Archetypes as Laws and Principles that Provide Tools for Personal Transformation

In order to gain an understanding of how archetypes work in our psychological make-up, we have to start by defining what an archetype is. An archetype is what’s used in the most primary sense to illustrate or represent natural principles and laws. An archetype represents a kind of prototype, universal template, or ideal that we use for creating in every aspect of our life. As multidimensional, multifaceted beings, our personality and psychological make-up is comprised of universal archetypes that we share with all of humanity, represented by the zodiac and the ancient gods of Mythology. An archetype as a principle is represented as an “idea” or “being” that has certain types of attributes, qualities and characteristics, that form its basic personality giving it a natural disposition, temperament, perspective and “type” or kind of behaviors that naturally lend themselves to telling a certain type of story as it’s “identity”.

Our basic psychological make-up as our personality is formed by the twelve universal (everyone has them) archetypes of the zodiac as personality traits in varying degrees and aspects that are composed into a “formula” as our primary “state of consciousness”.  As we go out into the world and begin participating in co-creating reality, this state of consciousness as our personality acts to predetermine and form our “identity” as the roles we naturally cast ourselves in or take on, and the type of story we tell by how we express our character traits and live our life. In order to change the character traits that make up our personality and identity, we have to work by way of principles as archetypes.

The ultimate form of transformation as self-development, doesn’t come by changing individual or select behaviors, habits, or tendencies, though it can be in the ordinary sense, but rather by working with attributes and qualities that form new characteristics. By evolving characteristics that form our personality and have natural behaviors inherent in them as a “way of being”, we naturally produce new experiences that give us a new and different “sense of ourselves”, that simultaneously produces a new kind of reality as the story we naturally begin telling through our newly acquired perceptions and behaviors. “Being” always produces “doing”, and doing results in physical manifestation.

       To work through principles says that the way to change how something or someone functions and performs, and the reality they create through the story they naturally tell as a result, is to work with their character and nature to alter, modify and reformulate its inherent properties and elements. By adjusting and modifying the qualities one expresses through, we change the entire operation. So instead of trying to change one aspect within a whole, natural operation, often without ever identifying what attribute is ultimately causing it, you work instead to adjust the inner nature as their character, and let the changes that ensue from it naturally take place. Then evaluate them to determine if or what other attributes need to be adjusted, until it naturally acts to produce the change you want. All change ultimately comes in a natural and permanent manner by changing the character of the person forming the behaviors that you desire to change. All other methods may solve a specific application or instance, but the behavior and tendency itself will continue to play out in others ways.

What’s referred to in Alchemy as the “chemical marriage”, comes through coupling, combining, and assimilation of its equal and complementary opposite. Transformation takes place by mingling, blending, and combining contradictory opposites to form a new whole. By returning what is fixed and dead to a fluid and growing state. When we assume habitual qualities that make up our character and nature, and fail to grow in the essential sense of our inner self, we become as dead matter, measured only by quantity and proportion. We stagnate and begin living a life of routine and dogma, performing the same rituals day after day in an automatic way, and begin living out of the same mindset telling ourselves the same story day in and day out.

When we stop growing, learning, and becoming something new and different in each moment, we begin the process of withering and dying. All behaviors and habits are merely the expression of established and well-practiced qualities that make up our character. So the way to change a habit, specific behavior, or tendency, isn’t to work directly with it in the practical sense of breaking a pattern to form a new one, but rather by identifying what part of your nature is producing that behavior as a natural expression and working through the law of sympathy and antipathy to modify it. It’s only by changing our inner nature somehow that we change our outer expression as our reality.

Qualities exist as attributes that are polar in nature as complementary opposites that form extremes of each other, with a gradient scale between them as degrees. We seldom ever fall exclusively on one side or the other, but rather somewhere in between, and express in favor of one extreme or the other under different circumstances. Many behavioral tendencies come more as a dynamic and interactive combination of qualities that must be worked with as groups or complementary clusters rather than as singular in nature, although often what is spurned as a quality actually results from a “core or parent” quality, which, when transformed, changes all offspring produced by it systematically.

For example, jealousy and envy, whose opposite is admiration and trust, may be the offspring of self-doubt, lack of confidence, and low self-worth, and until this is addressed and transformed, the jealousy won’t go away. At best it’ll be repressed and subdued or corrected (seemingly) in one situation, while still existing as a tendency and natural perception in any other situation that warrants it, because what’s “causing it” hasn’t been changed. Once self-worth has been transformed into a healthy state of confidence, self-love and admiration, the tendency towards jealousy in all areas dissipates and is no longer apart of personal awareness and feelings. In other words, the person no longer feels that way in situations that used to warrant a deep feeling of jealousy and envy.

To breed confidence in place of being timid and feeling unsure of yourself requires working with believing in yourself, trusting yourself, and honoring your uniqueness. Just trying to correct the behavior itself by telling them (or yourself) to not be timid or afraid, or by making them feel bad somehow for being that way, not only doesn’t transform it, but can in fact compound and exaggerate it, making it even worse. Qualities as our inner nature and personality form an interactive model as a cluster of qualities that have been developed through an active and expressive state to produce our experiences. We form beliefs about and around ourselves and others through the active expression of innate qualities being brought out in us through the dynamics, conditions, and life situations we grew up in, that served to establish our initial personality as traits and characteristics we naturally possess and outwardly express as adults.

       All of these well-developed qualities have their complementary opposites, which also exist within us in a latent state, and can be used in a strategic manner to transform them. We simply have to realize it, form a desire and intention to perfect ourselves, and use our will creatively to transform our character into new habits. We “become” whatever we form a habit of. By intentionally working to develop ourselves by embodying and acting out counteractive qualities, and practicing “being that way”, we change how we feel, how we “sense ourselves”, and how we feel about ourselves. For example, just by changing our posture from a slumped one to an erect one, back straight, head held up high, making eye contact, all characteristics of “confident behavior”, we actually feel more confident. As we feel more confident, we create an experience of ourselves as “being” confident, and we start acting that way more and more, until it becomes a natural part of who we are in the most ordinary sense.

        All qualities have a state-of-mind and physiological characteristics associated with them. By becoming an actor in our own life, so to speak, we can imagine the state-of-mind out of which confidence would be the result, and by employing the behaviors and postures that communicate and demonstrate confidence, and “become” confident as a result. We can actively choose to embody that state and quality of being, and act it out as a means of expressing ourselves in some situation, as the basis for creating an experience of ourselves in that manner. If we feel we don’t know how to be, feel, and act confident, we can find someone that we consider confident and self-assured, study them to see what they’re attitude, frame of mind, physiology (the way they hold themselves, gestures, facial expressions, voice tone and quality, etc.), and how they act, then we can model them by “pretending” to be the same way. Just like when we were kids and we developed ourselves by pretending to be just like our favorite characters. This whole process of self-development is natural to us as children when we’re in the natural state of creating ourselves using our imagination, but we tend to lose it as we become adults. As adults, we’ve established patterns and instead of taking an attitude of “creating new memories”, we begin simply living out of the memories already created in a repetitive fashion, feeling and being the same way over and over, creating the same type of experiences in the present as in the past.

While the subconscious mind, which forms our personality, is habitual in nature, working to create and behave in an automatic fashion based on memory as habits, it’s also passive and receptive in nature, lacking a will of its own, and can be directed by the conscious mind to employ new qualities, behave in new ways according to those qualities, and form new memories that will become new habits as a natural way of being. We don’t need to go through years of therapy in an attempt to try and resolve or understand our story about things and what happened to us, and why we became the way we are. All we have to do is realize as adults we still have the ability to create ourselves in any way we want to by simply detaching from the past and our story about it, deciding what aspects of ourselves we want to grow and transform into something better and greater, set the intention to do so, then begin the work of practicing in a disciplined manner to become it.

       We can bring what’s in a fixed and established state back into a fluid and growing state. We can realize who we’ve become up to this point, and who we want to be instead, or in moving forward to continue the process of actively developing ourselves. We see ourselves and our life as a “work in progress” of continuous and never-ending growth. Not as “being” a certain way, but as a continuous state of “becoming”. We can decide what story we want to tell by how we live our life, and what “kind” of person we have to become in order to do that. We can move outside of the mindset that says we’re always determined by other people, by how they act and treat us, or by what situations we found ourselves in or acted unknowingly to create, and begin taking an attitude instead of being responsible for our own development and who we become by way of our own willful decisions and actions. We can disconnect from all the memories and illusions of the past, be present in the moment, and become aware of ourselves in terms of how and who we’re being, and “in that awareness”, actively choose how we’re going to be, regardless of others and what’s happening around us.

We can detach from our emotional connection to others that keep us constantly affected by and responding to them, reside apart from them as our own person, and choose how we’re going to interact accordingly. We’re only affected by people because as children in our “formative years”, only our subconscious was fully developed and dominantly active and we were constantly taking in the suggestions and attitudes of others and using them to shape ourselves in relation with them. This tendency becomes established as a way of self-development, so that even when the self-conscious aspect of the mind develops to the point of being active and dominate as our awareness, which has the ability to judge and decide what to let in or keep out, we still act to develop in an unconscious manner. Once we develop a conscious mind, which separates us from our parents and others, and gives us the ability to think for ourselves, discriminate and reason, and act based on choice and will to give suggestions to our own subconscious mind as a way of self-development instead of other-development, we have the ability to become self-determined.

The problem is, by the time we’ve become adults it’s become a habit as an automatic process of stimulus – response, action – reaction, and we don’t realize that we now have a will and can act independent of others in determining our own psychological makeup. We can finally realize that who others are, how they’re being towards us, and what they think of us has nothing to do with us, unless we let it by engaging through a reactive like-response. As soon as we realize this, break the unconscious emotional connection, and see ourselves as a part from others, where their behavior and attitude no longer produces a reaction in us, we step into our true power to decide in every moment who and how we’re going to be, then acting it out as an experience of ourselves.

Summary:

All transformation comes as an “inside job”. It comes through transforming the qualities that make up our character that naturally produce all of our perceptions and behaviors as a natural way of being that serve to tell a story of some kind. We don’t transform by addressing specific behaviors, but rather by working with the personality traits and character that act to naturally produce them as a tendency. By changing our “core” or kernel, we change how it expresses outwardly and what it acts to create through behaviors and deeds of some sort. Archetypes are tools for transformation because they provide us with a dynamic system of what qualities and personality traits produce what type of behaviors that naturally perform a stylized operation as a thematic story-line.

All qualities exist in polarity, with a wide range of degrees and variances in between, and all qualities can be modified by employing their opposite and contradictory aspect. All vibration as a pattern is altered by coupling with a similar, yet variable pattern of the same nature, where different degrees of the same quality are being expressed, that allows it to acquire and take on new attributes. We train and condition ourselves to new ways of being by modeling the qualities necessary until they become a natural part of us. Whatever we pretend to be, we become. Pretending and playacting is the key to personal transformation and developing your character in a natural and deliberate way.

Spiritual Guidance – Birthing Our Higher Self within Our Lower Mind

The idea of spiritual guidance is a little bit different for everybody because it’s based on what we’ve been taught and accepted as true, what we’ve come to believe about ourselves and the nature of reality, and our own personal style which simply emerges naturally through practice. When we bring an idea into practice, we not only develop our own personal technique for doing things, but we engage in the principles governing it, and naturally move through steps or stages of development that naturally ensue as a form of growth process. These stages of development come as an active and progressive process where we tune into the invisible realm of consciousness that underlies and operates through the physical realm, that develops an intuitive awareness around things that are normally hidden or not recognized, that tend to come more as signs, symbols, messages, coincidences, and synchronicities as a chain-of-association where we begin seeing the interconnectedness that underlies surface appearances.

 
This stage, usually brought on by tuning into a higher form such as God, our Higher-Self, Angels, Spirit guides, Masters, and so on, operates out of a basis of perceived separation (us and them), and usually involves “asking” of some form. This starts the ball rolling, and begins developing our intuition by recognizing and sensing invisible forces of consciousness, that bleed through surface appearances and comes as a “feeling” about things that connects it to other ideas through the “nature” of the feeling, or reveals to us hidden aspects being disguised in material objects, and more significantly, in people. This stage is very inspiring and motivates us through the sense of magic that it contains. It engages us in a mystery with a sense of curiosity that brings new realizations that forms a fascination around things. This is the stage where we begin connecting to the inner nature of things as a form of soul-to-soul communication that comes as direct experience that brings a realization as recognizing and perceiving its spiritual nature.

Through this initial stage of praying and asking that brings answers through realizations that begin exercising and developing our ability to perceive things intuitively, introduces us to a whole new realm of reality. It also begins introducing us experimentally to the idea of interlaced parallel dimensions and a hierarchy as kingdoms, which define “whole” realities that are inherent within even greater realities. It initiates the realization that at a higher level of consciousness that sees the reality that we’re within as a “whole” rather than a segmented part, can also “orchestrate” the events of our life based on the principle of choice and will, which is really a form of vibration and resonance. We begin realizing that while we may view praying as an intentional act that we take a moment, stop what we’re doing, and concentrate on an idea that we’re dealing with or want, and consciously ask for it, in reality, we’re in a constant form of prayer through our very thinking, what we talk about and tell others, and most importantly through our emotional states and the behaviors they produce that not only form our interactive quality, but are also a form of cause and effect that draw to us direct, and often immediate consequences. The Higher Powers cannot act on our life by bringing us what is not equivalent to our quality and level of consciousness, but rather acts through us, as us. This usually comes as a notion about something, an idea that pops into our head that we start thinking about, a mental impression that starts coming to us on a regular basis, or we simply start getting a feeling about something, but either way, it’s up to us to allow it to come through us, and to act on it, rather than dismissing it or blowing it off, ignoring it, or changing it by adapting it to our story about things, or we doubt it as being a fantasy or “self-generated” thought born out of wishful thinking.

 

 

This stage, like all stages of growth, plateau’s, and seems to loose its punch. This usually comes as a feeling like we go through “dry spells” where we’re no longer receiving guidance, are no longer experiencing intuitive awareness, and life seems to return to it’s mundane and ordinary status as unremarkable. Sometimes people become dependent on what they experience as “spirit guides” of some sort that are separate from them and tell them what to do, or give them guidance as a communication of some sort. When this happens, and we become fully invested in a reality of “separateness”, where we continue to perceive ourselves and “another”, we either stay in this experience and become a form of surrogate or channel for another spirit to use in order to act and create in the physical realm, or we move into a stage where though the intuitive awareness remains and has become apart of our normal experience, we feel as if we’re no longer being “guided”. This is because we’ve developed our inner abilities as our higher capacities to realize what we need to guide ourselves through more of a willingness to act on our intuition with complete faith even though we often don’t know why or what it will result in, or where it will act to ultimately lead us.

We are given the challenge of fully accepting the spiritual realm as the true reality that’s always transparent and never lies. It can also come as a void because what it shows us requires us to move beyond our comfort zone, act in contradiction to a belief we hold, or the fact that it only comes through being present and never shows us the outcome or holds the promise of a wish fulfilled, but comes as more of a momentary realization that requires us to act on it in the moment that it comes as an automatic response, by becoming one with it in motive and action, and in doing so, the next prompt or impression comes out of the experience of moving into ideas as the systematic unfolding of a larger idea given to us one step at a time. If we realize intuitive impressions but don’t act on them or willingly penetrate them by stepping into them, they don’t continue to unfold, because of course they can’t. We don’t use them as the guidance they’re intended for, because we’re not sure of where they’re leading us or why. Sometimes we can’t tell the difference between an actual “sign” and something that we’re simply making up in our mind as a form of fantasy because we don’t know how to discern the difference. Other times we don’t like where they seem to be leading us, and so we don’t go, and then continue to ask for more guidance.

 
At other times the reason guidance appears to stop is because it’s evolved beyond the idea of separation from ourselves, and into the idea of birthing our Higher-Self by becoming one with it in body and mind. Just as the subconscious mind emerges out of the higher conscious, and the self-conscious mind emerges out of the subconscious mind through a birth and growth process, our higher mind (re)emerges out of our individual mind as our “self”. It emerges as an aspect of ourselves that we allow to rise in us (by inviting it in), as us, and become us in consciousness and through an altered perspective. We fully allow our spirit to be “in us”, and acting as one with us. We create our “sense of self” as our Higher Self. In order to do this we have to become aware of the different aspects of our mind and how they feel as a mode of functioning.

 
The experience of our Higher Self has a very mature quality to it, that’s strangely non-personal, and has a distinctly objective holistic awareness that sees us as playing a part in a larger dynamic, and directs our awareness and behavior to serve the greater good of everyone involved, rather than our own personal needs. It takes on more of a parental perspective where we see our life as a movie or story being played out where we’re NOT the main character, but simply one of the characters playing a role in a greater idea. Because of this non-personal quality that’s not working out of a personal belief-system or agenda, it moves us into a role that we don’t normally know how to play. It has a feeling of absolute knowing as intuitive awareness of whole patterns where our actions are geared towards becoming a neutral and universal force that influences the greater drama being played out by how we interact with it and the quality of consciousness as a state of mind that we employ while doing so. It has a benevolent quality, not as emotional sentiment or piety, but in terms of recognizing the karma being played out and honoring people as they are within our own life, without imposing our will on them, but rather by acting on them in a way that encourages insight as self-awareness of the consciousness they’re living out as patterns. It’s suggestive and demonstrative rather than opposing or challenging. It works through a masterful knowledge of the subconscious mind and how to introduce ideas like seeds that are willingly taken in, allowed to take hold, spawning whole thought processes as the formation of inner realities that shift their awareness, allowing them to see new things that alter and expand the patterns they’re currently acting out at the subconscious level.

We are brought to a point in our own development where we’re shown that the next step is to actively merge into and become with our Higher-Self, which is the source of our true spiritual guidance. This unity that no longer perceives it as “out there”, and therefore requiring communication as prayer and asking as a means of receiving, becomes instead about self-awareness, employing this higher level of consciousness, and experiencing it through a direct, heightened awareness of things that’s emerged in the present and never distracted or preoccupied with time as a constant engagement in imagined realities as thoughts of the past or future. In the spiritual realm time doesn’t exist as a property and our only awareness is in the present moment as a form of singularity that’s intimately connected to everything else. It doesn’t act by re-imagining the past over and over, detached from the present like our lower self which resides “in time” and lost in illusions of its own making. Our Higher Self doesn’t even necessarily “think” in terms of internal dialogue, but rather is involved in the experience of the present and our immediate environment. Its language is feeling oriented and emotional, rather than words and redundant dialoguing that consumes the imagination with fantasies rather than intuitive perceptions of the present.

 
Once we make this transition, and begin actively birthing and giving precedence to our Higher-Self, we no longer ask for guidance, but simply tune into it through our inner feelings about things, and we no longer allow other people’s emotions to enter into us and control us by altering our state to match them, but instead sense their emotions objectively as a form of realizing their quality of consciousness as their mental paradigm, where we can see them as they actually are, instead of blending with them by taking on their emotional charges and cooperating in acting out the drams that ensue from them. When we become immune to other people’s emotions, opinions, and projections, a whole new awareness and reality begins forming that creates a quickening as a transformation that changes forever how we perceive life and how we sense our self by way of our perceptions. We begin creating ourselves out of this higher, mature awareness, and as we identify with our own experiences, it transforms us from the inside out. Our identity is transformed through our experience of the outer world which gives us a new sense about things and our role in playing out a larger idea from a detached perspective, and we become a different person as a result. We become one with God, and become god-like. We lose our personal sense of the world and our endless struggle to find our place in things, and take on more of a non-personal, universal, and neutral position where we no longer identify with our body or personality, but form our identity as our Higher Self which resides predominately in the higher, spiritual realm. Through this process, we spiritualize our lower nature transforming it to a higher level of consciousness.

The Pentagram – “Mind-over-Matter: Shaping Words into Realities”

The pentagram is probably one of the better known symbols of Sacred Geometry, and also one of the most misunderstood. While many associate it to Witchcraft and Satanic Cults of various sorts, or see it as the sign representing the devil, in reality, it’s none of these, or perhaps all of these, depending on how you perceive them and whether or not you’re prone to superstition (believing in something we don’t understand). The most basic interpretation of this symbol is “personal power” as “mind-over-matter”. This is the mind’s ability to direct and shape the natural forces and the four elements that govern the physical realm, represented by the law of the Tetrad (4), which precedes it laying the foundation out of which it naturally emerges (laws unfold out of each other). The pentagram or pentad is the symbol of the number 5, and is represented by the five-pointed star. This is the “Star of the Magi”, as well as the symbol of the devil (lower nature), based on its positioning; upright with the single point in the ascendant position, or inverted with two points in the upper position. The “devil” in the case indicates the elemental s of the material world as governing or controlling the mind.

The basic meaning that it represents is the mind’s ability to form and animate matter with consciousness (personality and identity). It’s the soul’s dominion over the 4 Elements as the phosphene substance or Astral Light of the material plane. This represents the Quintessence as the number 5 which is the number of the soul, which is also primarily of the Astral plane. It symbolizes the power of the imagination which has the ability to shape light into realities as internal images, and the soul (mind) which acts as the receptacle for Universal Light, which operates through the law of vibration, sympathetic induction and coherence, and acts to organize light (photons) into patterns as possible realities. This represents the soul’s ability of not only receiving and assimilating the images, reflections, and imprints contained in the Living Light – The Great Magnetic Agent – as “memories”, but also of “creating virtual memories” that can be used in place of actual memories to produce analogous realities as self-created experiences.

 
Like all laws and natural forces which exist in a fundamental state of polarity, and are “issued forth” in pairs as complementary opposites of the same operation that demonstrate a relationship, in order to properly understand the pentad (5), we have to look at it in relationship to not only the 4 or Tetrad which precedes and lays the foundation necessary to spontaneously birth it, but also the hexad (6) that emerges out of it, which is also symbolized as a star. If we think of these in terms of how they correspond to the chakra’s of the body (soul’s energetic anatomy), as the throat (5) and the 3rd eye (6), we can see that words as sound (whether silent as thought or spoken) are shaped into internal conceptualizations in the imagination. Words form the basis for analogous imagery. What we think we’re simultaneously imagining, and what we are imagining becomes the basis for what we say, talk about, or communicate to others. Thought as an imagined reality forms our “perceptual lens” and is what we “look through” that determines what we “see” in the outer world that corresponds to it as being of the same nature. The inner always provides the basis for the outer as a filtering system that the mind uses to organize the outer to be of the same nature or vibration as the inner.

What we think as visual imagery and speak we actually create. Our words direct our imagination to form distinct images out of the words, which become the outer expression of inward imagining that projects and superimposes it onto the outer environment causing others to see the same sensory images. The words we speak are the images as patterns, and the emotion and attitude through which we speak them is the shaping mechanism that determines what memory we associate to it, and call forth in our mind as a means of developing the idea to be a proper vehicle of expression for that emotion. How we experience an idea is based on what feeling-emotion we attach to it. The image as a shape (outer reference) is the carrier-wave that transmits the emotion. An idea is always married to a feeling, which forms how we think about it, and how we adapt that idea to ourselves and our life circumstances by how we apply it in the moment, which modifies and re-configures it as a compliance.

 
The idea represented by the Tetragrammaton as the 4 Elements of the material plane, are the four lower points on the star that form a square, symbolizing the lower 4-dimensional plane, governed largely by instinct as memories of some sort. These four lower points as the Elements represent an idea (archetype or universal memory as a pattern), animated by a feeling-emotion (activating it), that forms a thought-process as a conceptualized internal representation of the idea, reshaping it as an adaptation to the mental paradigm of the individual as applied within their current life circumstances to produce an external reality as a personal experience that’s analogous to the internal experience. All of this, called the shaping of Astral Light as “thought-forms”, is performed within the faculty of the imagination (3rd eye). This imaginative ability is how the soul, as the astral mind, which is comprised of accumulated and integrated memories shapes the Astral Agent of phosphene-like Light into internal realities that become the basis for outer experiences.

Astral Light, also called terrestrial fluid, the Great Magnetic Agent, the Plastic Mediator, that is populated with the demons of the air, spirits of fire, phantoms of water, and the ghosts of the earth, all of which are invisible, ghost-like images as natural forces, are speaking of the same idea, they’re just using different terms to describe it. The pentagram represents the power of the spoken word (thought and speech) to shape images in the imagination, turning them into internal realities as living representations personalized by how the individual reshapes universal ideas (words) into a new variation filtered through and reorganized by their own paradigm (accumulated integrated memories). These images, formed in our imagination create “thought-forms” that are imprinted in our Astral Field or outer Mind (electromagnetic field surrounding and permeating our body), and are perceived by others as feelings and mental impressions, and are magnetic or attractive in nature.

 
Whatever we think about and internalize on a constant and regular basis with strong emotional content, we literally magnetize ourselves to. These electromagnetic thought-forms act to project and transmit as well as attract thoughts and ideas of the same nature in our outer world, while repelling anything that’s not of the same nature (form). We are literally “asking for” more of whatever we imagine and think about. Emotion acts as an amplifier, intensifying the signal, and is what directly connects us to everyone and everything around us. The emotions we’re experiencing at any given time are what we’re broadcasting and activating all around us, which are associated to analogous ideas that express and create more experiences that increase and give us more of that same feeling.

pentagram elementsThe star represents power over the lower world of Elementals, and when placed in a circle, which represents the Monad as the sphere of consciousness or mind-field of the soul (specialized pattern), contains and holds the Elements within it, where they are subservient to the will of the soul, which can use them as a creative tool and magnetizer for self-creating and producing self-designed experiences, formed in the imagination and superimposed or projected onto the outer environment creating and attracting corresponding elements that lend themselves to being shaped into the same type of patterns. All memories are created and replayed in the imagination, and are not based solely on actual experiences, but mostly out of imagined experiences that have been interpreted to make them mean something. Actual stored memories come out of events that have a strong emotional impact and form the “themes” that become basis of what we think about, and we propagate numerous “virtual” memories out of actual ones that are a pure fabrications of our imagination. But because they’re created in the same way, they produce the same affect, and they become a form of “self-programming”.

 
The pentad, which represents “regeneration”, also represents the phi relationship (3 + 2) as doubling and halving, where we manifest whatever is being emphasized, reproducing and multiplying it, growing and evolving our mental model through an accumulative process. This relationship is further demonstrated through the Fibonacci Sequence, which is based on reproduction as the present combined with the most recent memory of the past forms the basis for the future, again, corresponding to producing reality as a correlation of accumulative memory to produce endless variations of the same thematic idea. This idea of a basic set of memories integrated into a holistic pattern as a paradigm, forming the basis for propagating more memory of the same type as the means of self-creation and evolution, is the primary idea behind how the soul evolves through multiple lifetimes by repeating and creating out of the same basic set of memories.

How the pentagram is positioned, demonstrates the orientation in terms of what’s the governing factor. When positioned upright with the single triangle in the ascending position (top), it represents personal power as working consciously with the imagination to magnetize your self through the shaping of the elements. When reversed, with two points – triangles at the top (horns as division of the mind), and the single triangle or point at the bottom, represents the mind being controlled by the elements, and lacking power to control our own mind because we remain unconscious of our own true abilities, and use it in a haphazard way to create out of emotional and pleasure seeking states. Inverted represents being conditioned to automatic thoughts given to you by others, while using your imagination to think about the very thing you don’t want, and magnetizing yourself to it as a result. This symbolizes the most basic form of ignorance that spends its power magnetizing itself to its own imaginary fears and being controlled by others (through suggestion and emotions) while creating out of a primarily conditioned and reactive state.

 
An inverted Pentagram represents the “devil” if we understand the devil (“lived” spelled backwards) as being the thought-forms created by others that were born out of fear, anxiety, hatred, and intense emotions that populate the Astral Field of mass consciousness (delusions) as the “instinctual field of humanity” that we tune into and receive as ideas associated to our own emotional states, and act to co-create out of the delusions that plague humanity, without any real awareness that that is what we’re doing. We basically live our life from an unconscious state that relies on instinct as instant realities that produce automatic behaviors, and create out of error as a false idea about ourselves. We equate ourselves to the animal kingdom as our lower nature, and become a product of our conditioning. The devil, represented by the god named Pan, represents our lower-animal nature (half man and half goat), which is primarily instinctual in nature and unconscious in the most basic sense of not being aware of how you’re using your own mind, which is bestowed with higher-consciousness and the ability to create through choice and will by how we take control of our own mind and emotions, and operate it in a conscious (aware) and intentional manner.

The Pentagram, like all laws, cannot be properly understood as a singular, free-standing law, but rather needs to be viewed in its polar relationship as complementary aspects of the same operation, and by how it exists as apart of a continuous growth process. It must be viewed holistically and intuitively in terms of the full expression of the laws that precede it, that it naturally emerged out of, while still holding the latent potential of all laws that sequentially flow systematically from it. All laws originate out of the dyad (2 monads or spheres), which is considered the “parent number” out of which all reality emerges out of as a growth process. Because of this, the first “real number” is 3 (triad), which is the offspring as a combination of both masculine and feminine aspects, or the “inner and the outer”, which are complementary and act to stimulate each other, together form a unique variation as a combination or formula comprised of compatible aspects of both natures, in different quantities, degrees and potency’s (interference pattern). The numbers three through nine, three being the first “real number” as the offspring or combination formed by the dyad (mother and father), and ten being a repeat of one on a higher level or complete cycle (0) which are considered the base numbers and laws governing material and subtle reality, are seven. Seven is the number of the “virgin”, because it can’t be drawn in accurate and equal measurements, and so is expressed in a unique fashion each time it’s expressed. Seven is the number of creative expression.

 
Just as the Monad and Dyad represent a basic relationship as different aspects of the same thing, this same relationship continues as the offspring of laws that issue forth in pairs. The pentad (5) is complementary to the hexad (6), which is symbolized by the same idea of a star. The hexad comes in the form of the “Star of David”, and is formed by two triangles, positioned and moving in opposite direction as ascending and descending, or connecting the upper with the lower, just as the triad (3) and the Tetrad (4) represent the relationship between the inner and the outer as the triangle which forms a mirror image of itself outwardly, forming a diamond which is also a square. This same relationship correlated to the chakra system of the body as the 5th and 6th chakra, represent the spoken word (throat) that is formed into a reality in the imagination (3rd eye). The word as a sound vibration geometrically structures Astral Light into distinct patterns that the words represent. Our thoughts are words formed into living concepts which become the basis for our speech and our actions.

These two laws, the pentad and the hexad, represent sound (whether silent or actual) that shapes Light into patterns as internal imagery that becomes the “lens we look through” (the pineal gland is a crystalline structure that reflects images on it’s surface) for seeing that same pattern-idea around us and connecting us to it in the outer world, where we act to awaken it through our very presence (consciousness). Then, after attracting and bringing the same pattern into an active state in others, we interact through it to produce the same pattern as an outer, joint experience. These two laws are represented in the Biblical phrase, “and the word was made flesh and walked among us.” To speak is to create, and to imagine is to see our creation as a possible reality. We create an inner reality that magnetizes us to that same reality around us. This is the power of our mind to literally shape our experience of reality, which in turn shapes us as the creator, main star, and witness to our own creation. Our imagination is how we create “memory” that forms our soul’s programming as a vibratory frequency that has both electric (perpetuating) and magnetic (attractive) properties. We are always the ones creating ourselves and our life by way of our own thinking.

2 Forgotten Healing Herbs of Christmas (skin balm recipe included!)

We’re eight days away from Christmas and the team and I have been busy unraveling some of the medical mysteries associated with this ancient midwinter tradition.

Tucked quietly into many of the world’s most celebrated holidays are hidden codes, sacred symbolism, and my personal favorite – valuable and often forgotten medicines. In certain cases, we have to dig a little in order to find the deeper wisdom in these annual celebrations, but not with Christmas. This one wears its healing jewels in plain sight, like ornaments on a tree.

3wisemenToday, we’re going to visit the Three Wise Men, who famously paid a fateful visit to Jesus in the moments after his birth. Also known as “The Magi,” which is the root of the English word magician, the bible says that these distinguished foreigners came bearing three special gifts. One of the gifts was pure gold, but the other two may have been a far more valuable offering. These were the herbs frankincense and myrrh.3 Magi

Yes, frankincense and myrrh are best known for their use as incense in religious rituals, but make no mistake, these revered herbs are potent medicines that have been used by healers throughout history to treat everything from serious infection to hair loss. Let’s take a closer look at each one.

Frankincense: Boswellia sacra, Boswellia carter

Dating back to Sumerian times, this fragrant resin was often transported via large caravans across the desert from eastern African and Arabian regions, including Yemen, Oman, Ethiopia and Somalia. Its use as a medicine most likely started with the ancient Egyptians who also charred it to make the famous black kohl eyeliner that adorned the faces of their noble women. Frankincense is central to almost every major religion from this region of the world, but its healing value often goes unmentioned in the history books.frankincense

frankincense For starters, frankincense oil has been used for millennia to help balance out the emotions and achieve a happier, more connected life. Modern science tells us that frankincense is rich in compounds known as sesquiterpenes, that have the ability to pass the blood-brain barrier and stimulate the region of our brain that controls our feelings. One of the most common biomarkers of this plant, incensole acetate, is a known antidepressant that has shown very promising effects.

The oil is also extremely beneficial for the skin and hair. It can be applied topically to treat dry skin, smoothen wrinkles, and strengthen hair roots. After battle, it was often relied upon to disinfect wounds, sooth muscle pain and reduce swelling. Because of its known anti-inflammatory properties, frankincense oil is often prescribed by naturopaths to treat patients who are suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.

Fun fact: archaeologists found frankincense resin in King Tut’s tomb in ancient Egypt. A truly medicinal treasure!

Myrrh: Commiphora myrrha

Like frankincense, myrrh is native to Northern Africa and the Middle East, including Ethiopia and Yemen. This revered plant resin actually appears in one of the oldest Egyptian medical texts, Ebers Papyrus, which dates back to 1550 B.C.! This is a clear testament to how popular it was among ancient cultures for its curative effects. But why?myrrh_gum_powder1

myrrh_gum_powderBeyond its use as a fragrance and for embalming purposes, early civilizations saw that it possessed quite a few healing properties. The Egyptians bought boatloads of it from the Phoenicians for use in skin salves that were applied to wounds, sores and burns. By this time, early doctors had already recognized myrrh’s antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic effects, and it was prescribed for a wide array of physical ailments, including: cough, asthma, indigestion, rashes and scrapes, burns, skin infection, hemorrhoids, joint pain, and sore throat.

It was also used as a rejuvenating facial and massage treatment for women.

Both of these sacred substances have endured quite a journey over the past five millennia. They were even forbidden by certain religions for quite some time because of their association with pagan rituals – but it’s hard to keep a good medicine under wraps. Frankincense and myrrh are now celebrated worldwide for their religious significance, but it is up to us to spread the word about their extreme healing potential and put them to good use!

If you are feeling adventurous and would like to create your own healing balm from these two timeless herbs, we have included a recipe below!

How to make your own skin balm with frankincense and myrrh:

(Makes about 3 cups)

To make this recipe, you will need either a slow cooker or double boiler. If you don’t have either, you can fashion yourself a makeshift double boiler using a metal or glass mixing bowl and slightly smaller pot filled with a bit of water.

2 cups olive oil
20 drops frankincense essential oil
20 drops myrrh essential oil
2/3 cup beeswax
4 glass or metal sealable containers

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Construct your double boiler or slow cooker and bring to the appropriate low heat.

• Add the olive oil and allow to come to temperature. About 7 minutes.

• Add the beeswax, stirring until dissolved.

• Add frankincense and myrrh essential oils and stir gently for 5 minutes.

• Pour into storage containers. Leave the lids off until fully cool.

Once you allow this fragrant oil to cool for about 20 to 30 minutes, it will firm up into a nicely textured balm that you can apply directly to the skin.
