mind and the reality it perceives and creates becomes self-perpetuating and forms a kind of closed system. As we take on the emotions being projected by others, and that exist naturally in the space around us, we “adjust” chemically to become of the same nature and state as our environment. This is the most basic form of evolution that serves to constantly form us to be of the same nature instinctually as the environment we live and survive in.

The Language of the Subconscious Emotions are the energetic language of the material plane that acts as a mechanism for organizing information as memory into corresponding realities. Emotion and thought act together to produce internal realities that provide the perceptual filter and lens for producing an equivalent outer reality as our experience of it. Whatever outer reality we have to work out of, we act to reorganize the information available in it by only noticing and bringing out what matches it and can be used to produce our desired experience, while simultaneously ignoring and leaving out what doesn’t. We’re always taking what exists as an objective and neutral reality that’s a part from us, and restructuring it to produce a subjective reality that’s an inherent part of us as our creation. We never really perceive things as they actually are, but rather as “we are” by how we reform them out of our memories and mental paradigm. We’re always remaking others in our own image according to our own beliefs, preferences, and judgments about them. Every single person that’s a part of the same event will form a different experience of it and tell a different story about it. This is because as humans we’re bestowed with the higher capacities of the mind and “create reality” out of our perception of it through a dynamic filtering system that operates by the principle of “natural selection”. When we’re governed by our emotions and exist in a constant reactive state, we live out of a primarily unconscious state as a subverted form of instinct. We engage in a constant form of automated processes that run redundant behavioral patterns over and over as a means of creating ourselves.

Summary Once we understand the principle at work in emotions we can realize that anyone who lives out of a state of constant emotional reactions is always creating the present to be the same as the past. They’re constantly bringing the memories of the past into the present as the means of interpreting and perceiving the present events to mean the same thing and tell the same type of story about them. When we live out of the illusions created by our emotional reactions, we’re living and creating our life out of an unconscious state without any direct awareness of what we’re doing and why. We create illusions based on applying past memories to the present as a way of shaping them into the same type of story and experiencing them in the same way. Through awareness of how we act to create our own experiences, we can begin neutralizing the emotions of others being outwardly expressed and projected towards us, and can perceive things from a calm and relaxed state instead. As we live out of constant emotional states we form our experiences of reality out of our beliefs and judgments about them rather than perceiving them in a neutral and unbiased way as they actually are. We take on our animalistic tendencies and create in an automatic and instinctual way by simply forming the same type of perceptions and behaviors over and over without realizing that we have to ability to change them and create in a more purposeful manner by choosing the meaning we give things and using our will to produce new types of experiences by learning how to tell a different type of story. As we begin recognizing our own emotionally driven tendencies we steadily empower ourselves to be able to think and create in new and more diverse ways. Energetic Imprinting, Conditioning, and Dynamics – Liberating your Soul from the Unconscious Tendencies that Bind You

Our soul is comprised of essence as memory that comes from the relationship it forms with the body, which resides in a predominately unconscious state, and how they work together to create experiences of reality. The subconscious mind of the body also runs off of memory which it uses to form repetitive and habitual patterns that produce a consistent and congruent version of reality. What we call “reality” is produced as both an inner imagining and the outer complementary correspondence of what’s imagined internally. The subconscious is passive and receptive in nature, meaning it has no will or ability to discriminate and make decisions of its own based on reasoning, and simply takes in ideas from the active, willful mind as suggestions that it forms into thoughts as a sensory reality in the faculty of the imagination, which is where all reality as an outer projection is born and fabricated out of essence (astral light or photons).

The soul bonds to the body through the memory inherent in its DNA, which is of a similar and compatible nature, capable of providing the soul with the corresponding reality of its memories so it can continue fashioning itself by way of the experiences the reality provides. The memory, as the essence of the soul resonates with the ancestral memory of the body, and enters into it as an active force that animates and structures it, giving it life as the ideal home or material vehicle for the soul. All levels of consciousness exist on a hierarchical plane, where the lower is always subordinate (passive) to the higher one (active), and provides the form or shell for the higher force to inhabit, bringing it into an active state of expression and creation within the material realm. This hierarchy of consciousness exists as spherical fields nested within greater and smaller fields, all of which vibrate within the same frequency as a range of vibration and lend themselves to the creation of the same nature and level of reality.

This level of consciousness that acts to naturally produce and actively play a role in a common (shared) reality forms a whole or singular dimension that’s structured by a dynamic interweaving of an infinite number of vibrations, all with a common core of information that act as their building blocks. All reality in this sense exists within an even greater reality as a unified dimension, where unique formulas of common elements are shaped by the individual mind to form an original version as a variation. The archetypal world of pure consciousness exists as archetypes in their potential state as what we might call generic templates. Archetypes manifest by undergoing a process of adaptation and reformulation that modify and reshape them into a new form that’s still indigenous to the greater, shared reality in which they’re birthed, maintained, and used to express at the individual level of self-creation.

As the soul resonates and bonds with the body, forming coherence as a harmonious vibration that creates in a spontaneous manner, it acts first to reform and establish the psychological patterns of its memory as a predisposition, temperament, general attitude, and tendencies that make up its personality, then those same patterns as dynamics are played out through its conditioning, because the memories of the parents are of the same nature and dynamics of the soul, as a form of “group memory” (soul groups). As these dynamics continue to play out and we have a role in them, we’re further trained and conditioned to those dynamics as behavioral patterns that have a theme as a story-line inherent in them. In an attempt to make sense of the events of our life and the dynamics that we’re a part of, we begin telling ourselves a story about them. This story makes them mean something, and it’s the meaning as a story-line that we become imprinted with as a dominate and habitual tendency. This means we readily perceive it and participate in it in an unconscious manner without any direct awareness or realization of what we’re doing and why. We don’t realize that all of our experiences are subjective in nature, meaning we’re the ones that are creating them by how we interpret events of our life to give them meaning, and so we imagine that life is happening “to us” in an objective manner and we have no control or say so about it. Yet, though we can’t control the events of our life (necessarily) we absolutely have full control over how we choose to experience them.

What we call reality comes as a cohesive series of events that take place outside of and around us, and how we “experience” those events, while they may seem like two separate ideas, are in fact correlated correspondences of each other. The outer, objective, abstract, and neutral reality that’s common to all of us as a form of shared or mass consciousness provides the stage and the means for organizing it in such a way that we experience it in a consistent manner through the story we’re always in the process of telling ourselves about it. This story as an interpretation makes it into a personalized version of reality as our own creation that we’re then subject to (it determines us). We reshape the outer reality based on personal feelings, tastes, and beliefs. We view it through the paradigm of our mind (soul memory) and we reformulate it through our emotional state to match it. We reshape it to be of the same nature as we are where it lends itself in a complementary manner to naturally tell our story about it. As we create our experiences of things, we simultaneously get a sense of ourselves through those experiences, identifying with our own creation, and shaping ourselves through the memory it provides that becomes a part of both the subconscious mind of the body and our soul’s essence. We’re constantly forming and in-forming ourselves through the experience of our own creation, by taking what exists as a “universal idea” and using it as a thematic template for creating a “personal version”.

Our formative conditioning patterns are established through the “theme” as a life dynamic that’s being played out all around us that we play a role in and are an inherent part of. While we play a certain role in a greater dynamic as a child, we are in fact “imprinted” (unconsciously programmed) with the “whole dynamic” and every role that’s required in order to act it out. Whatever role we’re not actively playing in the dynamic is being demonstrated for us by others, and we actively engage in it through our relationship with the greater whole and our constant interaction and participation in it. These dynamics are created in several areas of our life at the same time, based on the same general theme being played out in different ways through different types of relationships. How we’re treated as a child in the situation, is of the “same nature” (behavioral dynamic) as how our parents treat each other, our siblings, relatives, and all other relationships they maintain and participate in, where only the roles change.

The relationship between our parents (or guardians) that’s being openly demonstrated and modeled for us in the normal sense, becomes the same “relationship dynamic” we play out in some form or another in our adult romantic relationships. As a general rule, we typically become one of our parents and marry the other one. Whichever parent we identify with most and align with in terms of playing the same role, we play most often, yet we unconsciously play all roles in the dynamic as a general theme. For example, if one parent is always criticizing the other one, putting them down and sarcastically belittling them somehow, and the one being criticized responds with a particular behavior (lashing out, retaliating, equally belittling, being hurt, crying, outraged, angry, or running away, etc.), that same parent will have a tendency to treat the children the same way as a general rule, and they’ll respond in a like manner to how the other parent responded (according to what’s being modeled for them to imitate). Whatever we witness going on around us is being modeled for us, and as children we tend to learn by imitating what ever is being demonstrated for us as a relationship and means of “appropriately” responding. The same “pattern” as an overall theme is being played out in a variety of ways with every relationship within the family, based on the theme both parents share in common and the behavioral dynamic that naturally issues forth from it.

If we’re used to being criticized as children, we’re attracted to (naturally respond) and seek out relationships of various kinds where that same dynamic is shared and can be played out faithfully in a natural and automatic fashion. We initiate and provoke the pattern, regardless of what role we play just through the nature of our interaction. For this reason, because it’s unconscious, we often have no idea we’re doing it, and so we imagine we’re innocent and once again it’s being done to us, instead of realizing that we’re the perpetrator. If we’re used to being criticized, we have a tendency to also criticize others (though we may view it different), and naturally produce the behavior that warrants criticism. We can do this intentionally through a reaction to being criticized ourselves, or as a way of retaliating and getting even by switching roles. Even when we respond by turning inward, crying and becoming meek, we’re lashing out in our thoughts and criticizing or despising them to the same degree or more that we feel criticized. Yet often, when we’re doing the criticizing, we don’t see it that way, but rather as just giving them back their own medicine or giving them “constructive feedback”. We feel justified to respond in a like manner, usually without gaining any recognition whatsoever of the overall pattern that’s being played out at the unconscious level.

When something exists in us at the unconscious level, which all of our automatic, habitual behaviors do, they serve to form the very basis of our perception, our emotional states, and what memories we use to interpret things to give them meaning through the story we tell ourselves about it that describes, explains, or justifies it, forming how we experience it. Because they’re a normal and cohesive part of our perception and way of experiencing reality, we believe they’re real in the objective sense and we have no ability to change them, because we don’t realize that we’re actively participating in creating them. We don’t know how to see something different because we’ve perceived things that way our whole life and it comes natural to us. The experience is spontaneous and comes in a natural and automatic fashion without any awareness of choice or will involved.

So the first challenge is to be able to become aware of our own tendencies by recognizing the behavioral dynamics as a theme that we’re playing a natural part in that’s of the same dynamic that we grew up with. This can often come with us realizing we’re having a tendency to say the same thing and act in the same manner as our parents did. By developing our ability to self-reflect and focus on our own feelings and motivation, instead of always focusing on the other person, while recognizing what memories are being triggered through association that are of the same nature, we can begin realizing what exists in us as a tendency that we’re either unaware of, or only partially aware of. We have a natural tendency to always focus on the “other person” by thinking almost exclusively about how they’re being and what they’re doing “to us”, then our whole approach becomes how to “change them” so they’ll stop doing it. Yet even if they were to stop doing it, we would act out in an unconscious fashion to provoke it in them as a way of keeping the pattern going because we don’t know how to play a part in another type of relationship.

This is because we’re not only conditioned with one role or position in a pattern or idea, but with the “whole pattern” and behavioral dynamic of which we can play every role, whether through an aware state or an unaware one, because every role in that dynamic was constantly being modeled for us, and we were either the one doing it or watching it be done. Whatever role we identified most strongly with we continue playing out with awareness, and whichever one we didn’t, we continue playing out unconsciously. Because we build our identity out of the experiences this dynamic provides, we not only keep it going in an automatic fashion, but when we get into situations where it’s not being cooperatively played out, we don’t know how to act or what to do, and so we unconsciously initiate it and provoke the proper reaction in others that sets it into motion. Once it’s set into motion and begins playing out, we’re in our element, and we have an automatic “script” where we know exactly how to be, what to say, and what to do.

When we live our life out of perceptions of our conditioning, we live from a primarily unconscious state that simply acts to repeat patterns as themes (karma) in every area of our life, over and over. This habitual state of mind forms the “life dynamic” that produces the experiences that become our soul’s memory as our essence, character, and constitution. Our soul is developed through accumulated memory attained through the body and how it identifies with it. The more of a certain type of memory we accumulate, the stronger and more stable the pattern becomes, trapping the soul in an unconscious level where it often fails to realize it has the ability to become consciously aware of unconscious tendencies, and through that awareness, dissolve the pattern, freeing itself to create in new ways by making new decisions that produce brand new experiences.

The soul not only possesses the higher capacity of consciousness necessary for self-creating, but it also exists in polarity to higher planes of consciousness, where it acts as a medium between the upper and lower regions, and serves as the passive aspect of the active higher will, which is capable of impregnating it just as it’s capable of impregnating the imagination of the subconscious mind with an idea that it turns into a material reality. Habitual patterns only continue to play out when we’re unaware of them. By utilizing the witnessing capacity of the soul to realize the unconscious patterns being played out, they no longer take place in an automatic fashion, because our very perception changes through the awareness, and if we begin engaging in the same tendencies, we catch ourselves and realize what we’re doing and why. We can learn how to realize our own part in things by dissociating from our experiences (not “in them” having them from an internal perspective) and viewing them instead from a detached and objective state. When we view our life from a second or third person perspective, we view the events from a distance (as another person would) and see ourselves not as the main character in our movie, but simply as one character in a greater story, and we can see ourselves in a different light as simply playing a role in acting out a common story.

Once we become aware and fully conscious in our life, no longer reactive and bound to habitual mindsets, we’re free of them and have the ability to make conscious decisions instead. Through our ability to choose who and how we’re going to be, what qualities we’re going to take on and express through, we begin creating ourselves in a more novel and unique manner. In this way we break free of the karma as unconscious states that dominate and bind us to a mindless process of creation, and we become fully empowered in our own life. The minute we decide to stop doing one thing as a natural response and role, we have to decide how we’re going to be and what we’re going to do instead. All habits are dissolved and transformed through awareness, choice, and replacing them with new patterns that create in a more intentional manner through a fully awake state.

In order to understand this idea, we have to look at the nature of a reaction, and what’s actually happening when we react, as well as what it means to “heal” in the sense that it’s being used here. Someone who acts to stimulate you into a reactive state because of how they’re being, what they’re doing or saying, or how they’re treating you, shows you areas about yourself, that you still remain unaware of,  either through denial, repression, or conditioning of some sort. Anytime we begin reacting, we switch into a form of auto-pilot, and literally go unconscious to what’s happening and what it is we’re actually doing. We’re being “controlled” by the person or idea that’s eliciting an immediate reaction in us. Because of this instant, automated factor, we not only create out of an unconscious state, but we do so by repeating patterns born out of memory of the past, which is what gives us the pattern necessary to act out in an automated fashion, requiring no awareness or thought process on our part as to what we doing and why, let alone realizing the consequences we draw to ourselves while in the illusory state.

Reactions come through associations of some sort that instantly references a memory where the same type of idea was being played out (which is the triggering mechanism), where we pull it out, superimpose it over the current situation using it to perceive it through, making it about the same idea, and act the same way we did in the memory, by making what’s happening in the present mean the same thing as the past. Our mind registers that “this” is the same as “that”. Because we make it mean the same thing, and therefore react in the same way, we can be triggered into a blind reaction by a behavior, tone of voice, a feeling, an attitude, an emotional state being demonstrated around us, the words being used, or through an idea being played out that we have strong emotional ties to that form what we call our “issues”.

Reactions can be both of a good nature, stimulating positive emotions that bring about pleasurable experiences, or of a bad nature that stimulate negative emotions that are painful and violent, and ultimately destructive in nature. But no matter the nature of the experience it causes, it comes as being controlled by whomever or whatever is causing the reaction, and going unconscious in our own life and acting in a way that creates our experience, shapes us by way of our own self-created experiences, and renders a like reaction to our actions as a chain reaction, where what we do in a reactive state becomes the cause for producing an equal or greater reaction in others, which becomes self-perpetuating and gains momentum through escalation. This is the most basic form of repeating the past in the present, or being a product of our conditioning and what we call karma, and the basis for all “sin” as creating while in an unconscious state and unaware of what we’re doing, and therefore creating in error.

The opportunity being offered anytime we’re feeling stimulated inside to instantly react to something outside of us in a pronounced and intense manner, is it allows us to see what idea as a conditioned memory is still alive in us, able to be activated and repeated in the present, causing more of the same ideas and situations as in the past. In shows in what ways we are controllable by outside forces, and how we keep repeating the past in the present as a means of determining our future. It allows us to see what our karma is as unconscious tendencies that we repeat over and over without any actual realization of what we’re doing. It allows us to see things about ourselves that we don’t normally see or recognize, because we’re covering them up or justifying them (as being real) through the story that we keep telling ourselves about them that make them seem real and true, and therefore justify our right to feel the way we do and “keep” them.

By realizing this ability to show us aspects of ourselves that we remain unaware of, where we build an illusion around it through the story we tell about it that makes it appear different than it really is, we fail to own it or be able to regulate it through awareness and willful action. If we completely remove all attention from the outside source causing the reaction, and instead place all of our attention on what’s happening inside of us that has nothing to do with what’s happening outside of us, we can see a process that takes place, instantly forming a “version of reality” that we systematically superimpose over the present situation as a means of instant interpretation that has a whole, preprogrammed pattern of behavior inherent in it as what we did before when the same thing happened to us. If we refrain from actually reacting while still letting the process that’s going on internally continue while observing it, we can notice what memory we associate to it, reference in relation to it, and use as an automated program for repeating a past idea by acting it out. We can notice what begins running through our mind as a story we start telling ourselves “about” what’s happening and what it means about us, other people, and the way the world is in general. Through reactive behaviors we repeat the patterns of the past in the present and they set the basis for our creating more of the same idea in our future. If we turn all our attention inwardly while allowing the reactive state to continue playing out in us, we’ll get a very clear idea on what areas in our life still remain unresolved and alive inside of us, that we’re continuing to create out of.

Through awareness alone, we can see our own internal process for how “we create” the reactive state as a means of cooperating with the same quality of consciousness in the present that we did in the past. We can witness what we’re doing to create our reactive state. Nobody ever “makes us” do anything, they just provide the stimulus for us to do it to ourselves. We create the inner state which produces the outer behavior as what we call a reaction that’s compulsive in nature. Nobody ever really controls us, we simply fail to be able to control ourselves, and in doing so, allow ourselves to be controlled by others. Because we imagine that something’s being done “to us” by another, we claim no responsibility for our own actions, and instead blame it on the person causing it. Blame itself is an illusion, because our internal state is always being conducted by us, and whatever is being done to us, is being done by us through a lack of self-awareness as to who’s doing the doing. So by becoming aware of what memories we have associated to reactive tendencies, and how our memories of the past continue to define us by shaping our experiences in the present, we can neutralize the “triggering mechanism” as an emotional charge, and in doing so, consciously decide how we want to perceive and respond to whatever is happening in the present moment, with full awareness of what we’re doing and what will result from what we’re doing.

Most of our memories as our primal conditioning are created by the mind of a child ingrained with a certain nature, predisposition, temperament, and tendencies, as an “interpretation” of events and activities in order to make sense of them, which comes by way of the meaning we give them that fashions the story we begin telling ourselves about them as a result. This story, formed from the imagination, intelligence and emotional state of a child, forms our “core beliefs” as the reality of our story and what’s required to sustain it, which is a personal creation as an illusion, which continues into our adulthood, where we continue perceiving reality according to our childhood story. Our beliefs shape our reality, not in the literal sense of the external elements themselves, but in terms of what we see and don’t see in any situation and how we interpret it to give it the meaning it holds for us as the means of experiencing it, while shaping our identity by way of our story about things. In this way, our memories, which are formed largely through an imaginary process of storytelling based on not knowing the true reality or other facts to what’s going on and only viewing it from “our perspective”, becomes our programming as our perceptual lens and mental filtering system, which forms the basis of all our perceptions of what we call reality, which is in fact a subjective experience of an outer objective reality. In this way our beliefs replace “actual” objective reality as an illusion that becomes a delusion, because we live out of this illusion as though it was true and thereby making it true for us.

As we witness the whole process that’s taking place within us, and being conducted by us, while shutting off all reference to the outside conditions and circumstances prompting the internal process, we can see clearly the illusion of it. We can see what we’re doing to ourselves to create the emotional state of the reaction. Through this self-awareness of the true reality of the situation, neutralizes the emotional charge as the triggering mechanism, dulling

the compulsiveness, and in that moment of calm where their used to be a storm, we realize we have a choice. We can choose how to first perceive it in a new light from a new (mature) perspective by staying in the present with what’s actually happening now, and how we want to respond accordingly. What originated as a thoughtless, knee jerk reaction, becomes a thoughtful relaxed response. In this way, the only thing that has changed, is that we took control of our own internal process instead of forfeiting it to others. We move from being “other referencing” to being “self-referencing”. By becoming aware of what we were previously unaware of, it loses its grip on us, and we find ourselves easily taking control of what was previously out of control.

Once we realize that our “perception as an interpretation” is actually something we do with our mind as a process of association and referencing the past with the present, we can actively engage in incorporating new models and paradigms necessary to form new types of experiences. We can literally take control of our own internal mental processes and direct them in an intelligent and deliberate manner by learning how to work by way of the laws as natural processes of the mind to create reality as a personal interpretation of what originates from a neutral set of events, completely devoid of personal meaning. Things only mean what we make them mean. Meaning is something we assign to material things as a way of interpreting them through a story about them as a way of experiencing them while simultaneously fashioning ourselves by way of our own perceptions. We can realize, that any time we experience being controlled by somebody else through a reaction were forming to them, we can realize that what’s actually happening is we are failing to take control of ourselves and turning over that right to another by remaining unaware of our own internal experience as a creative process. As we become aware of how we create our experiences, and we learn how to take control of our own internal processes, we come to a place where we no longer react, and instead remain relaxed and calm inside, and able to think clearly through an isolated state of inner peace. By taking control of our own mind, we exist in a constant state of introspection, that once we master, forms inner peace as self-awareness, responsibility, and competency in regards to our own self-creation and soul evolution.

Mastering the Creative Power of the Word through the Self-Realization of Thought

Our Thoughts Create our Experience of Reality as a Personal Delusion

Many of us have heard about the true power of our own thoughts, which become expressed through talking, and the power of talking to direct the thought processes of others, but we often still don’t know how to bring this knowledge into practice within our daily life in order to become more self-aware. Words are representative of ideas, and when thought or spoken, create whole imaginary realities out of them. How we talk, or the type of stories we’re always in the process of telling through expression of our character and how we’re being, is the expression of the same ideas we’re always dwelling on internally, and the same ideas and stories we’re always telling ourselves as a way of making sense of things, that give, what is in fact “neutral events” or circumstances “personal meaning”. The meaning we give things, not only means something about others and the way life is in general, but also means something about us. We’re not only the storyteller of our own life, but we’re also the main character in our own story. The reality we create by “how we think about things”, and what dramas and dialogues we naturally participate in co-creating, act to shape “who we are” and how we’re always “being”. We’re not only the sole creator of our life in terms of how we experience it by what we tell ourselves about it, but we’re simultaneously creating our “self” by way of our own thoughts, inner imaginings, and outer expressions.

While we’ve heard the fact that we “become what we think about”, so much of our feeling, thinking, and imagining is unconscious (not directly aware of it) and automatic, that we often don’t realize that we can in fact learn how to take control of our own mind, deliberately direct our attention, and become fully aware of what we’re acting to create, not only in our self and our own life, but also in the life of others. Even when we set and intention to become more self-aware, that awareness comes and goes throughout the day, and we can lose track of it almost entirely once we go out into the world and begin interacting with others and functioning in a role of some kind. We spend far more of our time engaged in unconscious thoughts and behaviors (automatic) than we do in a direct awareness of what’s happening and what our part is in co-creating it. Once we become triggered to fall into reactive behaviors, we lose all awareness and fall into habitual states and tendencies. Many people can spend the better part of their day, or entire life without any real (direct) awareness of the activities of their own mind and how or what they’re thinking about, and why.

While most think of communication as something we do with others, the fact is we’re always engaged in the process of communicating with ourselves through our own internal dialogue, as well as receiving communication from purely invisible sources that came as insight, intuition, and inspiration of some form. Thoughts as mental impressions are always being transmitted in the space around us, and we “pick up on them” as “popping into our mind”, or coming to us in a natural way that we mistake for our own thoughts, and don’t realize that we’re “receiving” them from others as a subconscious form of influence and suggestion. When we’re picking up on thoughts from our immediate environment, they come more as feelings that form mental impressions as an inner imagining of an idea or scenario, which comes to us in a spontaneous and subtle fashion. Because we’re only capable of “receiving” thoughts that correspond to our own natural style of thinking through a basic form of resonance, these thoughts seem natural to us and so we perceive them as being our own thoughts.

Subconscious forms of communication don’t come as “words” or talking, which is a product of the conscious mind, but come as feelings that form impressions much like we experience a memory. It comes as “playing an idea out” in our mind, or as observing it as a reality of some sort that stimulates a natural thought process in us as a story we start telling ourselves about it. The nature of the story we’re always in the process of telling is our “fingerprint” or personal style, and modifies the basic idea being received to conform to our style of thinking. The thought transmission acts more as a generic or universal idea as a kind of seed or potential for thought, that spawns a whole unfolding in our mind as a living reality of some sort. As we “receive” the idea into our mind, we “blend with it”, and transform it accordingly to produce a personalized version of the same idea. So we don’t “think” the same thoughts of another, but rather think the same “type of thoughts”.

We also act as a receiver for what we can call “higher forms of knowledge” that come as an intuitive (intimate) process also, that involves more of “hearing a voice” talk to you about something, and though it’s your own inner voice, it’s being used by a different authority. It’s always telling you things, or showing you things that you don’t have any way of “knowing” through your own experiences. These thoughts come more as a form of teaching, revealing, or guiding. It’s never demanding, forceful, or acting to “tell us what to do”, but simply guides us by revealing the true reality behind things, directing our attention to something that we’re not seeing on our own, or gives us a preview of what’s to come through the activities we’re engaged in, while always leaving it up to us to make up our own mind about it. This voice always has our best interest in mind, works for the good of everyone involved, is never about material ideas or desires of some sort, and never preys on our emotions, but instead invokes in us a sense of wisdom and all-pervasive knowing. We communicate with this same source through a constant form of prayer, as well as through our general thinking. Our thoughts as our internal dialogue “is” how we communicate and interact with the invisible, spiritual world of pure ideas. So we are constantly engaged in multiple forms of communication between multiple dimensions at any given moment in time, and form what we call our “reality” out of this interlaced matrix.

While we are somewhat aware of our thoughts in the general sense, because we’re always fully “within” the reality of our own thoughts as a storyline (illusion), we can’t really see them for what they are in terms of viewing them in an objective and detached manner. We often don’t realize that our “story about things” is purely a self-created idea, and we are the “only ones” who see and experience things through our own story about them. Many think that what they’re “seeing and involved in” is a neutral and objective reality that everyone is seeing equally. Yet nothing could be further from the truth. Even when we do gain a flash of realization about how our own mind is acting to create our reality, and we see something about ourselves that we “don’t like” or we realize that it may actually be something we’ve made up, we immediately go into the mode of justifying our right to feel that way, or why we’re telling that story (because it’s true), or explaining our point of view, and so on, even to ourselves! We figure that if we can explain it or justify it, then we can make it true and real. And because we’re “living out of this story” and have built our identity with it (become the character of this story), we don’t realize that it’s actually our mind’s ability to create realities that become delusional. We fall victim to our own minds creative abilities because we’ve spent our whole life subject to our own internal voice as our thought processes that are always interpreting the outer events of our life to give them the same meaning and tell the same type of story about them. Most, honestly don’t realize what they’re actually doing, and this subliminal mental power that they possess.

One of the easiest ways to begin becoming self-aware and to begin understanding how your own mind works, is to develop the process of self-reflecting or introspection. It’s easier to start with ideas that don’t have an emotional charge, or that we don’t have strong “needs” or desires invested in, because nothing causes us to go more unconscious than reactive and need-fulfilling tendencies. We can sit and relax, or simply relax while engaged in some activity, and let your mind “think” whatever it naturally thinks, without trying to control it, stop or divert it, or go into defending it somehow, and move into a detached, dissociated position of simply observing your thoughts as if another person watching them. As you listen to your story about things, simply become aware of what it is. View it without any form of emotional reaction to your own thoughts. As you do this, allow yourself to realize that “how you” reshape reality as an experience of it comes by way of your perceptual lens that “interprets” neutral ideas through a story that forms how you “experience” it, rather than “as it actually is”. Our mind doesn’t manifest or create the outer elements themselves, but rather reorganizes them into new compositions as an adaptation to our story-line. Our mind creates personal versions of a neutral outer reality by the story we tell ourselves about it. This story-line as a “theme”, is the vibratory frequency of our mind that reorders the elements of the outer world which contains the potential of “all vibratory frequencies”, into a new and variable pattern through resonance. It (our mind) only “sees” in everything else what matches it in terms of its natural expression as a frequency that has a distinct pattern or template inherent in it, that selects (chooses) only relevant items necessary to shape into its story, while ignoring or failing to see (doesn’t resonate) with anything that doesn’t, or that would act to contradict it. As you form realization around the “theme” of your story, allow yourself to simultaneously realize the true neutrality of the situation by releasing all attachments to it, or without “needing it” to be something specific.

As you gain self-awareness in common moments that don’t have strong emotions attached to them, practice this same process for areas of your life that produce a reaction of some sort in you. Again, let the idea play out naturally without trying to alter, control, or prevent it, and simply become aware of what story plays out in your mind about or around it. Allow yourself to notice that the type of story you tend to tell is formed in the most immediate sense out of the emotional state that you employ while “thinking about it”. Thought and emotion are always married, and emotions have distinct realities inherent in them as the outer experience that expresses the emotion and creates the experience necessary to sustain the emotion or give you more of it. Our thoughts as sensory ideas form the elements of our story, while our emotions are what “shape” the nature of the story we tell that gives it meaning or makes it significant (to us) somehow. As you become aware of how thought and emotion are always working in a complementary fashion to form how you shape and experience your outer reality, gain a sense of the emotions you tend to employ as a general rule. As you become aware of this, and while still embodying that emotional state, allow a chain of association to form of memories that are also associated to this emotion that act to tell the same type of story. As you become aware of his . . . . Just sit with it while concentrating on it, and allow whatever realization to come while continuing to observe them from a neutral and detached state.

As you begin practicing various forms of self-realization into the workings of your own mind, you’ll simultaneously start understanding how your mind works to create the “illusions” of reality that you’ve formed your self-belief out of, and mistook for being “real” and “who” you actually are. You can begin realizing how you’ve lived out of what has been primarily a delusion of your own making, which resulted from your inability to take control of your mind and intentionally direct it. We can only work with what we have a “working (conceptual) understanding” of. Once you become aware of your own mind’s ability to create fantasy based realities through a theme as a story-line that reshapes everything accordingly, you can begin realizing how you’ve developed your sense of self based on this delusion, and you can decide to let go of your story about things, and begin telling a new story that’s produced from learning how to operate your own mind intentionally, direct your own thought processes, intentionally employ positive emotional states, and mind what you say or talk about to others.

What we talk about brings an internal thought-idea into the external world as a projection. What we communicate outwardly reveals our thoughts and life story going on inwardly. What we say, or speak outwardly, directs the minds of others to think the same type of thoughts, invest in the same type of realities, and form an impression of us in terms of what kind of person we are. Anything you “speak” you create in the outer, material world. You give an internal idea life outside of you. It reveals how you’re interpreting everything in the outer world from your internal perspective to tell your story about it. It shows what “type” of reality you’re invested in, conditioned too, and what pattern you act to naturally create as your natural self-expression and influence over others. By recognizing your own life story as a theme, and how you’re always perceiving out of that theme to reform objective reality into a personalized version, which makes you into a certain type of person by way your own story, you can gain awareness of your souls vibratory frequency, and the creative process necessary for transforming it.

The Importance of Working with an Ideal – Creating a Vision for Your Ultimate Development

        While many of us have been trained to the idea of creating a vision for our life in terms of lifestyle, professional career, relationships, health, etc., few of us embrace the importance of forming an “ideal” of ourselves in terms of self-development or spiritual realization. Yet, the interesting fact that many fail to realize is that all other goals as activities or accomplishments of our life, depend on our personal development for achieving in a natural and automatic fashion. Our “life” is created out of our “self”. We are the creators of our life as a fundamental form of self-expression. By changing ourselves and acquiring new abilities, all other areas of our life change accordingly. If we try to change “areas of our life” without changing the part of ourselves that are naturally producing it, we struggle, become frustrated, and usually fail in the ultimate sense, often, without ever knowing why.

Another “fluffy comment” that’s popular these days is the idea that you’re “perfect just the way you are”. This idea is usually addressing various forms of judgment from other people, or self-esteem issues around “not being good enough”. Yet self-perfection, as a personal “ideal”, which is the ultimate and only real spiritual goal, is something we not only decide for ourselves, but are also fully responsible for executing. Nobody can develop us for us (intentionally), just as no one can heal us. All healing and self-growth is something only we can do for ourselves by how we use our mind to control our body, our behaviors, and activities that we naturally engage in. In much the same way we create a vision as an ultimate outcome, achieved through systematic steps and stages as goals necessary for achieving the outcome, we create an “ideal” of ourselves as “being the best we can be”, then aspire towards it by intentionally developing latent potential, healing emotional and psychological issues that prevent it, or being the way we want to be in terms of character and quality of consciousness.

Perfection can be thought of as taking an idea, and turning it into the ultimate form of that idea as an “ideal”. Perfection is whatever perfect means to us. No one else can tell us what perfection means, or what qualities we need to develop in order to be perfect. Perfection is a standard or quality of being. Our concept of self-perfection as our “ideal self”, is something that we must soul search in order to realize, then want it bad enough to devote ourselves to doing what it takes to become it. Our personal ideal has nothing to do with material possessions, wealth, status, or creating a self image that we portray to the world as a false image of how we’d like to be seen by others, but rather as an essential part of our true nature that’s developed internally, that becomes a natural part of our being. It comes by developing qualities that evolve our character to a higher level of awareness and self-control, which forms the foundation necessary for a whole series of positive changes to take place automatically as the natural offspring of new qualities of consciousness. The most natural way to create in all areas of our life, is to start by consciously creating our “self”. Out of our self, comes everything else in an effortless and spontaneous way.

In many of the spiritual traditions, which are all focused on self-development from a moral perspective, they provide a system of understanding qualities of consciousness as possessing opposite yet complementary aspects of each other as vices and virtues. Vices are poor character traits that form weakness that lead to various forms of addictions and moral degradation, and are predominantly destructive in nature. Virtues are positive, opposite qualities of vices, which provide the means for transforming them. Virtues are qualities of higher levels of consciousness that are strengths, lead to growth and nourishment, and naturally produce very positive and constructive results in all areas of your life. Virtues are loving and unselfish in nature, and act naturally to produce a sense of harmony, pervading contentment, and happiness not only for ourselves, but for everyone involved. Virtues expand our awareness and increase our ability to both give and receive higher forms of knowledge and unconditional love.

Anytime we’re creating, we have to start with a vision of the desired outcome as an experience, so we know what the process for creating it will be. Though your ultimate vision for your ideal self may take many steps to accomplish, it’s important that you work on only one step at a time, and don’t start the next step until that one is well established and a part of your natural way of being (built into your subconscious). One of the ways we set ourselves up for failure, is by trying to take on too many things at one time creating a feeling of being overwhelmed and therefore struggling, or by scattering our energy in too many directions by trying to do too much all at once. Every acquisition of a new quality requires complete concentration and devoted practice over an extended period of time in order to “build it into the muscle”, where it becomes a natural way of being that no longer requires conscious effort.

Even with concentrated effort and a strong sense of discipline to stay with a task over a long period of time, you’ll relapse many times throughout the day by falling into habitual patterns that are well established and forgetting what you’re doing. This is natural, and when you realize you’re off task, simply re-center (remind) yourself in your desired intention, refocus your mind and adjust your mood, and continuing practicing. Repeatedly bring yourself back anytime you forget, and continue practicing without getting discouraged, and the new quality and behavior associated with it will begin taking hold, and you’ll be able to stay focused for longer and longer periods of time. All forms of intentional creation come from your ability to concentrate your efforts and stay focused on what it is you’re creating.

The approximate time for breaking one habit by replacing it with another, is forty days, or six weeks. The approximate time for simply establishing a new habit that doesn’t involve breaking an old one, is three weeks (half the time), or twenty one days, and it’s fully established (permanent) in six weeks. This gives you an idea of the amount of time you should plan on dedicating to each step of your development. You’ll also develop the ability to concentrate and stay with something for long periods of time, commit to devotional practice, and develop the patience it takes to accomplish a major feat (which a behavioral change is). You can consider your goal accomplished when you become that way automatically, and no longer have to think about it, or put conscious effort into it. All behaviors are “learned and conditioned” (trained), and likewise, can be unlearned and reconditioned. Our initial development was a predominately unconscious process, and all we’re doing here is making it a fully conscious process undertaken with a deliberate and determined attitude.

In order to realize what your ideal is, simply allow yourself to realize that an idea of who you really are, and how you’d like to be already exists inside of you as the qualities, talents, natural gifts, and interests that you naturally possess. No matter what stage of your life you’re at, you’ve only brought a small portion of your “self” into expression, while the greater part of yourself as “potential” remains dormant inside of you. Parts of you may have been developed in a negative way through your initial conditioning, which you can transform into its positive opposite quality. For example, fear and cowardice (often displayed through anger or defensiveness), can be transformed by embodying courage and bravery in its place. Hatred and a sense of animosity, can be transformed with love and compassion. Whatever is the opposite quality is what’s used to transform an existing “bad quality” or “destructive tendency”. Every “quality”, which has a behavior inherent in it, exists in a dual state of complementary opposites (sympathy and antipathy) as a positive or negative expression of the same quality of consciousness. Just as “hot and cold” are degrees of the same thing, and light and dark are degrees of the same thing, love and hate, fear and courage, humility and confidence, are all degrees of the same thing, and its opposite can be used to transform it by degrees. In order to begin practicing, start with smaller things or ideas that don’t produce a strong emotional charge or aren’t intense in nature, and are therefore easier to manage, and gradually work your way up to ideas that trigger you emotionally causing reactive behaviors.

Our state-of-mind (quality of consciousness) is created by 3 aspects that are always in-sync with each other. These three aspects are what we focus on, what we tell ourselves about what we’re focused on that makes it mean something, and what we’re doing with our body. Our physiology is a direct reflection of our state-of-mind as our quality of consciousness that we’re employing at any given moment. If you can’t control your attention and thoughts, you can learn to control your body and how you’re behaving instead. We can employ a quality by modeling the behavior associated with it. Just like when we were kids, we play acted and pretended to be “like” our favorite characters and role models, we utilize the same techniques as adults. Pretend like you’re an actor acting out a certain character within a specific role.

If you want to develop confidence, for example, find someone that you consider confident and watch and study them. What is it that they’re doing that makes them “confident”? What’s their posture like, their attitude, body language, and how do they hold themselves? How do they speak, the tone, speed or rate, and emphasis? What are their facial expressions, demeanor, and idiosyncrasies? How do they dress? Study them, elicit their strategy, and then imitate the same way of being. Practice until you feel comfortable with it and incorporate your own style into it. Then practice being that way in general. Practice it as a normal way of being in all areas of your life. Notice that when you change how you’re acting, that you experience yourself in new ways. You feel different and sense yourself in a different way. Step into the feeling and embrace it with a new level of awareness. Allow yourself to kind of fall in love with how your feeling and being. Get off on it. Allow yourself to feel empowered by it, not in an arrogant or conceited way, but in an expressive, uninhibited and expansive way. Notice the freedom it allows and new levels of self-expression that are very powerful in terms of not only the freedom you feel, but the response you get from others who are forming an impression of you and admiring you. Be an actor in your own life, and take it all in. After a while, it’ll become natural and normal.

In order to acquire a quality by practicing and becoming it in mind and body, we have to have a good enough idea of what that quality is like in terms of attitude, emotions, demeanor and behaviors so that we can practice being that way by imitating it. Don’t worry that you’ll be “copying somebody”, because the process of imitating is what allows your own style to come forth, you simply need a starting point as a kind of template for producing it. Once you begin practicing, you’ll come into yourself in terms of being that way, and you’ll produce your own unique version of it. We need a channel of expression in order to “find” our own style for doing things. Your style for “being” exists within you like your fingerprint or signature, and simply needs to be awakened and given a channel for outward expression, until you start feeling comfortable and natural being that way. Keep in mind, you always feel a bit (or a lot) awkward and out of place, or “not yourself” at first, because it’s new and you’re not used to it. But just keep practicing as if you’re an actor in the “play of your life”, and after awhile it’ll start feeling completely natural to you, and you’ll begin automatically “feeling” that way, and perceiving life from that perspective. All it takes is dedicated practice and a spirit of renewal and self-realization by bringing forth parts of yourself that up to this point in your life, you’ve never really experienced before!

Learning how to Self-Reflect and gain Self-Realization

Lessons for Spiritual Development

The primary process of spiritual development is self-realization that allows for self-mastery. Self, in both of these cases means coming to recognize and understand the intimate relationship between the body and the soul spirit. One of the most natural tendencies we have as humans, is we live the better part of our life in a primarily unconscious and dis-empowered state that tends to focus on trying to change other people and external situations as a way of being alright with things, instead of working with the only thing we truly have control over, which is ourselves. By working on ourselves, we won’t need to change other people and circumstances. By working with ourselves and learning to control our own mind, we completely lose the need to change anything outside of ourselves, because we’re no longer controlled or affected by them.

The most basic way we begin gaining self-awareness is by learning how to become aware of your reactions to everyone and everything else, while refraining from outward action, and simply turning your attention inward and begin observing what’s happening inside of you, and why. Completely remove your attention from whomever or whatever caused the reaction, and realize what the cause set into motion within your body and your mind. Notice where you feel the sensation in your body (chest, heart, stomach, sexual organs, throat, etc.), and what kind of sensation it is (sinking, pressure, tingly, sharp stabbing, fluttery, queasy, arousing, etc.). Then notice what thought or memory starts automatically running through your mind in response to it. Some kind of imagined reality as a memory will probably start playing out automatically that may be a picture, a scenario, hearing something being said or that’s happening, an emotion may swell in you that feels overwhelming, and so on. Simply observe it without trying to repress or stop it.

As you observe a form of chain of association take place as an inner unfolding or systematic process, stay with it for awhile, without needing to suppress it, hold it back out prevent it, quit thinking about it, or justify your right to feel that way, and simply watch and relive the experience of it. Become aware of what you tell yourself about it as a kind of story that narrates or explains it. See the connection between the emotion and the memory that produces an automatic pattern as an instant, unconscious reaction to that same emotion or characteristic (tone, attitude, demeanor, actual words, etc.) in the present situation.

You don’t have to try and work through it, correct yourself, forgive anybody, or do any kind of therapeutic work, all you have to do is observe it fully from an objective perspective that’s not judging anybody or anything in the memory, but simply bringing what was previously unconscious into full conscious awareness. It’s realizing something about yourself that you’re only partially aware of in the general sense. Just the awareness alone, forms a kind of healing by moving you from a helpless and dis-empowered position, to one of self-awareness and empowerment. What this means is that from this point on, whenever you’re triggered in the same manner, you’ll catch yourself before the reaction takes hold, realize what’s happening, and it no longer acts to control you, and in that moment, you’ll realize, you can now choose how you want to respond in a thoughtful manner, because you see the cause itself in a new light, and you no longer relate the present to the past, but see it instead for what it actually is.

This practice alone is the basis for dissolving karma, which is the habitual repetition of unconscious patterns that keep you creating the same effects and reactions in your life through the cause and effect relationship that keeps you living out of past memories as a way of creating in the present. It allows us to remove our focus from other people and outer circumstances, and keep our focus instead on what’s happening inside of us and how we’re being in the situation. It reverse’s the cause and effect relationship where other people “cause” us to react, and instead puts us in a position to be the cause of our own actions by use of choice and will to control and determine our perception and behaviors.

Karma and the Law of Cause and Effect – Changing Reactive Behaviors

Karma can probably be most clearly understood as the law of cause and effect, or action that produces an equal or greater reaction. Karma is the fundamental activity of our life, which is either repeating a pattern as a natural tendency or unconscious behaviors, which produces a like effect as a reaction or immediate consequences to our actions, or it comes as a willful and deliberate act that we’re fully aware of and do intentionally. Most karma originates from conditioning of some form, where we’re trained to behavioral dynamics of some sort as the emotional dramas being played out around us that we’re a part of, and ultimately learn to participate in and cooperate in repeating as a kind of life theme that produces a consistent experience of reality. Once conditioned with a thematic life pattern as a type of experience or story that we naturally act to tell by the perceptions and relationships we form with everyone and everything else, we go through most of our life (or lives) forming and playing a familiar role in the same dynamics, over and over, through all areas of our life, usually without any real awareness that we’re the ones creating it.

 

The patterns we form as a thematic story is a natural product of our mental paradigm, and the emotional states we live out of as a general rule. All patterns are the result or expression of “states of consciousness” or mind-sets that form our everyday thoughts, and determine what we’re capable of seeing (perceiving outwardly) in any situation, and what we’re not. Those who share our thematic patterns and behavioral dynamics (of the same frequency) standout, we notice them, gravitate towards them, and they effect us or cause an internal–emotional reaction in us. Those who are of a different frequency or behavioral dynamics, don’t stand out, we don’t really notice or pay attention to them, and we can exist in near proximity of them for extended periods of time without ever interacting with them. Anyone that we share karma (life patterns) with, we tend to easily form a relationship with, and they participate in acting out the same type of story with us. While we can play any role in a dynamic, we tend to favor one while remaining largely unconscious of the others, and are most compatible with those who will play the complementary role, allowing us to remain largely unconscious of what we’re cooperating in creating.

Anytime we get caught up in a strong emotional charge of some kind, and have a strong reaction to something, we’re in the process of acting out karma as automatic and repetitive behavior that we do without thinking about or having any realization around before we do it. It’s thoughtless behavior produced by an emotional charge, which literally renders us unconscious. When we live out of a volatile sea of emotional states that keep us in a constant reactive state, or always thinking about and dwelling in what “someone else is doing”, while losing all awareness of what we’re doing instead, we can live the better part of our life out of an unconscious state, and simply repeat past patterns over and over. This is the fundamental nature of karma.

 

To get off the “karmic wheel” of fate and fortune as haphazard, knee-jerk reactions and mindless emotional drama, we have to begin gaining control over our own mind and senses, and refrain from emotional reactions of all kinds, while self-reflecting instead. As we refrain from outwardly reacting, which keeps us only conscious of the other person, and we become aware instead of what’s happening inside of us “as” the reaction itself that produces automatic behavior by accessing a memory associated with the emotion that’s activating it, and the type of behavior being displayed outside of us. It’s the emotion that enters our body, stimulating us with that same emotion, and the memory as a similar event that we have directly associated to it, that basically says “this (the present) is the same as that (the past)”, and we react in a like manner.  By doing this, we create in the present the same realities and experiences as the past. We act the same way, and create the same behavior, which not only produces the same type of experience again, but draws to us the same consequences or reactions to our behaviors. Once we “do something”, we can’t undo it, and it sets into motion a whole series of consequences, some of which are immediate and intense, others which extend over longer periods of time and are more subtle and gradient. Some consequences we recognize and own, others come later and can mystify us.

To break the patterns that bind us, we have to become fully present in the moment, become aware of any emotional charges while refraining from reacting to them, then shift our attention inwardly to observe what’s happening inside of us. Notice what the emotion is, where and how we feel it in our body, what memory immediately comes to mind in response to it, and the story we start telling ourselves about what’s happening. Because like always stimulates what’s like it, we can become aware of aspects of ourselves that we normally aren’t fully aware of or are in denial around for some reason. When we remove our attention from the outside stimulus, which is merely serving to awaken the same reality within us, and we pay attention instead to what’s happening inside of us, and we simply self-reflect on what process begins simultaneously unfolding as a whole idea, and we realize the nature of our reaction, and we “observe” our own inner experience. Just the awareness alone brings what we are unconscious of into conscious awareness. The awareness alone is enough to break the reactive pattern as a tendency, because we can catch ourselves as we’re doing it. Once we become aware of our own tendencies, and no longer react to them when being displayed by others, we can consciously choose our own behavior in response to them. We can decide what to do from a calm and relaxed inner state. By doing this, we transform old karma by producing new karma in its place as new patterns activated by the same outer stimulus.

 

When we’re in full control of what we do, and we’re not being controlled by outside forces, we become conscious creators in our own lives, and we respond from a thoughtful place that acts to cause an entirely different reaction. We can neutralize a strong emotion being projected towards us by another by deflecting it instead of absorbing it, while simultaneously initiating a new one to take it’s place by counteracting it, and changing the persons state to match ours. In this way, we can become self-determined and act as a positive influence for those who aren’t. We can transmute our karma as old reactive patterns into new patterns of awareness and intentional action that’s aware of the consequences our reactions produce and as a form of consciously creating.

How to Begin Taking Control of your Emotional State

There’s nothing that controls us more than the emotions we experience or act to produce through the nature of our thoughts. One of the first steps to working consciously with anything is by gaining awareness around it and coming to understand how it operates. By becoming aware of what it is, how it works, the natural relationship it forms as a creative process, and what affects they produce when uncontrolled and haphazard. Emotions exist at the subconscious level of the mind, which means we engage in them, experience them, transmit and receive them, without direct awareness of what’s happening. When we enter into them, they produce pronounced and intense state of mind and bodily sensations and cause us to go unconscious while producing reactive behaviors. Our reactive behaviors create in our life and draw to us immediate consequences.

 
People who experience intense emotions are usually highly reactive, easy to control through their emotions, and prone to delusions formed out of thinking that’s driven by emotions. While in a reactive state we’re completely unconscious of what we’re actually doing and running on autopilot. Many, when they come out of an outburst or temporary loss of control, only vaguely remember it in terms of what they said and did, and once the realize what they’ve done, feel ashamed, embarrassed, guilty, or regretful. But of course, it’s too late, what’s done is done, and can’t be undone. During reactions, many honestly experience a form of black-out where they’re completely unconscious, and it’s as if something has “taken them over”, and only start coming back into awareness somewhere in the middle of what they’re doing, and so in a strange sort of way, actually aren’t fully responsible for what they say and do, even though it was still extremely destructive and damaging and came as the result of a complete lack of control. This can make emotionally reactive people very stressful to be around and unpredictable. You have the feeling of walking on egg-shells because you never know how they’ll take something or what will set them off.

So to begin the process of learning how to control your self and avoid being infected by emotions is to approach them with an attitude of understanding them. This can be done through simple self-observation and reflection. We don’t need a scientific explanation in order to understand it in terms of working with it. Emotions are something we experience everyday in an intimate fashion. We first want to look at how emotions are transmitted and received. Notice that you can sense and perceive emotions being put off by someone experiencing them. This is a kind of emanation, projection, or transmission. You sense them because you feel them. You pick up on them as internal sensations located at different spots or areas of your body. While you may not know what caused them, or what thoughts they’re actually having, you know what “kind” of emotions they are – angry, sad, happy, scared, in love, heartbroken, and so on – because they make you feel the same way. You simply want to notice this “transmission and reception” of emotions.

 
Emotions are shared by the entire natural world, and are the primary “language” or communicative activity of the subconscious mind. You want to begin forming an idea in your mind that the very atmosphere of the Earth that surrounds us and that we’re apart of, is like a field of energy that acts as a carrier wave for the transmission of vibration as emotion that stimulates us producing “states of mind”. These vibrations as emotions are experienced as “qualities of consciousness” that move freely through matter, and are transmitted by “entering us” and activating the same feeling in us. These emotions, in the animal kingdom are designed to create automatic behaviors and activities in the animals as instinct, who, of course, don’t “think about things”, but act and react as more of a “cause and effect” type of relationship, where the information of their environment is apart of them, and acts to direct their activities. This transmission of energy designed to produce automatic behaviors affects us also, causing reactions, but the problem is we also form our “thinking” out of them, and as a result, create whole realities as an illusion that’s mistaken for being real or actual. We create whole realities out of emotional states that render us unconscious and cause us to act in a knee-jerk fashion.

Notice what happens inside of you when you pick up on a strong emotion, one that’s being projected directly at you, or you’re interacting with someone who communicating through the emotion, or is in a reactive state themselves and unloading on you. Notice the intensity while refraining completely from acting on it, while letting it completely rise in you, filling you. Concentrate on being present with it by giving it your full attention. Don’t try to shut it down or suppress it through a feeling of overwhelm. You can hold the emotion fully within you without expressing it. Stay with it in it’s intensity until it peaks and starts dying down. Allow yourself to notice the thoughts you reference and think about as a form of memory associated with it. This usually comes as a scene that starts playing out, of either an experience you had while in this same state, or as the kind of experience this emotion would produce or come from. Whether an actual memory or an imagined one, notice that they come in the same way, as what seems like a memory.

 
Emotion as a state of mind is always intimately associated with all our experiences, and determines what kind of thoughts we form in our mind, or what previous experiences we continue to play over and over. Emotions have a very active component to them, and tend to make us act in some way according to them. When emotions are intense, behavior is immediate and often explosive or extreme. While we may not experience a clear thought process, the emotion does cause an instant behavior as a reaction that’s produced as a pattern for the body through memory of some form. Emotions not only keep us behaving in the same way, but living out of the same past.

 
Once you begin practicing this in your daily life, starting with the common emotions that are easy to control, then working your way up, you can begin consciously controlling not only your actual emotions, but your behavior and what you do or who and how you’re being. Because they no longer take place in an unconscious fashion, you don’t go unconscious when experiencing them. As you begin staying conscious and aware of them, from a disassociated and detached perspective of witnessing or observing them, you can literally begin directing and controlling them. You can create an imaginary boundary a couple of feet from your body as a bubble like sphere surrounding your body, that’s a shield where the emotion is experienced on the surface of this sphere and never allowed to penetrate you or produce and affect “in you”. When you keep the emotion outside of you, yet allow it to fully reflect on the outer boundary, much like looking at it through a lens, you can still see (imagine) the reality or memory inherent in it, while keeping it outside of you. You can look through the lens of the emotion as a perception of it, while never actually feeling it in your body or allowing it to become a part of you. This forms the basis for developing compassion. You may feel the residual affect of the emotion more like an echo or subtle sensation produced by the perception of it, much like your own thoughts elicit emotions in response to them, but it’ll have a distant feeling, and be easy to control and direct out of your body at will.

As you practice and get good at the process involved, you’ll naturally be able to use it in emotionally intense or volatile situations, with equal ease. By being able to still have or see the experience of the emotion outside of your body, you’ll stay conscious and fully awake in situations you’d normally go unconscious in, and you’ll be able to see the illusion of the emotion as a delusion or false representation of reality, without partaking in the same illusion yourself. You can begin realizing how emotions skew and distort perception and replace objective reality with a false interpretation of a subjective reality. You’ll be able to realize how emotions control people and keep them locked into illusions of their own making. You’ll be able to realize that their reaction and behavior is based on a lie that they perceive as real and factual.

 
Once you can keep emotions from penetrating and infecting you, you can dissociate and detach from them and stay centered in an objective and actual reality that’s not based on a shared emotional illusion. By being able to see clearly, you can understand and therefore feel a deepened sense of compassion for other people who simply haven’t learned how to step outside of their own made-up realities long enough to see the truth. By being able to witness this reality with other people, you’ll be able to see your own illusions in an objective and neutral fashion also. By understanding emotions, how they work to infect us causing a kind of mental illness, we can begin working with them while remaining fully conscious and centered in an undisturbed inner peace and equilibrium that allows for an neutral and objection perception that shows us the truth hidden in the surface appearance of things.
